  1. You missed my point. Of course just having KSR there wouldn't fix it. But it's a symptom of the problem. The KHSAA is stale, old and boring. They don't think outside the box.
  2. Wonder why it's not doing well? Because they won't let KSR do a live broadcast from the event unless they have all the sponsors and Julian Tacket on. How absurd. You'd reach hundreds of thousands of people. The bureaucracy has gotten too entrenched. it's tale and boring.
  3. Great summary. I'll say that Kwun Dorsey provided some big minutes late in the year. He's their biggest player at 6'4. Nephew of Jerry Dorsey, former hOptown wide receiver and Indiana University receiver. And their 6th man is another freshman guard DJ Quarels. Son of state champion guard "DQ" Quarrels who is also an assistant coach. They have another freshman Guard, Will Bryan, who could probably provide some minutes vs. Campbell County if he needs to. But you're right. It's a significant step down if any of their starters have to sit too much. Also, if i'm not mistaken. All 5 starters are averaging in double figures over the last month. Crump has REALLY stepped his game up. he was the primary ball handler for a big chunk of the regional championship game against us.
  4. University Heights doesn't press. Sometimes they'll pick up man at 3/4 court but they don't press to create turnovers...

  6. Tandy was sick at The Lexington tournament and barley played vs Franklin county and Bryan station was the hottest team in the state at that point. But those games were 3 months ago. Rather silly to look back that far. I also think McGowan was still recovering from an injury.
  7. Don’t discount the uha supporting cast. McGowan, crump and hollowell have been averaging double figures over the last month. Crump has really stepped up his game. And McGowan and hollowell are playing very well. With all due respect to Campbell county... they don’t have the athletes or size we had to throw at Tandy and he still killed us. We gave the other guys shots and they made them and beat us. Tandy’s Passing has really improved as the year went on and it was on display the other night in the regional title game.
  8. By all accounts it sounds like this will be a great game. It's a change for UHA coming from a district tournament where they saw two teams who love to fly up and down the court and then a regional championship that was a physical brawl. Teams that have given UHA trouble this year are usually big and physical. While The Camels have some size it doesn't sound like it's the type of size that has bothered uha... This game boils down to UHA being able to defend for long stretches of time in the half court as well as rebounding. If they can do those two things they probably win. If not it could be tough for them to stay in it. I think Heights has the horses to get this win. So I'll go with UHA in a close one.
  9. McCracken has the ability to really frustrate some teams with their matchup zone. Making 3's is a key to beating them. they swarm drivers and make it tough to get in the lane. The flip side is that if McCracken isn't making 3's they are very average.
  10. McCracken is a classic region 1 team. SLOOOOOW pace of play, hard nosed defense, solid fundamentally. Will usually not beat themselves. Started the season slow but have played very well the last month or so.
  11. I think if you were to rank them "all time" I'd list the following. (using the whole career standard) 1. Greg Buckner (Acc Player of the year 13 year nba career and a state title at UHA) 2. Bird Averit - Hoptown High, all american at peperdine and long successful NBA career. 3. Chris Whitney - Great career at Christian County, solid career at Clemson then a long successful career in the nba as a role player. 4. Scotty Hopson - Only McDonald's all american ever (i think ) from region 2. All SEC player at Tennessee. Currently with the Dallas Mavericks 5. Travis Ford - While he didn't do anything professionally it's hard to deny his impact. Terrific High school player and a decorated college career at Mizzou and UK. 6. Anthony Hickey - He's low because he didn't play his entire career in region 2. But when he did he was great. State title, mr. basketball, nice career at lsu and OSU and currently playing overseas. Again, my standard is "entire career". Kyky could end up at the top of this list. But if you look at "entire career" i think this is a good start. Have to stop there. Add to this list.
  12. It depends on how you define “best”. If you define it as the best “high school” career I think he is working his way into the conversation. He will end up with close to 3,500 points and possibly two sweet 16 appearances and possibly more hardware. If you include post high school performance you have to wait. But through his junior year I think he has to be be in the conversation if you are just judging by what everybody had done to this point. One has to realize that he/uha had to beat the leading scorer in christian county history (at his best) to make the sweet 16. That’s no small feat.
  13. My second favorite team, University Heights will be playing Campbell County in the Sweet 16 next Thursday. Can somebody post a summary on the Camels? One thing that has been tough to find is a roster with height. I noticed their top player averages nearly a double double. How big are they? What do they do particularly well? Good Luck to both teams... stinks that you guys won't get to see my guy T-Ware at the sweet 16. But you'll get to see the best player from KY in a while in Tandy...
  14. It's close to Union County. So that's nice. Honestly, it's about as centrally located as EKU is for the all a.
  15. I’d love to find some Of the comments you guys made when I said LCA could challenge Scott County.
  16. Yeah. I’d say we got the benefit of the whistle most of The night. We clothes lined tandy on a break away layup and no call. And they gave us the ball. Heights earned this one. Great defensive adjustment by Shouse late to go to a zone but shade it to ware. It really confused us. I’d say Shouse has shed the “can’t coach” lable. I would have never dreamed we would lose with T-ware for 40 and Kyky going for “just” 33. But I bet he had more Then 5 assists.
  17. ONe of the best high school games I’ve seen. We triple teamed Tandy for most of the night and he still willed his way to a win. His supporting cast stepped up a little more than ours. The freshman guard Crump is the truth. Kid is cold.
  18. Great summary. Some around town think UHA is about to go on their own run. Their freshman group is described as "special" by a lot of folks. The three guard group of Crump, Bryan (grandson of former mayor Wally Bryan), and DJ Quarels (son of guard on UHA state title team) are terrific. They've played a ton this year with Crump considered a top 5 freshman in the state. They also have some other kids in that freshman group that my UHA friends are hyping. There is a young shooter who had 23 in the freshman regional title game and Amani McGee is going to be really good once he grows. I've also heard they have a Hall kid in 8th grade who is outstanding and would likely have dressed on a lot of UHA teams except they actually have a full roster this year. Hoptown has some decent young guys. At County, there is a TON of worry about us having nothing coming up. There is a big kid who a lot of people are excited about bu that is pretty much it. We'll see how things develop. Kids can transfer easily to build a "super team" as some have discussed. But if things hold true I look for Heights to go on a run for the next few years.
  19. That's my point. People always say a "group" is going to do it. But it never seems to work out. Madisonville is the next "group" that is supposed to do it. And I agree. In two years they should have a good shot. But things tend to happen.
