What to expect from Mason County next year?

Featured Replies

With this group of girls having no one older than a sophomore, and being state semifinalists, what do you guys expect this upcoming season?

I'd say anything short of a trip back to the Sweet 16 would be a disappointment. The draw would determine how far they'd go.

Campbell County might have something to say about this. They are only losing 1 senior.

Will all the current roster be returning?

Like to think the my Lady Bears will have some say in this as well. lose three seniors but have alot returning. Cummins Ruf Carl Florer Kalb to name a few. will have some good size down low and some very skilled scorers. :thumb:

I would think Mason, Campbell and Scott will all be in the running. All young and don't lose much. I think Mason over achieved this year and will be the target next year. That is a different feeling. Don't get me wrong, I have expressed my admiration for how they play. But the underdog roll is much different than being the target. And they did have a very favorable draw in the state tournament. But hey, they beat the teams they should have and did their job. Should be a very exciting season for them next year!

I didn't say there wouldn't be others that contend...just that winning the region with a group of sophomores, returning everyone, yet not going back would be disappointing.

Campbell would definitely be a contender next year.

I agree anything less than returning to the state would be disappointing. Also agree that there are other teams that will challenge them and could win the region too. I have stated in the boys forum, that having the target on your back is not easy, just look at GRC girls team and Mason Boys teams this year. Both with the target on their back and neither won the region.

IMO I think the trip to the Sweet 16 will give the Mason girls a lot of confidence that they haven't had in prior years, especially being so young. The 10th looks great for the next years though with all the young talented teams. Sure to make for some exciting games come tournament time!

Mason and Campbell County are 1 and 2. These are the top 2. Everyone else is way back.

Looks like Coach Lindsey will be the coach with the most seniority of the three major sports at Mason County next year!!

Would have never thought that just a year ago, glad the parents, administration, etc. hung with her

A lot of young talent to watch in the 39th. Very excited to see future freshmen Kennedy Carl (bracken) and Nicole Arthur (Augusta) .. Two young ladies with very bright futures.

While I agree that they are 1-2 in the region, the gap isnt as wide as you suggest. George Rogers Clark will be in the mix as will Scott. Mason County is definitly the team to beat, but how will they respond to that target? I wouldnt be surprised if the get to state again next season, but there is alot of competition in their way. As they should not sleep on Bracken County eithier. That team has several key componets returning form last years squad. Could give the Lady Royals a run for the their district crown.

Wrong, Mason will be looking for a new Coach next year!
