  1. There are definitely things OHS need to clean up if they intend to go deep in the playoffs. It surprised me that both teams played that game as if they were actually playing for something (after halftime) considering that playoffs were a week away. Looks as though Owensboro got away healthy but I believe Henderson had two kids walked off the field. I hope both kids are okay and are able to return to action this coming week. The defense has been listening to it's own hype. Rosco, you are correct. The defense was on the field way too long, but that's what happens when you start a game with three passes in a row and go 3 and out. They have gotten so far away from the running game, it is ridiculous. They are going to need to be able to run or grind out a long drive at some point. If you can't do it against lesser teams, how do you expect to do it against the really good ones? You counted 8 drops? How many have they had in the last 3 games? Was it graves or Apollo that they dropped 3 td passes? Not properly catching the ball (with their hands), not securing the ball when they had the catch, all these are correctable but you have to put the work in. It doesn't just happen. With a hard throwing qb you cannot allow the ball to get to your body and ohs's receivers allow that to happen way too much. With that said, all these things are correctable and if they get that stuff under control and get everybody back on D, they are definitely going to be a team not too many teams want to deal with.
  2. Congrats to all those being selected, including Vonn Williams from Owensboro Catholic.
  3. Sorry, I got a bit ahead of myself by not mentioning who I was talking about. You are 100 % on point. Thanks.
  4. A big thumbs up to Coach Reed!!! Daylin Huff will remember that gesture for the rest of his life. Great job!! I am sure he's a fan as I have just become one.
  5. Great breakdown. All I can say is Offense--You'd better develop that running game you've always been known for because as well as you pass, there's going to be a team in your near future that's going to make you use it. Ball security is of the utmost importance and lastly, poise under pressure-you're going to need it because there are more than likely 2 teams in the next 4 weeks that are going to bring the pressure to you. If you want to play them both, do what you need to do. Defense--Keep doing what you do. Tone down the cockiness, people know your're good but let you game speak for you. You started getting stupid penalties because of your mouths and your cockiness. Shut up and play your tails off. You do that, you will have a shot, a good shot at getting through this gauntlet to Lexington. It won't be easy but who told you it would be?
  6. Not saying they will, but some teams have an uncanny ability to rise to the occasion. But you have you thoughts on the matter as I have mine. That's exactly why they have to play on Fridays. Don't accuse me of being a fan of trinity and drinking the cool aid, that is not the case here. They might not be good right now but I don't think a lot of teams are licking their chops to play them (X and Male might be but I don't know). By the way; my appointment with the psychologist is for Wednesday.
  7. I would think until a team puts the Rocks to rest for this season they have to still be in the conversation. Say what you will but counting them out might be just a bit premature.
  8. Great game break down. The game would have been a shut out if not for Owensboro's fumble. I hope the dropped balls do not become an issue. The problem wasn't the weather, it was/is a totally correctable problem. Fix those problems, reinvigorate the running game along with a very potent passing attack and they will be a hard out down the road.
  9. Excellent job as always. One thing though, the x factor for Owensboro--TreVon Green. Scored multiple times last Friday receiving and rushing. He is quietly becoming a force. Right now, he's the guy you have to plan for. Sounds like Graves goes as their QB goes; if this is the case, Devils D has their challenge. Owensboro may need to find its' "forgotten" running game to pull this one out. They do have enough talent to pull it off. I don't know but this might be more speed than Graves has seen this year. Fast and quick on both sides of the ball. I hope your words of the Devils' ability come to fruition. I am sure that you'd like it to be the purples but hey, you said it.
  10. IMO if any team would be harmed, it would be Bowling Green due to the fact that they are playing for the district title next week. If they got out of the game with everyone healthy, I'd so no. I wouldn't think playing the team from CO would have helped SW sounded like an easy win. Again, if everyone got away healthy, no harm.
