I had not heard anything that extreme, just more of an uneasy feeling about thie hire, but with AAU getting into full swing transfer rumors shall begin i assume.

With Mason heading into a down yr as far as talent goes and Bracken hitting its stride with talent experience and coaching its kinda crazy to think Bracken wont beat Mason. Jason knows how to beat Mason when he has the right talent to do as such (see 12-13 and 13-14 district tournaments). Just ask Chris O'hearn about it. To think Mason will do more with less talent is far fetched. Augusta will be no slouch next season eithier. With August where they are and Bracken stock on the rise and Mason going to be down from where they have been used to being and who knows about St. Pat. All and all it be some good basketball to watch as a fan.

You may be correct on the Bracken at 5. But you are way off on Mason at 4. Mason returns one starter and very limited varsity experience. One thing about Bracken and Augusta they have gained valuable experience. Mason County will be lucky to be 3rd in their district. Right now it's augusta Bracken 1&2 in either one could be one or two and I wouldn't argue it. I heard one of Mason Co own Shawn Myrick say on live radio tonight that Mason won't make the region this year and I have to agree with him. And with the ppl in Maysville that are upset with the Biggs hire will any of those kids look else where for a place to play basketball this winter? The transfer season is coming up with AAU getting in full swing.

I was in Maysville today and I got the same feeling. Kinda divided on likes and dislikes. Only time will tell. I think Biggs will do great at Mason County, but some of the Royal faithful do not agree with my sentiments.

In the grand scheme of things if your #1 guys wants the job what's the point of the interview process? Just a waste of time for everyone involved. :idunno:

This pretty well sums it up. Schools usually know who they want before the ink has dried on the applications. The interview process is just a formality. They most likely approach their guy before even posting the job. Now if their guy turns it down or an agreement cannot be reached then hopefully they have a #2 option. If not then it could be a long drawn out process with it usually being not good for all involved. (example, Bracken County last year), now that was a mess.

Heres a fun question. When was the last time that the 39th district or any district for that matter had new coaches at 3 outta the 4 schools in their district in the same year? As will be the case in the 2015-2016 season in the 39th.

Congrats to the young man. Seen him play a few times. Pound for pound one of the better point guards Ive seen. Kid can really D it up.

I know we can't base a career outa of one game but the game you speak will stick out in my mind for years to come.

I am very aware of the rivalry. Have been to more that a few Augusta/Bracken games. To be honest I don't really think they pull for each other when not playing each other. At least not from what I can tell when at different tournaments throughout the years. Yeah both fan bases will be politically correct on here and in the public but really it's mostly all for show. If Hinson didn't have connection to Bracken that's one thing but being a grad from there it should not come to a surprise to anyone that he would leave A-town for Brooksville. That's all mute to the fact of taking shots at a great coach just because he left.

He is a nice player and should excel at the next level where ever he chooses to attend Congrats to him.

While I agree that they are 1-2 in the region, the gap isnt as wide as you suggest. George Rogers Clark will be in the mix as will Scott. Mason County is definitly the team to beat, but how will they respond to that target? I wouldnt be surprised if the get to state again next season, but there is alot of competition in their way. As they should not sleep on Bracken County eithier. That team has several key componets returning form last years squad. Could give the Lady Royals a run for the their district crown.

Have to be Kirk at the top of the list. Possibly Hinsons brother makes the jump to the boys side? I can't see Patrick applying but I've been wrong before. Could it have possibly been a Bracken assistant? Aaron Linville is an Augusta grad and an assistant for the Lady Bears.

What is Males potential next yr and down the road? Seems like not a lot of interest.

First off I want to say I absolutely love this site. It's a great place to discuss high school sports for the great state of Kentucky! With that said I followed the site for many years without creating an account for a few reasons. 1. I mainly just want to see scores and discussion about the games. 2. Some of the threads have a great comic relief to them 3. I was afraid I could not filter my post to keep from getting kicked off the site with some of the frustrating things I read. :lol: The reason I pick this time and this thread to post is because I follow the 10th region very closely. This thread has a lot of great post but also has a lot of hypocrisy as well. Not to mention that this thread has brought several new people to the site. First off I want to congratulate Coach Hanson on his new endeavor and help he has many great things ahead of him. By reading some of these post it does not look like he had the support I thought he had at Augusta. I guess while he was winning it was all good but now the seasons over and he decided to take his coaching talents elsewhere he is not Such a good coach. At least that's the feeling I get from the Augusta faithful. I can tell you I have followed Jason Hinson since he was at Saint Pat and there isn't a better guy or coach around. Let's go back in a minute when Hinson was at Saint Pat if memory serves either two thirds or all three of those seniors to be were at Saint Pat as well. What if Hinson never had went to be the coach at Augusta? Would those three boys made their way to the panthers either? Maybe or maybe not. Not to mention Mr. Brent Bach was a freshman when Jason took the reigns at A-town. Now Bach was the best high school player I have seen in the 10th region since Chris Lofton and I'm not for one second taking anything away from his accomplishments, but without that trio of boys would Bach's legacy at Augusta be as great as it is now? We will never know. Truth of the matter is this. Jason Hinson had St. Pat playing at a high level but with budget cuts they no longer had a place for them. If that had not occurred who know where we would be today. Those three boys with Sticklin. Wow maybe they would have been the powerhouse small school that Augusta has been these last 4-5 yrs. Jason is a proven winner and it is my hope for him to carry on his winning ways at Bracken County. For anyone to get on here and say he is an overrated as a coach after the fact he has took another position is just absurd. After everyone in the fine town of Augusta has followed him and made him a icon in that town (could have ran for mayor and won in a landslide:lol2:) to turn your back on him and discredit him is just sour grapes. How a man can go from Coach Hinson loved and adored to Mr. Hinson ex coach in just a few days is just downright disrespectful to a man that put his heart and soul in your schools program. And to make derogatory or negative comments about a player or players is ludicrous after all they have accomplished. Jason seen the writing on the wall and knew the talent pool after next season will be more like a puddle so he went somewhere where he can be successful and and to the nice career he is building for himself. And a raise to provide for his family. Who can blame him for that? Before posting I went back and read some of the old threads to read the Augusta fans post how much they were behind Jason saying he's a great coach and will have these kids playing at a high-level boasting they had the 10th region coach of the year to he's just an okay Coach an overrated coach just baffles me Why don't we as a group just uses thread as it was intended on giving our congrats to Jason and hopes he can be as successful as he's been over his coaching career, instead of trying to tear him down. What people don't understand is how hard of a decision this had to be for him.
