  1. Wow! The coach said that he's not winning because he doesn't have the talent? It's the coaches job to get the most out of his kids isn't it? That's crazy! Don't tell me that there are not enough talented kids in the school to make Highlands competitive.
  2. They surely haven't been up to now. Are they too cheap to get top talent in the front office? Why do you buy a team if you aren't willing to spend the money to do what's needed, why get in it? If you aren't gonna spend like Jerry Jones, don't expect the same results. Maybe I should have used a better example but, I trust you get my point.:sneaky:
  3. I think I'd try to figure out how to protect the QB before I went out and got another one who's career I was going to destroy. Trade down, get some linemen and who knows, a QB might fall into your lap. Dak Prescott was picked in the 4th was he not? Remember Rodgers sitting in the green room, where was Tom Brady drafted? The Browns could find a guy with out wasting a first round pick. Lord knows, they wasted more than enough picks.:bag:
  4. Academic, athletic, whatever money for school is money for school. I have one in school that plays at being a student, a junior that thinks he's the best thing since Deshaun Watson and he's going to play D-1 football on scholarship or (help me Lord) as a walk on, and a Freshman in high school that wants to go to Columbia and then to med school. I am so thankful that she's pushing straight A's and complaining that she's not studying enough and half way descent at volleyball. My point is money is money, the name that goes with it (full ride, academic scholarship, pell grant, keys money) doesn't matter. You with 6 kids, I will pray for you.:thumb:
  5. Thank you. I showed this to my soon to be senior who has the "D-1 or bust" attitude. He's changed a bit, but.............
  6. Years ago, didn't they have the semis in the morning and the finals that night?
  7. The Herald Leader gave the Trinity QB and several other QB's props for a great season. Each list has its' own criteria. Pretty much a matter of opinion. Congrats to all for an award worthy season. Thank you for an awesome 2017 season. Many of you will be on to bigger and better things, I hope the players you leave behind will uphold the standard that you've set with your play.
  8. I believe out behind the softball field as you said. According to the article, they along with Daviess County are getting turf and new tracks.
  9. Yes, it is a valid question. Anytime you have these lists there is always someone getting left along the sidelines. From what I see, both kids have had seasons that anyone would be proud of. The kid from CCH got it on this list, on the next list could be the kid from Trinity. Subjective lists are just that, subjective. Who knows what the selectors were using for criteria? I was just asking what were the kid's 2017 numbers as opposed to his career stats. All that aside, both kids were worthy, they both had great seasons and above all they both won state championships.
  10. I totally agree. I didn't worry about that kind of stuff until I had one who is about to travel down that road and he may get looks from coaches such as this.
  11. Apollo approved for a new stadium; to be ready for the 2019 season. Moving to a new location on the campus. Wonder if this will have an effect on who applies
  12. The award is for this year not his career. Has outstanding numbers but you say nothing about what he did this year. All the kid from CCH did was go out and play every game. They won and the coaches voted him to the team. I doubt that he was overly concerned about winning anything other than the state championship which is what they did.
  13. Purdue is coming on quickly and if you notice a few kids from western Ky are showing up on that roster. I am sure these are kids he had his eye on when he was at Western.
  14. Great catch. Excellent concentration skills, but I agree. A great deal of luck involved.
  15. I agree, consistency has been a problem with the entire athletic program over on Frederica St. If the basketball team is willing to do the little things they may surprise quite a few people. They have shown that they can run and score, but rebounding and defense; isn't that always the way? Everybody wants to score but who wants to rebound and play defense? That will determine how far the devils can go. Hogg definitely needs to play up to his size, if he decides to, he could easily become a dominate force in the region, on both ends of the court. Tonight against Apollo should give us a clue.
  16. Let's see what Owensboro looks like coming off that win against Christian County. I have read that CC has a really good team. OHS must have caught them flat because they were down 21 before CC scored and there was a running clock before the end of the 3rd quarter (admittedly my first time seeing that in a basketball game). If OHS builds on this, they'll be a power to reckon with going forward. IMO if Lance Lewis continues his 3 point shooting as he has in his last two games, He'll be one of the top scorers in the region if not the state.
  17. Magic and Bird both made their teams better. The game that Magic played center when Jabar went down. Larry Bird willed his team to win too many times. No IMO they did not get too much credit for what they did. Yes, they both had immense talent on both teams but even with that, they elevated the play of all those HOFers. If you were starting a team Drexler would probably be better pick than Pippen, I don't know that I would take either one. Take out Jordan, Bird and Magic. Who would you take if you were starting a team? The last question you pose is very thought provoking. One of those chicken or the egg type questions. I like it. Don't have an answer but I like it. Good deal.:thumb:
  18. There was a running clock at the end of the 3rd quarter. I'd never seen that in a basketball game. Thought the official on the clock was sleeping at the wheel. Found out later that in was the rule. CC was as cold as it was outside at the beginning of the game, that really didn't help the situation.
  19. As much as I like Barkley, you can't have him at 3. Actually Magic and Bird should be tied at 2. Those two guys saved the NBA. Their battles were epic. Both were great in their own way with two totally different types of games. The kid from Akron better than MJ? That's a totally different thread but, I believe you are wrong. Just remember 6-0. 3peat, 3peat. Oh, by the way nothing wrong with 2 wrist bands on the wrist. Back in the day that was the style. Go look at some of the films from that time (if you can get past the shorts). The kid from Akron's hair line was backing up when he wore the head band. Bald or receding hair line, you pick.
  20. I did not say YOU thought that. You asked why I felt it was an insult and I told you what I thought. Jackson finished third. I believe that is why most are upset and it should have been closer. But it wasn't and he didn't finish second. It's Monday. I have to hit the trail and go to work. If that's the case for you also, I hope you have a good day.
