Man SK is not as good as Cov Cath. There is a reason Cov Cath has several guys who will have there full college paid for by playing football, and SK will most likely not have any. That is not to bash SK, it's just reality. SK would have very few starters start at Cov Cath. I mean when you have big time 6'5" athletes at wide receiver and a D1 QB, that's just hard to stop at the High school level.

Cov Cath has several guys going both ways. beechwood really only has about 3 that go both ways full time. Thats not many for a 1a school.

I thought Corbin's line was small. They actually have a guy who was a wide receiver at the beginning of the year. Corbin's QB was bigger than their lineman.

I think it will be a great game. I think Beechwood is better than Kings and Kings made a game of it. Beechwood's strength is defending the pass and I also think Beechwood has a better offensive and defensive line. Cov Cath has great and big receivers and if Beechwood contains that then it will be interesting. Beechwood is definitely better than last year with about 90% of the team returning from last season. Right now I think Cov Cath wins 28-17 but wouldn't be shocked if Beechwood wins. I know freshman football doesn't mean much but when the Cov cath senior class were freshman they were lucky to beat Beechwood and the beechwood junior class beat Cov Cath as freshman.

Corbin is good. They beat the #1 team in TN 3a and that team only lost 28-24 to 6a TN powerhouse Maryville last night. Maryville was #1 in 6a or was.

They gave Beechwood a tough game last week. Rain had a little to do with it and Beechwood failed to score inside the 5 a couple of times, but they play hard and physical. Good win on the road for them.

Agree with most of this except Beechwood is bigger. Corbin has a pretty small line but they execute and have a really good defense. I think this one is tight all the way through and expect a lower scoring game.

Considering Scott County struggled with Lafayette and a team Cov Cath beat 49-2 beat Lafayette 25-0, I would say Cov Cath is better. Now scores don't predict other results, but that is all we have to go on.

I agree JV does not mean much, but Still Highlands has like 75 kids on the varsity roster and is a 5a school. Not to mention the score was a lot closer than the game was in reality. beechwood also pulled most of the starters at the start of the Highlands scoring drive.

They have Corbin this week. Corbin just blasted Pulaski County who I believe was in the 5a state championship last year. They knocked off the #1 3a Tennessee team the week before. Corbin will probably be ranked around #8 in the state all divisions included this week. They are really good.

It will play itself out. Right now Beechwood has a long way to go. The offense through 2 games has been pretty stagnant and too predictable. The line blocking has not been great so far either. The defense has been okay but they have some weaknesses that good team will exploit. I fear the huge receivers for Cov Cath are going to present a big problem for our small DB's. The need to tighten up quickly with three of next 4 against Corbin, Cov Cath and Simon Kenton.

I agree Cov Cath is good but Maybe Henry Clay is just not good. Tate's Creek torched them running and passing the ball as well.

This is true. A good running back may make a couple of athletic plays but at the end of the day you need good line play to make things happen consistently. For example. Jake Chisholm seems to be a very good running back but only had 39 yards on 12 carries against Cov Cath. That was due to line play. It's always been that way. Open some holes and the running back looks much better.

Only thing I can go off is one game I saw Ryle play at Covington Catholic. Cov Cath has an all new offensive line and defensive line with no seniors and started a couple of sophomores. Ryle was dominated and the score was closer than reality. Now Cov Cath is good but I was shocked a 6a school with Ryles numbers was dominated as much as they were. Save for the first play of the game it was boring domination. Then Ryle followed it up with an overtime win over a really bad Henry Clay team that might not win a game this year. Maybe I am just crazy and Ryle will flip the switch. The other troublesome thing for Ryle is that the JV team also got blasted 48-0 by the Cov Cath JV. Maybe Ryle is just holding back...

Maybe, maybe not. Don't be surprised if those a close games. But Beechwood doesn't have many lopsided losses regardless of the competition. They also don't shy away. They have games against SK and games against the #1 team in 5a and the number #1 team in 3a. Maybe Ryle should schedule Beechwood next year, it would give then a better look then a lot of teams they face.

So you think it's ok on a JV level that a 1a school drubbed a 6a school. Beechwood also had 6 sophomores start varsity last year and did not play in that game. And Ryle played a bunch of juniors who now start varsity as well as your opening day starting QB.

This isn't middle school. Corbin is much better than Ryle this year. Last year beechwood played Ryle on the JV level with freshman, sophomores and two juniors and won 33-6.

You will find out regarding Highlands in two weeks. Has Ryle fixed the passing game? If not teams will start loading the box. As for HC, I was shocked Ryle did not blow them out after seeing what Tate's Creek did to them the week before.

Have you seen beechwoods offensive and defensive lines this year? They are not exactly small. Adam Derry is 6'3 275, and I believe the smallest offensive lineman is 240. On they defensive line they have ends that are 6'2 200, 6'4" 220, tackles that are 6'3" 275 and 6'4" 240.
