The Purples travel to eastern Jefferson County to take on the Centurians of CAL. 
BG was scheduled to scrimmage Male, but due to the JCPS Bus Debacle that fell through. BG very fortunate that CAL would scrimmage them on the fly. 
 

This scrimmage was 2 varsity quarters plus one offensive series each in the third and 2 modified JV running clock quarters. 
BG got the ball first marched down the field and stalled in the red zone. But Brandon Widenor hit a 38 yd FG. 
CAL took the kickoff back to the BG 30 and very talented QB Cole Hodge threw a great ball for a CAL TD. 
BG punted. 
on CALs next drive they got back to about the BG 30 but Hodge on 3rd down threw an INT that Greyson Newman took back to the CAL 30. 
BG would then settle for a nice 35 yd FG. 
Both teams then had a few fruitless drives before Duece Bailey would find Travey Barber for a 50-yd TD. 
Right before the half, CAL had a nice drive primarily of Hodge to Hodge that resulted in the second and final CAL TD. 
The JVs played hard but neither found oaydirt. Final tally BG 20 CAL 14. 
 

Once CAL gets to 3A they are going to score a bucketload of points. They have some really nice players and from afar it would seem alot of young talent too. Cole Hodge is a gifted QB and #1 WR Hodge is a real playmaker. Worthy of all state consideration I believe. 
BG overall looked pretty good tonight. WR CJ Sweeney had the first 4 catches in a row!  The young RBs keep making plays as starter Huddleston still trying to get back. 
The DLine had a good night tonight. Not much rushing yards at all tonight 

But Brandon Wideners kicks for BG we’re great and WR Ethan Warder kicked a 60 yd punt. Impressive. Still many things to work on. 
Good work for both teams. Thankful for Coach Cantwell and CAL and Purples coaches for working quickly to make this happen. Looking forward to the Raffertys Bowl when Mr Boley comes to town. 

This scares me as my Red Devils got man handled by Boyle tonight… Purples looking like a prime candidate for another title in 5A.

 The kickers name is Braden Widener, just so you’re aware in the future.  He’s the son of the soccer coach and a phenomenal soccer player as well.
