Oops. Didn't see this until after my LeFors post.

I've heard rumors on our end of town that LeFors from CAL would be in the mix. That doesn't seem likely to me because he has no ties.

I hadn't voted in this poll yet, but when I saw it was 12-12, I had to throw my vote in there. I see a lot of Colts fans on their side of the poll, and a lot of everyone else on the other side. I don't disagree that CAL should be the favorite. I think the last time we beat them in the regular season, Elvis sang the National Anthem.....

I had gotten all the way through three pages with seeing Carr from CAL named. Glad you put his name in the hat. I'm not sure he's top 10 in the state, but with all of the names that have been mentioned in this thread, I feel sure that he belongs in the conversation.

I admit to not being well versed on teams outside of Louisville. Lexington Christian at #2 in 2-A surprised me. What are their quality wins?

I would love to see the Generals make this interesting, if even for a half. It was only three years ago that DeSales beat them 76-0 while playing the JV starting in the 2nd quarter and the freshman team the entire second half. They are a program on the rise, and they have already stolen most of Nelson County's thunder.

I think the Tigers will take care of business, setting up a big game next week!

I don't disagree at all with your low scoring assessment. In fact, if it's a shootout, I think that is to CAL's advantage. DeSales has a LOT of young players playing vital roles, so one of the keys to the game will be how those guys handle the situation. They have played in front of a massive crowd at the opening game, and a REALLY loud crowd for the Fern Creek game. They will see both Friday.

Here we go! This will be a LONG work week. The Colts had to go without their starting QB Friday. Not sure yet if starter will be back, so CAL will have to prepare for two QBs whose skill sets could not possibly be any different.

Now that the X-Trinity game is over, this game will become the focus of the city this week. It has become must-see football, even for people who have no ties to either team. Can't wait!

CAL week.....here we go! It's a GREAT rivalry and I look forward to seeing how we stack up against them at this point in the season. I would have made them a two TD favorite earlier in the year. At this point, I would say they remain the favorite, but by a much smaller margin.

I absolutely agree. CAL is consistently better than any of the 6-A schools we have played the past few years. Within the LLouisville Metro area, I think you have Trinity, X, Male & Manual. Then I think both CAL and DeSales are in that next tier with PRP.

I think we are a bad match-up for NH because our secondary is so strong. There were just no openings to be found for the NH receivers. I actually disagree with both you and the Colt fans. I thought both sides received a few bogus calls. However, if we're talking about the effect they had on the game, the "hugging the punter" penalty (at least that's what I'm calling it) gave NH their first first down and led to their first score. All in all, I was curious to see how our secondary would play against a good passing game and I really liked the answer. Offensively, the Colts have two things they didn't have last year - ridiculous depth at the skill positions and breakaway speed with more than one guy.

Very impressive win against a quality 6-A opponent, and the Colts managed to pull it off without the services of their starting QB. It's hard to complain about a game like that, but there were three trips inside the ten yard line where we came away with a total of 6 points. We have to finish those drives come playoff time. Defense looked goooood. NH scored one of their TDs in the closing minute against a prevent defense.

Every week the score seems to be Manual (something), the other team zero. That defense appears to be really stout. Curious to see how they do in the district.

Wow! Either DeSales' win against Fern Creek isn't as impressive as I thought, or we have a tougher game than I thought coming up against Southern. Probably both....

This is what DeSales does. As a 2-A school, they are always one or two injuries away from having a MUCH different team. They still focus on wrapping up and it is full speed. Everything but going to the ground.

Jason Frakes picked DeSales 27-20. We played in an absolute monsoon last year. It looks like it might rain again tomorrow, but at least it won't become a mud pit. I can't imagine how much work it took to put that field back together last year after that game.

I'm sure our attendance will be affected a little bit by some other game I keep hearing about over at Papa John's Stadium Friday. Nonetheless, it should be a great game. And you're right Neo, their starting QB did not play against South Warren.

I would still list Fern Creek among the honorable mention schools, but within the top 10 I think you nailed it!

Obviously they do. Admittedly, I haven't seen Allen Central play, but that's absurd.
