Bracken County 2015/2016

Featured Replies

As Rick said above 60+ years. You cannot compare Mason County and Bracken County. You walk in the Fieldhouse and see the banners and trophy cases you know it's something special. You can't walk into the Igloo and get the same feeling. 60+ years ago there's history and tradition but very little since then. If you based it all off of that then Robertson County(Deming) has more to offer than Bracken County does.

Also this year is the Royals 1st year in 4A, which still has nothing to do with it because Brossart is also an All A school and so is Newport Central Cathloic. No matter how hard you try or what you say Bracken County will never be Mason County.

"Bracken County will never be Mason County"-

I realize or at least I'm assuming you're meaning Bracken County High School and not Bracken as a county, which would obviously include Augusta.

But you are absolutely correct Bracken and/or Augusta will never be Mason County. Which makes it an astounding fact that over the last 5 years,2 and almost 3 of the boys district championship trophies and 3 of the girls district championship trophies have resided in the county of Bracken. 2 schools you have to double their combined enrollment to have the enrollment of Mason County.

Now I also realize that the tide may have/is changing somewhat, but since "Bracken County will never be Mason County"- makes it remarkable that the above could be possible.

I enjoy seeing the old Maysville trophies at the Fieldhouse. Those were some awesome teams.

See what you did there....well played

]It all goes back to that sense of entitlement if your are Mason Co. All the smaller schools are supposed to bow down.[/b] We all know Mason will be the front runner year in and year out' date=' but for the past 3 years and probablly the next 2 they arent so clear cut favorites and weather they admit it or not it is frustrating for them to be in this situation. As 8th region warrior said in a couple more years they will be back on top. But with Hinson in control of things at Bracken the gap me be narrowed quite considerably for many years to come. IMHO[/quote']

Unfortunate that so many of my friends to the immediate west think this of so many of us to the immediate east.

Don't count me in the group. I have a great affinity for Mason County.

I'm guessing you were too young to walk in the ORIGINAL igloo. And if you walk into Augusta's gym and can't feel the history you're crazy.

Are we talking the barn? Or the one the first brick gym? Or the one built in 1955?

For Augusta are we talking Russell Hall or the Den?

For Bracken the one built in 1957, not the old tobacco barn we used in 1925 that gave us our mascot. For Augusta the one built in 1926. Awesome places to watch basketball.

Andrew King will be an assistant and I believe former varsity coach Daniel Fisher will coach JV. Fisher was Varsity coach in the late 90s early 2000s

Fun fact. Daniel Fisher was the coach the last time the Polar Bears won the district and the 10th region All A

Extra Fun Fact: Daniel Fisher coached 4 years from 1997-2000 with a record of 54-58. He coached the last Polar Bear All A AND District Champions. Will Definitely great to see him back with Polar Bear, great coach. Also doing a great job as AD.

Yes. The Ice Palace was special. Love it much more than the current gym at BC.

As for A-Town...I put it right there with the Fieldhouse.

It's nice Coach Fischer, as a former successful Head Coach, put ego aside to take a supporting role to Coach Hinson......very altruistic.

You are indeed a master of your craft sir. Sarcasm is definitly an area you excell in. I can appreciate that for I also love to use sarcasm.

I think these two will work well together. Once again Hinson has some good assistants around him to give his players the best chance to win. There will not be any ego issues here.
