  2. Pretty sure D-I lineman recruit Walker Parks, who holds an offer from Notre Dame IIRC, transferred to Frederick Douglass from Lexington Christian. Parks will help their line.
  3. Three major issues: 1) Different Soldier base. Because of the shifting around of platoons, we have a different type of family on base than in the past. 2) Living off post. In the past, athletes could live off Post and still attend Fort Knox. Now, even if both parents work ON Post, if they live off base, the student cannot attend. This has helped Hardin County Schools, especially John Hardin, immensely. 3) Leadership. Have been told in the past that families could stick around longer if the Soldier (mother or father of athlete) asked to stay. Nowadays, Fort Knox is lucky to have 10 returnees PERIOD -- not counting starters, just 10 kids who were on the previous roster.
  4. Already filled. Jessica Gunby, who played in college at Campbellsville, is the new NHHS softball. She's already the NHHS volleyball coach.

  6. Just because they do it, does not mean they do it WELL. I've seen complaints about so-and-so media not covering tourney A because they thought it was more imperative to cover a team in tourney B. And the good officials are likely to get the bigger tourneys. That's just how it works. Could we class? Sure. But please do NOT like it is just that easy to flip the switch. There are plenty of mountains in the way that have nothing to do with coming up with a good alignment or tourney setup. Bunch of other factors too.
  7. It's a lot more work for A LOT of people. 1) KHSAA. 2) Officials/Umps. More tournaments mean more games. 3) Media. You want to force a newspaper or radio station to choose between a big school or same school (playing on same day) or between being able to stay close to home as opposed to travel and get stats off gamechanger? 4) Fans. Can't watch all the local teams if they're all spread out. 5) Teams. Four classes were too spread out. Even in three classes, some programs will get screwed as far as district alignments. I have yet to see: A) Alignment B) Postseason Setup For classification that I have agreed with.
  8. Official Link: All State and Miss Softball Here is the 2018 KSCA All-State Softball team combined in ABC order by school 98 players from 64 schools were honored. Raceland (1A) had team-high FOUR players selected:
  9. It's LIVE video streaming. There is NO rights for it, same thing for baseball. ONLY NFHS partner (PrepSpin) can do live video streaming. The KHSAA DOES offer a pay stream for all baseball and softball final four. Audio is fine (radio or webstream) and has been for a while. I do NOT see a problem drawing the line at live video.

  11. I emailed Eviston and tweeted the official account for rosters. No response from either.
  12. Team (MaxPreps/Coaches) Scott County (1/1) Ballard (2/4) East Carter (2/4) Christian County (3/3) Warren East (5/5) are the consensus top five teams entering @KHSAASoftball state tournament (rankings are for the 16 State teams only)

  14. Here is each region's Player of the Year and Coach of the Year (pretty sure a school must be a member of coaches association to appear on the ballot or vote, IE pay to play):
  15. Um, it was ALWAYS optional before the dead period rule went into effect. The problem was, schools didn't even give kids an option, so the state (with a backing from the MAJORITY of those surveyed) stepped in and took charge. Other states followed Kentucky's lead, in fact. If you check the post from the bylaw pdf, you will see people originally wanted a four-week dead period.
  16. He missed four games last year for reasons I will not detail here. Stat wise, he accounted for less than 125 yards (combined rushing and passing) and less than 1.5 touchdowns per game. Taking stats into account and that CAL was still very good without him, that does NOT scream overall top five in the state. He is tough as nails, though, when he is on the field.
  17. The junior girls were announced a while ago. I have NOT seen the junior boys, though.
  18. It's Jeff Brown, most recently of the Morgan County girls. Coach Troy Lee Thomas had it on twitter three days ago and I missed it: Twitter A big congratulations to Coach Jeff Brown of Morgan County, who is now the new head girls coach at John Hardin High School. #Happyforyou Morgan County's KHSAA directory page shows girls basketball is open: School Directory | Kentucky High School Athletic Association
  19. Elizabethtown girls have won 13 consecutive 17th District Tournament titles. GIRLS’ PREP BASKETBALL: Elizabethtown edges John Hardin, 49-46 for 17th District title | Sports | thenewsenterprise.com
  20. I've seen X play three times now. They're pretty solid across the board. They can hit 1-9, defense is solid and pitchers get the job done. Saw PRP at State last year and twice this year. Not having Rucker and Glass available to pitch hurt a lot and as good as X is, I don't think there's any way the Tigers put 17 on Schmeltz-Glass-Rucker. The bottom of the fifth killed PRP. Bases loaded and no outs and couldn't score (and break the tie at 5). X had the momentum and Schmeltz out of the game and rolled from there. If the coaches drop PRP in the polls far for this would be a huge mistake. Tied in the sixth with a NATIONALLY ranked team and drop a few spots would be harsh when they could blow out a nobody and stay where they were.
