Did they make it to the region under Coach Johnson? I know they have a new gym that is super nice, so facilities seem to be strong.

12th Region Off-Season Discussion (2026-2027)
I’ve been around the region a long time, and have a really good memory of players since the 2000s. Leek is probably the most impactful player in uniqueness in that era. The only one that comes to mind is Spencer Perrin of Boyle Co. that went onto to play as Eastern KY. University. Both were supreme athletes for this region. Congratulations to Leek on a great accomplishment.

Travis Burns to be named Head Coach at Mercer County
That’s what I was getting at. I knew they had turmoil, but the schedule was extremely tough as well.

Travis Burns to be named Head Coach at Mercer County
Mercer was 1-9 last season I believe. Is anyone familiar enough with their personnel and schedule to give us an outlook for 2026?

Open Job: Pulaski County
Did Pulaski have a chance to rebuttal and not?

Open Job: Casey County
I seen Coach Carman was listed in their retirees that were recognized. He could be stepping down from coaching as well, but I haven't heard that. They may have to post it where he is retiring from teaching.

Toxic Parents, how does your school handle them?
This is all admin driven IMO. Do they set the standard that their coach is the head of the program, and have a chain of command set up. Good athletic directors can ease a ton of issues too.

Open Job: Marion County
5th region has been pure cinema.

Open Job: Cumberland County
Coach Claywell has resigned after 10 seasons at the helm.
-
Open Job: Nelson County
They will need to fill their vacant AD job first I would imagine. It has created quite a buzz online.
-
Open Job: Paul Laurence Dunbar
At Estill they played slower and ran a lot of sets. I watched his East team this year, and didn’t feel that way. They were in 5 out a lot and shot a lot of 3s.

Open Job: Model
Coach Evans has resigned. He cited another coaching opportunity, but it wasn't mentioned in his statement.

Scott County announces Steve Quattrocchi Head Boys Basketball Coach
He spent one season leading Dunbar, and has coached AAU for many seasons.

Open Job: Mercer County
Mercer should try to mimic Danville's hire from last season. May be too late in the game, but bring in an energy/culture builder and try to schedule down in the next cycle to have some success. And, keep their kids in county line.

Open Job: Garrard County
I had heard this too, but not sure this came to fruition.

Open Job: Garrard County
Interviews this week. Multiple regional assistants in the equation.

Hayden Shelton is the new coach at McLean County
This shows the pay at the NAIA level for assistants. Hard to make a living. Even at an elite program, there’s just not much for assistant pool. Nice pickup for the Cougars!

East Jessamine names Jason Seamands Head Boys Basketball Coach
Announced this afternoon. Coach Seamands is a seasoned coach that I know has done stints for LCA on both the girls and boys side. The girls won the Sweet Sixteen in 2007. I’m not sure what his recent stops are.

2026 Mercer County Titans
Do they have enough players to field a reputable team?

To SuperRegional or Not to SuperRegional
I think this can pick up steam with the RPI system. It can easily be used to seed a super regional now.
-
Open Job: Garrard County
Ryan Noe is a good piece to build around. He’s one of the better Freshman in the region.

To SuperRegional or Not to SuperRegional
Lawerence Co. lost in the district semis in 2025, and played their way back to the Sweet Sixteen at Rupp. I think the case for the super regional is district equity. Not all districts are created equally, and some good teams may be loaded up with superior teams and never have a shot to make a regional tournament.
