Bowling Green’s defense stinks and I have a hard time believing they’re going to stay the favorites to win 5A as it doesn’t seem to be getting any better. There was a lot of talk about LCA’s defense being bad. Am I expected to believe Beechwood would hold LCA to less than 50? Dixie heights may be good, but they are not BG or Boyle.

Just a few years ago (2016ish) there was quite a bit of tough competition near Mayfield, but now not so much. Is it reasonable to Mayfield to travel to Owensboro or BG each once a year? I feel like playing either Owensboro, O Cath, BG or SW would be a good schedule booster.

I’ll go with. BG - 45 Station - 28 I again don’t know much about Bryan Station besides them being a formidable squad in recent history.

I’m very happy with how BG responded last night, the offense looked awesome. Everyone contributed. The defense still has a ways to go, but did look improved last night, especially in their run defense. Owensboro showed a lot of fight and came back towards the end. I think both teams will continue to improve. I’d also like to say I’m very refreshed to see BG throwing to the tight ends. Matthew Klein has been awesome in the first two games.

I honestly assumed it was a trainer or something, but it was kinda funny watching him appear out of nowhere.

Who is the guy on Owensboro’s sideline that keeps walking on the field and talking to the refs?

I have faith in Coach Spader improving the BG defense drastically in the coming weeks. Look forward to seeing how they fare against Owensboro.

Greenwood is adding a boys team, although they will only be competing as a JV team this year. I’m currently an assistant coach at Bowling Green and have been since 2018, it’s great that it’s growing in this area. You bring up some great points. Usually, our best players also play football as it translates extremely well for footwork and physicality. The BG school district, and BG parks and Rec have done a fantastic job supporting the growth of the sport here. BG was a mix of all schools until 2018, when two players were able to spear head creating a team at South Warren. From then Parks and Rec began to flourish and now Greenwood finally has enough players, however almost all of them are freshmen or sophomores. As for some news sources, I recommend laxnumbers.com for mathematical rankings, schedules, records and history. There are two KY lax Twitter accounts who provide scores and updates. KYlaxnews and kyboyslax. I hope to see the sport continue to grow outside the major two cities. Northern Kentucky is a great example of where it has flourished.
