Bracken County 2015/2016

Featured Replies

I DEFINITELY need to make it to the Igloo on 12/8, to A-town on 1/13, or both.

The burning question - will someone from Mason County be welcome? Will I have to go undercover?

Always welcome my friend. I'll save ya a seat next to our makeshift booth. :lol2:

Disguise yourself as All In- secondary benefit- they might let you in free to avoid the hassle over price of admission.

I'll have to slouch.

I have a couple of extra All A championship t-shirts you can borrow. Maybe even get you a front row seat. I've been in them for a big game, very nice.

I picked them to win the Region as soon as Coach Hinson arrived. Anything less would be unacceptable.

I think you're exactly right. Winning the district shouldn't be the goal every year. Most teams at Bracken seem to be happy with that. We need to raise the standards, let's make a run in region, and win it. Why not us? Stop settling for district.

Rome wasn't built in a day, it's gonna take time. Go for districts 1st, it's been quite sometime since the Polar Bears have been districts champs. It's okay to have high goals, but make them reasonable that way the players and BCHS supporters don't get disappointed if the goals aren't met. Just because you get a HOF coach doesn't automatically make you 10th Region Contenders.

I think we would be happy with winning district, what I'm saying is let's not just win district and quit. Let's go and compete with some of the 10th region powerhouses. Our fans aren't like Mason and say state or bust. It's been 16 years.

More like 60+ years since they have been to a state tournament.

Here's the thing though, they're Mason County. Historically one of the best programs in the state of Kentucky. They have the tradition and history to have high standards as to where Bracken County doesn't. Comparing Mason and Bracken is like comparing apples to oranges. Even in the down years you cannot compare the two schools. End of discussion.

HOF fame coach? Really? Come on guys, he is a good coach no doubt, did they ever beat Brossart at Augusta? HOF coaches win regions not just districts, in my opinion, and have proven to be great not good for at least 8-10 years not (3)

Bracken County definitely has the tradition and history just on a smaller scale. Us Bracken Countians can't get enough of basketball, Augusta included. Just because we aren't a 4A school that wins a lot doesn't mean we can't have history and tradition.

Bracken made a great hire, BUT Mason will soon be back, we all know that and so will Clark County its just a matter of time, when that happens the 10th will be back to those 2

Yes. Last season for the 10th region All A championship

As Rick said above 60+ years. You cannot compare Mason County and Bracken County. You walk in the Fieldhouse and see the banners and trophy cases you know it's something special. You can't walk into the Igloo and get the same feeling. 60+ years ago there's history and tradition but very little since then. If you based it all off of that then Robertson County(Deming) has more to offer than Bracken County does.

Also this year is the Royals 1st year in 4A, which still has nothing to do with it because Brossart is also an All A school and so is Newport Central Cathloic. No matter how hard you try or what you say Bracken County will never be Mason County.

It all goes back to that sense of entitlement if your are Mason Co. All the smaller schools are supposed to bow down. We all know Mason will be the front runner year in and year out, but for the past 3 years and probablly the next 2 they arent so clear cut favorites and weather they admit it or not it is frustrating for them to be in this situation. As 8th region warrior said in a couple more years they will be back on top. But with Hinson in control of things at Bracken the gap me be narrowed quite considerably for many years to come. IMHO

In answer to "Did Augusta ever beat Brossart at Augusta."

Last year's win ove Brossart was at Robertson County.

The last time Augusta beat Brossart at Augusta was February 10, 2009, HOWEVER, Robin Kelsch was the coach.
