  1. Running the ball got them to 26-0. Then the coach wanted to start throwing. Then the wheels fell off and they couldn't get back to what got them 26 points. I'm hearing fans weren't happy.
  2. I believe it was two unsportsmanlike penalties. Didn't seem like it was that serious but maybe because it was his second.
  3. !7 straight, but who's counting? Seems like everyone is. Just because it's been awhile since Owensboro's won, don't think there isn't a rivalry there. Just look over on Parrish Ave. Ask Cathoilc if there's a rivalry with Mayfield. When was the last time they've beaten them (have they ever?) If I know the Aces and their fans, I am sure they'll say there is one. Good to see that Tre Green is finally getting some credit for what's happening with the Owesnboro offense. The kid is a player. He can very easily be the difference maker. I agree wholeheartedly that Owensboro can be its' own worst enemy in this game, but the Purples aren't going to just show up and mail it in. They'll battle to the end and I would expect nothing less from them. I see the Devils pulling it out and ending the streak. Don't know if I'd be so ambitious to say 27-14, I'm thinking more like 27-21 or 21-14. It'll be close, should be interesting.
  4. Friday night Rash stadium. Be there, you just may get your wish. Makes no difference how long it's been. This is the closest these two teams have been in a while. I believe it'll be close. This isn't the same Owensboro team that the Purples played earlier in the season and I don't think this is the same Bowling Green team either, from what I've been reading.
  5. Be a good trip. Come on up and have some barbecue before the game.
  6. I agree 100% that Bowling Green has the talent to win........Owensboro has the talent to win also. That's why this game is so anticipated don't you think? These two teams haven't been this evenly matched in a long time. It's gonna be close but in the end I see the Devils getting the Purples off their back and pulling it out, but then again, I'm biased.
  7. Makes you wonder what Catholic's running game can do if the two meet up again.
  8. Nice update. I didn't see that anyone got hurt. I thought they left a couple of starters in win they took Warren out. There wasn't much blocking after the first team went out. I agree, stupid penalties need to be eliminated if they want to advance past the second round. I am still trying to figure out what happened on the punt that took almost all the third quarter to figure out while the clock ran. Where I have a problem is the clock ran while the officials discussed the play, when they were finished, there was less than a minute on the clock, when they replayed the down, there was over 2 minutes on the clock. Why did they replay the down? Why did they put time back on the clock? If you know, please explain it to me, I was totally lost. Jaiden Greathouse thought he had a scoop and score against Christian County (got called back), I am glad he finally got one.
  9. On that note, Owensboro wasn't hitting on all cylinders either. No dropped balls but they were not at their best. Friday will be interesting to say the least.
  10. I was just saying that they need to have one to go to for a yard or two. i am not saying they need to exclusively run inside. The run game needs to compliment the passing game IMO. We'll see what happens. I don't know about the BG game yet, but Owensboro has held up its' end as ugly as it was, and they'll be there Friday night. Come down have some Barbecue, sit back and enjoy a good hard fought game.
  11. I have been saying all season that Owensboro needed to develop an inside runing game to be able to beat BG and South Warren, but to say that Owensboro doesn't have the weapons to beat Bowling Green tell me; "How many weapons do you need?" If you've only seen the one game, you might want to say that but if you've seen more games, you'd know that there are more weapons there than you think. No. OHS has no other kid as fast as Owsley (How many teams do?) but they do have several fast and quick kids over there on Frederica Street. I like their chances better than I have over the last several years. Nothing wrong with you being confident in your team, I'll take the Devils and you've got the Purples. I'm sure we'll be here a week from Saturday hashing it out. It should be an interesting game. Good luck.
  12. I think the Mayfield Catholic game will be closer than you give them credit. As much as I don't think Catholic will lose by that much, I believe Mayfield will pull away in the end. I don't know that Catholic has the personnel to handle too many blows and I believe Mayfield will hit them with several. I will say this from seeing it before; if Catholic is allowed to hang around for awhile they become more dangerous. With the game being at Catholic's house this year, come the fourth quarter, they might just be there, hanging around.
  13. First half should be close with BG pulling away in the end. It would be great to see Christian County at Rash next week instead of the Purples but I just don't think CC is up to the task. If BG underestimates County's QB, he just might surprise them, I think he's gonna be a good one, but just not yet.
  14. I remember the last game Owensboro played against Warren Central. The take away from that game was they HAVE some athletes they don't have many players. I was told that many of their kids had ended up going to South Warren. WOW! I just could not imagine seeing that happen to a school. Has to be tough. Warren Central back in the day was a team to be reckoned with and I hope that you figure out a way to get that back. I am sure Bowling Green is just like Owensboro in that when all the teams in the area are competitive it makes for a very exciting season. Hopefully the powers that be will get this worked out and Central will turn the corner and get back to where they are competitive again.
