  1. You've been spot on, can't see going away from your opinion now. Good job. Just as you've done all year. I think Apollo's players are buying into what Barker's preaching. I feel that Barker's ability as a coach might be a bit under rated. What do you think? Still a bit miffed with OHS, but life must go on.:banghead:
  2. I agree with your statement, but even with the "cake walk", there is still that district that has to be dealt with. Warren South and Bowling Green will be as tough as ever I am sure. I am sure that Christian County is NOT happy with all this. Maybe they should have kept playing Bowling Green. That County game takes on a whole new level of urgency now doesn't it?
  3. Depending on which Apollo team shows up (I hope they are over that now) I agree. If bad Apollo shows, they could be bounced early.
  4. If the teachers are willing to go through stress fire training and they pass,by all means, let them carry. But until then, I'm not for it. They do more than enough. Where is the assumption in this statement? I said, If they are properly trained let them carry if they choose to. I said nothing about forcing them to carry, I said nothing about people not being trained. I said: "Properly trained trained teachers should be allowed to carry." Where's the assumption?
  5. I'm more for locking them up for a very long time after spending some time with the family of the Vet.
  6. You assumed. I said nothing about banning anyone of anything. I said that to put that extra duty on teachers was wrong, they have more than enough on their plate to add the extra burden of training to be proficient with a weapon. If you got banning ccdw for everyone from what I wrote, you read more between the lines than I could have thought to put there. But I will say this. If you think the amount of training that is required for you to get your ccdw is all the training that you should have to carry a weapon, you are sadly mistaken. But assume all you want.
  7. Proficient shooting a paper target or with someone pointing a weapon at them? LEO's are paid to be that way with a weapon pointing at them. Teachers aren't. Shooting a weapon under stress is a totally different situation. If the teachers a willing to go through stress fire training and they pass,by all means, let them carry. But until then, I'm not for it. They do more than enough.
  8. I agree. Working as a bailiff in the judicial center you would think the sheriff would make sure that active shooter training would be first on the list as for training personnel. But it isn't. I hear way too often that "nothing is going to happen there." That's the attitude that gets people killed. Because it hasn't happened doesn't mean that it won't. If the rank and file don't get the training, there won't be any training.
  9. This guy (I believe you are talking about the SRO) failed to do HIS job. There is more than enough blame to go around. Maybe some others should lose jobs or positions, but at the end of it all; he signed up to be the guy to go toward the trouble when it hit the fan and he did not. It doesn't matter who dropped the ball prior to the first shot being fired. When the shooting began, he could have attempted to stop or at the least minimize the carnage, but he failed to act.
  10. I agree 100%. That's why teachers should NOT carry weapons. With that; when the SRO put that badge on, he knew, he knew the dangers and the risks. This may be harsh but he signed up for it and should have gone in. If your child was in the line of fire, would you want him outside in a defensive position or in the building engaging the shooter?
  11. People may not agree with me. With that being said, With all the training in firearms, shoot, don't shoot situations, active shooter situations, drills, etc; there are still police officers out there that should not carry weapons. I have worked as a police officer and a deputy bailiff. I am by no means an expert but I have some knowledge of the subject. There is no way that a teacher will get the amount of training needed to not just carry, but also use a weapon (along with all the other teacher related things they need to have in order to teach). Leave the gun wielding to the professionals. There are trained LEO's that freeze in gun situations (for example, the school resource officer; trained professional. He did not engage, did not go in the building.). What would you expect from a part-time slightly trained person who was all ready over worked, underpaid, and over stressed? Make it easier for teachers to do THEIR jobs. Leave the guns to the pros. There are teachers in this group. You tell me, with everything you need to do in order to teach, coach and do the other related things you need to do, when would you have time to put in the work you'd need to put in to become proficient with firearms? And once you learn, this is a skill that you must be diligent about maintaining. It is a perishable skill that (as I said) you must work to maintain. When would you find the time?
  12. 5A football in this part of the state is going to be interesting this coming season.
  13. If you've watched a lot of college or pro ball lately, you've undoubtedly seen how bad tackling has gotten. Maybe they need to work with some rugby guys. Form tackling seems to have become a thing of the past.
  14. Clear this up for me. You aren't talking about full speed with no pads; are you? I will take it that your answer is no. In that case tell me how you can simulate game (full) speed tackling without actually going full speed? You go full speed, pads required. JMO
  15. The two footer you spoke of, wasn't that the play where the charge was called? The kid flopped and IMO at the least it should have been a no-call. I'm not going to lay it on the refs because OHS didn't finish, but those officials weren't at their best by any stretch of the imagination.
  16. Owensboro may have a say in what happens this year. But go ahead and count them out.
  17. THAT would be something. The only team that might get a breather would be the one seed. In that district, every game could be a battle.
  18. Lewis got one but he was totally a non factor. But that's it. Baseball and track season for OHS. Good luck.
  19. I'm sure Chrisitan County isn't happy either. Didn't they recently drop Bowling Green from their regular season schedule? Now they must play them and south warren? Wow! Possibly a perennial third seed with BG and WS fighting it out for 1 and 2.
  20. Not contact for the sake of contact. Contact with the teaching of proper technique. Huge difference.
  21. I agree about having kids and pay, having 3 myself an increase in pay is huge. I didn't speculate. I know what I saw and what I heard come from him. That being said, I've said nothing about what I've heard in the past few days out of respect to him and his ability as a coach. I wish him the best and see no reason to jump on him now. I am waiting to see if they stay the course offensively or make a radical departure from the past few years..
  22. Is Hamilton still on the team? He disappeared at the end of the season. But the big question now is what will Catholic do about it's coaching situation? I've heard that everyone wants the OC but the administration wants to put together a committee to search. That might take a while and we are almost into March. Does anyone know what prompted Coach Edge to leave? I know what I've heard but it's exactly that, rumors and speculations.
