Raceland Open
This game was over before it started. Both teams were virtually nonexistent, very low turnout for such a hyped game, and those that were in attendance, really didnt see anything special. That hydration specialist for OPEN has to be a D1 prospect, though. I know that both teams came out injury free, due to the total lack of tackling, running, passing, catching, or kicking from both squads. Very disapointed with the outcome of this game, it seems as if it didnt even happen.

Raceland versus OPEN Discussion
I know the place well, easy to miss though. Its behind that thing, around the curve of the watchadiddle, next to the old what's his face building. The drive always reminds me of that song, "I'll never forget ol' what's her name"

Raceland versus OPEN Discussion
I listened to last weeks OPEN match up with NCC. Tuned into AM000 to pick that one up. It was just white noise...tried to track down some film to try and help Salmons and Co out on the scouting report as well. Was supposed to meet the guy at the Bluegrass Drive-In to swap. I showed up, but no one ever came. Typical OPEN move if you ask me. How can they be on everyone's schedule and no one ever know anything about them?

Raceland 43 Lawrence County 16
Rams have to play with more composure.

Raceland 43 Lawrence County 16
Cam Webb went down as well, but Gideon and Hale did a good job in his absence. Hopefully its nothing serious though.

Lawrence County/Raceland Updates
Ugly ugly ugly. Rams have got to get the penalty crap straightened out. Two weeks now, over 100 yards in penalties.

Bluegrasspreps' Class 1A Rankings - Discussion (9/26)
^^i agree but depth is something that Nicholas doesnt have as much of especially upfront. I agree, I was suprised to see Nicholas beat Brossart. That being said they didnt blow them out of the water and NC's lack of a passing game and lack of a strong secondary, makes them too one demensional on both sides of the ball. That, imo, could be Rville's downfall as well. Raceland, Pikeville, Paintsville, and Hazard are all pretty balanced on both sides of the ball. Couple that with the depth, and I think one of the top 4 from the east bring a title back to the Mtn side of Ky.

Btw, i dont see Nicholas Co beating Hazard...

Bluegrasspreps' Class 1A Rankings - Discussion (9/26)
Im shifting my thinking now. Im thinking that Paintsville and Raceland may both be better than Rville. Im not sold on Beechwood yet, but these 4, imo, have put a little bit of a gap between them and the 5-7 teams. Though I think Pikeville and Hazard are good enough beat any of the top 4, but not likely as it stands right now. Beechwood is likely better than their body of work suggest, but their offense isnt very explosive right now. Which is a general trend among past title contenders. But Idk if Russellville's defense is strong enough right now to be number 1. Raceland looks like the most well rounded team in terms of offense and defense. But their special teams play is weak. So each have their hang ups. Its just a matter of match ups really. Very balanced class from 1-6, but, I do think 1A is way down this year as a whole. But its making for better competition.

Boyd County/Ashland Predictons
Ashland is trending up, getting kids back, and the staff is figuring out what to do with the smaller line upfront than they are used to. Boyd seems to be in reverse or atleast stalled out with the injuries to their two main playmakers. Boyd comes out inspired but is quickly put in check by Roberts. Ashland 42 Boyd Co 14

Raceland 29 Portsmouth West (OH) 6
Clean sweep for NEKY over OH teams this year. Who says KY boys cant play football?
-
Paintsville/Bourbon County Updates
Championship caliber teams find ways to win even when they have played like crap. Raceland had 4 turnovers against Portsmouth West and still managed a win. October 21st is going to be an epic showdown.

Bluegrasspreps' Class 1A Rankings - Discussion (9-19)
Beechwood being in the shape they are in, being so soph dominated in the roster. You had better get them now, bc the next two years, will likely be the reign of the Tiger.

Raceland @ Portsmouth West, OH. ..(9/23), Thoughts, Prediction ?
West looks to be pretty quick upfront, not huge, but solid size. Pretty straight foward, line up and run right at you and try to pop the occassional go route and if you're not on your toes, you will indeed get burnt. They remind me a little bit of West Carter. With that said, you better be 21 points better than any team you play from across the pond when your playing at their place bc, you're a 2 TD underdog going in. All things considered, this is one of those "uh-oh" games for me all year. We made it through the first two (Ashland and Greenup) and have come a long way since then. Each and every week, the team we have played exposed a weakness, the following week, that weakness was ratified. SPECIAL TEAMS is next on the table to be cleaned up. I feel like Raceland comes out and makes a statement this week. May start slow, but numbers will take over around mid 3rd quarter. Raceland 38 Port West 14

Bishop Brossart @ Nicholas County Predictions (Week 6)
Going with Brossart in a slight upset. Nicholas County is a little overrated imo and Brossart slightly underrated. Brossart 28 Nicholas Co 21
-
Nicholas County 17 West Carter 6
Its a nice win, but the score kind of tells me that Nicholas Co isnt anywhere near Paintsville, Raceland, or Pikeville in regaurds to coming out of the east like many have been saying.

Raceland 62 Lucasvile Valley (OH) 19
Hey, two OH teams got spanked by two KY squads...its a good day to be a Kentuckian.

Lucasville Valley, OH. @ (1A) Raceland ...thoughts
Just looking at it all on paper coupled with Raceland taking last years Valley team down to the wire, who was an "all-time" school team, Raceland should roll. May be a bit hungover from last week, but I say the Rams by as much as they want. Btw, championship caliber teams dont get hungover after a big game. That is the next hurdle to jump imo.

Bluegrasspreps' Class 1A Rankings - Discussion (9/12)
I would probably have to agree that this is the weakest 1A class from top to bottom since the new alignment. WITH THAT SAID, its likely the most compeitive. For what it's worth, my top 5 would be 1. Paintsville (to be the man u gotta beat the man and they beat the man like a drum) 2. Russellville (havent done anything earth shattering, they have done what they should 3. Raceland (very balanced and explosive offensively and gery difficult to do much of anything on defensively. If not for a few busted plays here and there, they wouldnt have been scored on. This def will be scary good come mid october) 4. Beechwood (they have taken care of business, maybe not in the most amazing way, but they have. History and reputation aids in this as well. 5. Pikeville (some cracks in the foundation were exposed against Paintsville and if they dont get and stay healthy, it may stay that way. 6. Hazard (kind of in the same boat as Beechwood really) Nicholas Co has alot to prove yet.

Boyd County @ Russell Predictions 9/16
Im going with Boyd in a close one. Like Doc said, nows the time we fond out if they have turned the corner or not. Russell's def is tough, but as a team arent as fast as they usually are. I like Boyd's atheleticism and ability to score quickly. My question to the Red Devil faithful. Where in the world is the Nick Conlwy we have come to know?

Raceland 35 Greenup County 13
This score is in no way a reflection of how good greenups defense was tonight. We were sloppy, but GC's LBs, man they are GOOD. Props to the Ram staff though for allowing the OL to weather the storm early on. Again, this team showed me something that I havent seen in years past. KILLER INSTINCT. John Cherry was an absolute beast tonight on both sides of the ball. Major team guy tonight. Caught passes, made 2 ints, blocked VERY well from his WR spot. Big hits from both squads all night. Our depth up front is going to be hard to deal with. The switching up of the QBs was a very mature and sound choice that Scott made. I said it last year and i will say it again this year. If Greenup can hit their stride offensively, they are scary good. Hate that they cant seem to get clicking on that side of the ball.
