The Hardin County area used to have one, but folks (notably from the three specific HCS high schools) got tired of Elizabethtown winning it all the time.

Johnson Central lost three times last year in a good, but not great region, and graduated 50-plus PPG in Blair and Rice. I'd put them among the best in football this season, sure, but I don't think they'll be top-5, top-10 and maybe not even top-15 in hoops this season. And Bowling Green lost its coach, All-USA underclassman (Harmon), state tourney standout Taylor (went D-1 I think) and super athlete Deangelo Wilson. Bowling Green doesn't return ANYBODY who averaged more than 6 PPG last year.

They might make a run at Ramey, but that would be like WKU making a run at Zion Harmon. Close to home, but Harmon will get offers from bigger colleges/better conferences. I'd think Ramey would wind up at IU or Purdue or Mizzou before SLU.

Driskell also plays football. IIRC, he starts both at OL and DL (I know I saw him on the field vs. KCD).

North Hardin (1-0) at Central Hardin (1-0). Winner is the 1, loser is the 2 as both beat Meade (0-2). Russellville (2-0) at Crittenden County (2-0). KCD (1-0) at Frankfort (1-0). Both beat Holy Cross (0-2), so winner is the 1, loser is the 2. Not for the district title, but Edmonson County (2-1) at LaRue County (2-1) is for the No. 2 seed as Elizabethtown (4-0) already locked up the 1.

Per his own post on twitter, John Hardin senior Mickey Pearson committed to the NCAA Division-I Saint Louis Billikens on Saturday night (October 14th). Pearson, the 5th Region Preseason Player of the Year by The Cats' Pause, held more than a dozen D-I offers before picking SLU.

Ethan Driskell is a senior center for Holy Cross.

One NBA draft site says Zion was born in March 2002, so he would turn 19 at the tail end of his senior season. He would be 18 when his senior year of school started, so he WOULD be eligible to play as a KHSAA senior.

Honestly don't know. CAL comes closest. Different offense, but CAL offense is ball control. But Elizabethtown coach Mark Brown is famous for his Wing-T, running, timing and misdirection teams. I doubt LaRue can scheme up anything he hasn't seen before. On the flip side, LaRue County's schedule has not prepared them for Elizabethtown's dynamic offense, tough defense, depth, athleticism, senior leadership, coaching, crowd, turf and just pure hatred for the opponent at hand (Hart and Taylor aren't football rivals for LaRue like E'town is for LaRue. Hardin schools and LaRue hate each other. But the three Hardin schools and one LaRue school jointly hate E'town ... the one independent school of this group of five).

Central Hardin was at 1,817 last year, making it the 14th biggest school in the state. North was at 1,583, making it the 23rd biggest. Scott County (2,470) is currently the largest, but will be splitting. And I'm assuming new school Douglass pulled some from No. 2 Henry Clay (2,398), No. 3 PLD (2,245) and No. 4 Lafayette (2,215). Assuming EVERY student in 10-12 returned (doubtful) or transfers made up for it, the current freshman class would have to be, at minimum, 574 (keep in mind that is still 100 bigger than last year's freshman class, a 22 percent growth), just to get to 2,000. Even if it was 650 (haven't seen that number listed ANYWHERE), that gets CH to 2,076. Breaks the mark, but not "well over 2,000." If that's the case, than I do apologize for my previous math. I thought last year's senior class was bigger than that (391). As far as North, no way it is near 2K. North had 1,233 returning from last year, so it would have to have a MONSTER freshman class (567?) just to get to 1,800. Last year's freshman class was 436. Unless Central Hardin has grown THAT much over the last 2 years, it was a couple hundred shy of being the largest school in the state. I graduated from Central Hardin in the 1990s. At that time, both Central Hardin AND North Hardin had over 2,000 kids. I'll eat crow if I am wrong, but I don't think either is close to 2K currently.

Not a POLL .... computer formula like MaxPreps, the Courier-Journal Litkenhous or the Herald-Leader Cantrell. But CalPreps takes out-of-state games INTO account.

If Central Hardin was against ANY other 6A district pairing, I would be concerned. However, CH is in the weakest region of 6A by far and one of the weakest (by averge ranking of teams) in the 3 larger classes.

John Hardin IS that small, though. 2-A in track and cross country. Although technically NOT illegal, how John Hardin has shrunk in the middle of a housing boom is head scratching. If the plan was to make North Hardin more powerful by making it bigger AND give the HCS system a chance at small school championships with John Hardin ... well, that is failing miserably.

Lexington had two votes this week. Paducah has 2, but looks like The Sun didn't vote. Louisville has way more eligible voters, but TV stations aren't voting.

Doesn't Waggener have Rice, too? If so, the Wildcats have three players better than anybody LaRue or Casey can put on the field. And Waggener's strength of schedule waxes Casey and LaRue. Switch the skeds and the bottom of the rankings definitely change.

I know some schools, especially Fort Knox, like having Week 0 open because being so transient, you need more time to condition and fix the chemistry (in addition to paperwork red tape). You could force the season up a week, but Fort Knox would be at a huge disadvantage (like FK needs more mountains to climb to get back to relevance).

Central Hardin's top playmakers are juniors (or in a couple of cases, sophomores). John Hardin still adjusting to new coach and North Hardin played a schedule in which most of their losses were given (except Elizabethtown, expected more from North Hardin there). While nearby LaRue County is unbeaten and getting compared to the 2002 team, I'm confident the three HCS schools (CH, JH, NH) and Elizabethtown would be unbeaten and barely challenged against LaRue's sked. Now John Hardin is a different problem. There is a housing BOOM near John Hardin, and yet the school is NOT growing. John Hardin's district has been gerrymandered... hard. You have kids going to Central Hardin who are closer to John Hardin and kids going to North Hardin who are closer to JH. You also have empty spaces/unused space at JH when some teachers at CH do NOT have permanent rooms (as I have been told). As far as physical space, John Hardin is huge. Not many schools could add in 400 kids and be perfectly fine ... John Hardin could (at least according to the fire marshal).

Likely winless? Stretch much? Waggener beats Thomas Nelson without Brents and Western Hills beats Estill without Robinson. Handily. Waggener might have a LOSING record even with Brents. They still have Central and KCD to go.

I saw Rondale Moore set the Trinity single-game receptions and single-game receiving yards record against a team which would be favored against 90 percent (or more) of KHSAA teams. But also saw Nick Bohn have the best regular season game EVER for a Louisville metro quarterback.

Although it wasn't a KHSAA school, North Hardin CHRISTIAN also had 8-man either in the 2000s or very early in this decade. If KHSAA brought it back, I could see NHC leaving KCAA for the KHSAA

If the outcome of a FORCED game has no impact, then that game .. should not be forced. Especially to be forced to go on the road in a meaningless game. (Meaning teams in blind-draw districts shouldn't play each other in regular season.)

Again, that is POSTSEASON. I have NOT seen, nor do NOT know about ANY KHSAA bylaw prohibiting exhibition or regular season games. That page you linked even allows for districts and regions (see the fees), but you think regular season is barred? That's not how it works. That's not how any of this works.

Wait, the KHSAA has a live stream rule? I missed that one. I know PLAYOFF rules are different, but CAL had a live stream of its Central Hardin game ... at Central Hardin.
