Disclosure is not an issue for strong performers - it's welcomed. That's the fundamental tension in this thread. Lack of disclosure protects weaker performers and generally does not benefit stronger performers. Who refs the Super Bowl? The highest rated officials at each position. Same for the NBA finals, NCAA Final Four, etc. Names are named and high performers are recognized. I've never understood why there isn't full disclosure - weaker performers should be counseled out and replaced for the good of the game. Instead, everyone is left to wonder - or more likely argue on their own - who is strong vs. who isn't, and the weaker performers show up year after year. These are adults who choose to do a job and get paid. They should be fully accountable. People can say it's thankless - there are MANY more thankless jobs than being a high school official.

My customers ask me questions about my decision making at work - they are stakeholders in that process like players/coaches are stakeholders in games. And I provide information back to my customers. Are ratings for officials shared when requested? My company shares information on my performance when requested. Not sure how you are coming at this, or what industry you work in. The fact that you see coaches and players as "outside" the process is telling. The lack of disclosure around HS/college officials' performance is arcane in modern society. Even the professional leagues are in evaluating/making public feedback on officiating performance.

And the players - who IMO are the most important stakeholders in the game but often get lost in the posturing and indignancies about the adults who coach/ref/watch.

Held is the best decision maker on the team and as much can go wrong inbounding the ball as can go right. The inbounder is often unguarded and thus can be a real weapon - I saw Lexi take a pass back after inbounding and knock down an uncontested 3 - great call and a great shot. The issue for Cooper last night was not Held inbounding - it was players not making shots they've made all year.

Looked good to me - that second step was a long, strong step - created the separation he needed to get the shot off.

I'm not for slamming anybody, and I know officiating is a challenging job. ' That said - they are getting paid, and all anyone is asking for is a competent job. Officials have a material impact on the game, and the fact that they are never interviewed about their performance/calls is a little odd, especially in this era of accountability and "transparency." It might help if people point out the officials they think do a consistently good job, too.

Dixie vs. Cooper or vs. CCH in the opening round of regional now a very likely possibility.

Wow. If it sticks people wanting to see Dixie vs CCH or Cooper may get that in the opening round.

The Ryle magical mystery tour continues. Cooper is a great team, and they clearly wanted to make a statement tonight. But starters scoring 3 points in the first half? 25 points for the entire game? Crazy. Watch they win their first regional game...

Joy made good decisions and shots last night - a major reason why Conner won and a well-deserved all district selection.

People are being encouraged to name names. Thinking about it, anyone who knows officials by name, and knows the game, should be able to give credible feedback. We will probably debate the second criteria most of all...

21-5 run by Cooper to start the 4th and take the lead. Late TOs doomed the Jags. Hurst (Conner) MVP - Held (Cooper) one heck of a player.

One other thing about this rule - it's rarely called. Should either be a point of emphasis or done away with. Ridiculous how players are allowed to camp out without any repercussions.

Very tough loss for Conner, and a great win for Ryle. Ryle had too much in the paint for Conner to handle, and really executed their interior game very well. The energy in the gym was terrific - both schools showed up loud and proud. A much different experience than some regular season games I attended. Good luck to Ryle against Cooper and at BB&T.

First game is always the hardest to prepare for. Now the nerves are worked through and the kids can play.

Big 3rd quarters are a Cooper signature. Sullivan does a great job making adjustments and focusing his team at half time, and the players respond with great intensity at both ends of the court. Scoring 30 and allowing 9 in an 8 minute quarter - wow...

The Conner community will make this happen. Long overdue IMO - Conner's facilities are in desperate need of upgrades and it's clear tax $ isn't the answer.
