Open Job: Casey County

This was sent to me last night.  There has been no announcement by the school or Coach Carman about him resigning.

I seen Coach Carman was listed in their retirees that were recognized.  He could be stepping down from coaching as well, but I haven't heard that.  They may have to post it where he is retiring from teaching.

If that is the case, might be a case of resign the time needed then come back.

I believe it the old saying was "sit out 90 days" then you're eligible for re-hire or start a second retirement. Either way this is a tough job with limited resources.

Casey County was in the region finals roughly ten years ago. What a drop off the next decade.

I would say that's not a bad accomplishment for a rural county school.  There are a lot of schools that haven't been to the region finals in the last 10 years, big or small.

Many things have negatively affected the program over the years.  Just like a lot of schools, coaching turnover, players and parents not happy with the coach, players transfer to another school, etc.  Right now, I think this is a very hard place to be as a coach.

Very tough district as well, all things considered. PC, Rockcastle and Pulaski, not sure how long it’s been since they’ve won a district matchup.

I was curious after your comment, so I went and looked at Riherds.  The last time Casey won against their district opponents:

Rock: 12/16/2022

Somerset: 1/6/2017

Pulaski: 2/23/2016

Somerset won it this year.

That's a really long district losing streak.

According to you guys, this job could go unfilled, then what happens?

I don't think anyone said this would go unfilled.  I do believe it is just a hard place to be a coach.  Someone who loves the sport will always apply IMO.
