While we are thread jacking might as well throw Bracken Co in here somewhere. My guess is they will be the most overlooked team in the region this year. If I had to make a guess Mason Campbell Scott Bracken are the best teams in the region this yr and any of the four could win it. But I'm sure I will get some hate from the GRC faithful and the MoCo faithful. If I was to really want to "urinate" ppl off I'd suggest the 37th district not be apart of the 10 region but I don't want ppl to get out the torches and pitchforks and come hunt me down. That's a discussion for another thread anyway :thumb:

Are we really gonna do this my friend? You know as well as I do parents with money are going to send their kids to a private institution for a better education. Well money hangs with money so if little Johnny or Jane is a good ball player and their friends are good players and their parents can afford it they will go to the same school as Johnny or Jane. And so on and so forth. Tends to lean to the better talent going to private schools. So hence the private schools get an abundance of talent therefore make them front runners in athletics. So the public schools are behind. Now there are very talented kids playing in public schools. I'm not saying that. They are most likely in the situation as to their families can't afford the high cost to attend a private school. Not the kids or the family fault it's just life. It also may depend on your sport of choice. Beechwood highlands are football schools. If we are talking bball then what about their bball programs would be attractive to a stud baller? Campbell co is just a big 6a school that are in the hunt for a region championship but not really a contender for a state title. I could go on and on. Let's take the private school debate out of it for a minute give me a good reason why there shouldn't be classes? And the sweet 16 excuse ain't cutting it. Attendance was down this year so the revenue from attending isn't a factor. Now that there KHSAA TV and I know my school has a very slim chance of going I won't spend one penny on sweet 16 tickets. Now one could say that if we had classes that the private schools would dominate that. Because they would not be any competition for them. My response to that is they could file to move up in class. Like Mayfield moved to 2a. Or Highlands to 4a. The anti-classification people would say the little guys have the all a dal with it but that's just a cop out. 4 classes and play semifinals and finals of each class at Rupp and you still get that venue in March for high school hoops. Play your sectionals or districts like they do in football.

The purpose of the all a was to give opportunity for the small schools that can't compete with the larger schools. It's not that way anymore. It's more noticeable on the girls side but nonetheless. It's for the little guy enrollment wise by realistically it for the little private school that can gain players because they are private. And make the tournament one sided. And if you can't see that then I feel sorry for you.

Great post! And to answer your question no I'm not trying to get my school in. I would rather see 4-6 classes. It's the best system. Not saying my school would win even if it were classes but overall we would see more competitive games across the state. Small schools mid sized and big schools alike. From a competition standpoint. They way some of these districts are aligned it almost eliminates the small schools before the season starts. Take for example the 39th district one 3a school with 3 1a schools. Now ppl can say there's the all A for small schools. Well that's a sham too. That tournament is definitely watered down with small private schools. Not the way it was intended when it was created. So maybe I should have stated I'm in favor for classes and do away with the all a. Because that's the only way small schools get a chance EVERY yr and the all a can be done away with its become a joke anyway.

Only 3 that have won but my question to you is how mant region winners have been private schools in those 20 years? On average how many Private schools make it to state? This may be a better argument for girls bball or other sports in general, but my argument comes from being from a small rual school that hasnt been to a state tournament in 50+ years. We have had some good teams along the way but just cant compete with the bigger schools yr in and yr out. To the bolded: Its an awesome feat no doubt and a great accomplishment, but more times than not its won by bigger schools and those schools with more $$$ for whatever reason. Just one mans opnion on the subject. Private schools especially the high profile ones tend to have more revenue to put into their programs and that tends to put forth a better product. Not knocking them for $$$ or product im just saying group all those shools together and let them duke it out.

Stumbled across this thread and was very intriged. Has anyones views changed on the matter? I say the sooner we get to classes in basketball the better. Should private schools have their own class? Absolutely!!

I know this is mostly a northern Kentucky/Louisville are dominated sport but I will say from my area in the 10th Region Scott will be the favorite in the region with everyone else way behind. But a player to watch in the 39th district IMO is 6'3" Korbin Florer of Bracken Co. she is profecient in all aspects of the game and plays alot of club (AAU) ball with the northern KY girls. If you have not heard of her yet you will. Bracken will most likely be the favorites in the 39th and potentially top 5 team in the region. Will they be a threat to Scott? I dont think so this year, but who knows what can happen on any given night.... May be a slight favorite in the All A but i know nothing about Brossart.

Coach Kelsch will have his work cut out for him at Robertson next season. They lost their primary ball handler and one of their best scorers (Mitchell) to graduation and their 1a option Kaela Saner tranfered to Boone County. Not much left from last seasons production. Wish Patrick the best of luck, but he will a tall task in front of him. Thats not a knock of the kids it just comes with the territory of coaching in a small rual county school.

Did the Sainer girl from Robertson County transfer to Boone Co to play her senior season? I dont know why but I thought I had heard that somewhere.

Cant stop him from going to another school but could stop him playing ball. Birdbrain seems to know what he is talking about thats why I used many of his post. I myself know little about transferring (besides it happens way too often), thats why i asked on here so I could get an informative answer. Education wise he can go where ever but to play basketball is a whole other animal.

Sounds as if Pig Williams will be playing at Bethal-Tate in Ohio next season. Mason County won't release him to play in Kentucky. All speculation but that what I keep hearing. :idunno:

Looks as if Rowan County got a very nice transfer (Antrobus) from Pendleton Co. Should make the Vikings the favorite in the 16th if they werent already.

What's your problem? Are you one of those big school guys that gets their feathers ruffled when the smaller schools have an opportunity to be very successful for a couple years and knock the powerhouses off the pedestal for a yr or two. Why so much sarcasm and hate towards the Bracken Co Polar Bears? As far as being released if they don't live in that school system anymore I don't see where being released is relevant. As long as everything is done by the book I don't see an issue :idunno:

I never used any names. But yes he was one that was mentioned and he was the one I was saying would be highly doubtful. Don't know if I would say it was never a thought. They were seen looking at homes in the Brooksville area couple months ago. :idunno:

Simple. Legal change of address. Or please correct me if I'm wrong but Kids can move in with family members (or any one for that matter) as long as they have some sort of guardianship of the child in question. Probably more paperwork but where there is a will there is a way.