  15. The two 2-3 match ups are very interesting in this region. BG could be pushed in this game but I believe they hold form and get the win. Christian might stand up and decide to give the Purples a taste of what they will be dealing with when they get to the district next year. Graves v Grayson, I think Graves will get the win and head on to South Warren. Graves may give South Warren a game, but the question is how long can they hold out? On the other side. This might be the most watched round 2 game in Western Ky. I would love to see Christian County take Bowling Green out but I really don't believe CC has the horses for it. BG loads up and heads up the Natcher for the rematch. Should be an entertaining game what ever the outcome. I think this is the time that Owensboro breaks the streak. 17 games is way too long without a win and I think the Devils take care of that. On to South Warren. Whether it be Bowling Green (with all that entails) or Owensboro, IMO, it won't be a walk over for South Warren. Who ever wins region 1, they will be battle tested that's for sure. I got the Devils riding the wave after beating the Purples and winning by 7.
  16. I don't know that Bowling Green played that bad the first time they played the Devils and on that note, Owensboro did not play mistake free football either. You make it sound like Owensboro played as well as they could and still lost to a team that wasn't at its' best. They both made mistakes. But I'll say this, the defense BG played against last time isn't the defense they'll see this time and if Owensboro's coaches look, they'll find out that they do possess a fairly potent running game. If that happens, Bowling Green will see an Owensboro team that they've never seen (When was the last time Owensboro averaged 32 passing attempts per game in a season? Never?). Then again, BG can rise to the occasion and pull this one out. IMO it will be one of the better second round games played this year.
  17. Sounds about like road that Owensboro is going to have to go through to get to the finals. Getting there will be a task in itself, but it sounds like Coach Wallace has them poised to accomplish the task. Good luck!!!! I am glad you have him and he's not coaching Bowling Green this year.
  18. I hope they get Greenwood out of the way quickly and they get the starters out early. The coaches have a tendency to move rather slowly when it comes to getting players out and I would hate to see some one get hurt because they don't move soon enough. The Devils are going to need all hands on deck for round two and beyond.
  19. From what I'm hearing, the trend is going to continue (Giving up 35+ points a game). I hope Owensboro doesn't fall into the trap of looking ahead to who will be there for round 2. If they take care of business all they need to worry about is that they are in round 2 not who is across the field.
  20. I hate to say it but coach Wallace should dress everyone because they will all get to play in this game. Shame for the kids at Ohio County.
  21. I know they have to, but this game shouldn't even be played. With the non-district schedule Ohio County plays, this isn't fair to the kids on that team. The AD is doing them no favors at all with their scheduling.:(
  22. - Warren Central – While the Dragons will end the year at 0 and 11, I would fire their scheduling director. There is no reason to schedule a majority of the teams on their current schedule that total 5 of their 10 regular season games against teams in classifications higher than the Dragons 4A classification. Come on man… I wholeheartedly agree that the powers that be at WC aren't doing those kids any favors with their scheduling. Seems like they could do something to help them get the program back on track. The AD, the Head Coach and the Principal should sit down and decide what they want from the program and see what they need to do to get there. They stay on this path, pretty soon they may not have a program and that would be a shame for the kids there wanting to play football.
  23. Great job as always!!!! " BG has won 17 in a row against a very good program. That streak has to end sometime." You are so right. It has to end sometime; let it be 2 Friday's from now. Not to look over Greenwood, I hope that the Devils don't fall into to that trap, but it's hard not to imagine that 2nd round match up. I agree that the defense is ahead of the offense right now, but if the offense doesn't stop the trend of having a bunch of three and outs, they are going to wear that defense out. I am not the coach but OHS needs to sprinkle a bit of a running attack in with all the passing. I have harped on this all year and I'm not going to quit now. The teams that they've played after Bowling Green had no answer for the Owenboro passing attack but in my opinion if they intend to get past the Purples, South Warren and (hopefully) get to that championship game they'd better figure out what constitutes a running game. They also need to clean up the stupid penalties, untimely turn overs (When is a turnover ever a good thing?) and the dropped passes (all correctable). I'm not going to call you a homer but if you are a true fan, as I know you are, you back your team regardless of the odds. Lord knows, I was behind the Devils through the 17 beat downs that Bowling Green has dished out and you couldn't convince me that there wasn't a chance to pull any one of those games out. The Fat Lady had warmed up and all ready started singing, I was still there hoping against all odds (as I hope you will be this time). I believe this is one of the better teams that the Red Devils have had in a good while and if that running game (I know) materializes they will definitely be a tough out. Regardless, it shapes up to be a very competitive game, I just hope you aren't as happy heading back down the Natcher as you were earlier this year.
  24. I hope you bought your tickets back when you thought about it.
  25. Tre Green does not get the credit he deserves. He is playing very well right now.