  11. Owens Aleaga had what seemed to be a career night at QB in the game this past Friday. Don't know what's going on with their starter, but regardless of his numbers, if he was as good as Cambron, he'd be the starter. Don't know how far Daviess can go without him at the helm. :arghh: I don't think they'll beat Henderson and that's not good because they need this win to secure a first round home game. IMO, if Cambron isn't under center, they may as well get ready to take their show on the road for the first round.:sorry:
  12. Great breakdown! Hopefully all the magic was used up on that (almost sack and) catch last year. This is not that OHS team. Owensboro's defense, if it plays up to par, may keep Apollo's O on the sideline. A couple three and outs and you are in a hole that gets deeper as the game goes on. Owensboro will score points in bunches. I didn't think Catholic was going to win either but I believe that problem has been corrected and the defense isn't the same one that was on the field that night, not by a long shot. The kids don't seem to be feeling their way along any more and they are playing with much more confidence and attitude. I think to win, Apollo has to keep the ball away from Owensboro. I don't think they can pull that off. Not with OHS's defense playing like it has as of late. We will see.
  13. I agree that it is now at the point that so goes the defense so go the Red Devils. Believe me, I understand that Marshall County is a ways away from teams that they will face down the road. I am just happy that they have acknowledged that those plays are still in the playbook and they aren't afraid to run them. It remains to be seen if they will run them when the game is still in the balance. IMO they are going to need to find out if they can before they get to the playoffs if they expect to beat the teams they will need to beat to advance.
  14. Owensboro's defense is rounding into a formidable unit (They are the key). If Apollo's offense has too many early 3 and outs, they may look up and be several TD's down. Yes, I agree Owsley is electric, but TreVon Green is quietly making a name for himself and is becoming someone you must defend against. If the second half of the Marshall County game is any indication, the Red Devils may have the makings of an inside running game. That might not be good for Apollo, now, on short yardage, the Devils may not have to run outside. They can now just run it down your throat and IMO that is what they have truly been lacking. True, the eagales won last year. A penalty and a misplayed pass.........a loss. This (crossing my fingers on this) is not a team that has shot itself in the foot on a regular basis and the coaches have decided that they can throw the ball (should have thrown it more last year, but that's just me). Inside run, outside run, pass short, pass deep. Even the quarter back is running a bit and they are playing at Rash. The cards may be stacked a bit too high this year.
  15. Wow! if there's a chance to get em, jump on those tickets. Like I said; you're going anyway, get em now!
  16. You might regret it again. I don't think the price will go down much if at all. Remember they are still playing Georgia. Go ahead and get the tickets, I don't think you'll regret it.
  17. Buy them now. You're going anyway. Pick them up before they go up.
  18. You neglected to list the kid rushing 6 times for 50 yards. Also Skortz's 9-yard TD reception. Worth a mention.
  19. Just asking because I have no idea, but could it be that in the past several years there has been so much talent and so many good teams that this year seems so bad?
  20. I agree with you and purple 88 regarding Owensboro's defense. They are coming around. When diamond glover is out there playing, they are a different team. As long as he keeps his head and plays under control, he is a force to be reckoned with.
  21. I do have a name for you on Owesboro's defense. Jayden Greathouse. At one point, he had 2 back to back sacks and a called back fumble recovery for touchdown. The D is slowly catching up to the O. Might not be a good thing over the next couple of weeks if they begin to put it all together, could be ugly for some teams. At the very least, it will be interesting.
  22. As always, great job. I'd like to add a "way to go coach!":thumb: to Crittenden County's coach's display of sportsmanship. Don't think there are many coaches out there that would have done that. You are right, those kids won't forget the gesture but I don't think his players will forget it either. I hope they all take it and pass it on.
  23. Over the course of this season, how many points have the Red Devils left in the red zone? I agree that for them to advance in the playoffs, this is something they need to address. Tre Von Green played a whale of a game. I am wondering why Owsley didn't touch the ball (outside of 2 targets) in the first half.
  24. Man, you are all over it as usual. Your game keys (to Owensboro v Christian County) are spot on with an emphasis on not forcing the ball and making careless turnovers. I will agree that they truly need to pay attention to Owsley, but if they aren't on the lookout for Green, he'll get 2 quick ones and the game will be over before they know what hit them. Should be a good one.
  25. I hear that a lot of trash is being talked prior to this game and it's not coming from the catholic camp. If it's true the cougars might need to pump their brakes a bit. I'm not getting on the OC bandwagon, but look at who they've played vs who Mclean has played. No offense to wkyhollywood but Catholic is no slouch running the ball either. First half may be competitive but I believe Catholic walks off with the win.
