Jason Hinson takes over to coach his alma mater. The addition of Hinson, plus the return of arguably the 10th Region's top guard, Austin Crawford, explains why there is a lot of optimism from the folks in Brooksville. Crawford led Bracken County in the vast majority of statistical categories last year, and I rank him as the #2 player in the 10th Region.

Crawford isn't alone however. Fellow junior Jacob Hamilton was the team's #2 scorer last year. I'd like to see Jacob be a little more selfish on the offensive end, because Bracken was better last season when there were scoring options other than Crawford. Jacob gets to the free throw line a lot & converts when he's there, which I believe is the mark of an effective scorer.

The rest of the team will fill in the blanks for those two standouts IMO. If Hinson can develop some of the other kids, it can be a really exciting season for the Polar Bears. I'm looking forward to seeing how it plays out.

I look for Bracken, along with Augusta, Brossart, & Paris, to be the top 4 contenders for the Class A championship--and remember, the Polar Bears host the Class A this year.

In terms of the 39th District, it seems there is more balance than we've seen in quite some time. Mason County lost a ton, but they have a lot of young talent that will have opportunities to shine. Augusta loses its head coach, but returns the senior trio of Snapp, Maddox, & Crawford. Bracken County also hosts the 39th District Tournament in 2016.

Whats the odds of a transfer coming to Bracken? Twitter was a buzz with those rumors last night. If it happens Bracken Moves up to the #1 spot in the 39th and top 4-5 in the region. And Crawford wont have to play the point. Possibily be at the three. :idunno:

Lots of talk about this but think it is just talk for talk sake....reported some of the Mason players hanging with the Augusta players this week...hmmm

I watch my Polar Bears in Nicholas County last week and they looked real good. Had alot of chemistry and played good defense. Something they didn't have last season. Once Hinson gets his system in place I can see Bracken contending for the All A and 39th. Which are both in Brooksville this year. I saw the transfer rumors too but until any of them are roaming the halls of BCHS you can't worry about rumors. Although what I saw on Twitter was very interesting as Rick said it would definitely take the ball handling load off of Austin and he can be more of a shooting guard or small forward.

image.jpg The Polar Bears are definely close contenders for the district like Mason and Augusta. One big thing is that the All A and district will be at the Igloo this year. Possibly playing Augusta at home in All A and District at the peak of the rivalry will be great. Standing room only. Could win their first District since 1999 and first All A region since 1998!

Why does the All "A" bracket ALWAYS favor Brossart?

There was an earlier thread about Crawford going to Pendleton Co. Rumors are just rumors.

And why is it that all the 39th district teams always in the same bracket? Seems like a preview for March.

Why would they be coming to Bracken?

Why would they be coming to Bracken?

Ohhh I don't know maybe to play for a two time COY in Hinson. Or like I've said time and time again to play with their AAU teammates this winter. Grass is greener kinda thing. Maybe just don't like their current situation. Many reasons to be honest. I don't know which one fits in this case but I would say that Hinson was not the coach this wouldn't even be a topic. Just a guess though. :thumb:

Paris - Bracken (almost) right off the bat.

I may have to make the trip.
