  1. I saw just enough "grit" out of the Tigers last week to pick them over Manual. Offense seems to be a work in progress but no shortage of talent. Think the QB just needs a little touch on the ball. Hate to say it but kind of reminds me of Reggie playing QB for the Rocks. Again, plenty of talent. Just happy to see the kids fight last week against the Rocks. I think it will carry over this week. X - 17 M - 13
  2. I do believe Trinity has the "Senior Night" festivities scheduled for the Seneca varsity game...recognizing the Seniors and Senior Parents. Hope they at least get that opportunity for the experience. No telling what will happen.
  3. Way to go Shamrocks! Another big win for the JV guys. Starting to look and sound like the undefeated JV team from 2 years ago with Ryan Young at the QB position. Bunch of guys ready for Friday nights and people around the city will soon learn all the names. Like what I'm seeing. Can't wait to see Cardosi in live varsity action next year. Would have made varsity contributions this year - wishing him a speedy/healthy recovery.
  4. Tharp RB DeSales Lewellyn WR CAL
  5. Way to go! Great kid. He will do good things for the Cards
  6. Nero = Southern Illinois Haven't checked to see if he has any stats.
  7. All jokes aside, been watching the kid play for a long time - glad to see him have a monster game.
  8. Who was that Foos kid? Dude was a freak!
  9. Can't even worry about it right now ATLCat. Pick 2 for me this week please so I can keep up with overall points standings. Heading to Papa Johns to watch my boy play X. Could be his last time (Senior) unless we are fortunate enough to see each other in the playoffs. Emotional times for the senior parents and players on both sides. Enjoying every moment of a great week!
  10. On the fence right now, P88. Will see X tonight in the Rivalry game and I can only tell you that Manual was the best defense the Rocks faced last year. Many of the same names and faces for the Crimsons. Seems like a lot of the X folks talk about some of the deficiencies up front for the Tigers. Manual will be as big and physical up front as anyone in the state. Very serviceable guys all the way around at the skill spots. We all know X is full of athletes and hogs on both sides as well. Did BG scrimmage Manual this year? You might have the best pre game assessment for the BG Preps audience. I would say the game is a pick em right now. How about you?
  11. Robert Dalton Jones also played offensive line with Lococo and Reynolds on a few of the Toy Bowl Teams because he was over the weight limit. Big WR for Edward back then was Woosley - he spent nearly all of his time at WR and RB because of his speed. QB was Connor Tessier who went to Eastern for basketball. Franconia was another big player for that group on the way to 4 Toy Bowl trips. Key reserve for the Rocks at DE and playing on special teams.
  12. Game of the year in 6A as much as many other games we talk about. So many playoff implications riding on this game. Going to be a good one.
  13. Amen...Compliments to Male defense. All the earth shattering offensive statistics and college players - the Dogs play great defense. Same group of guys that gave up 1 first down and 35 total yards to Trinity in the 2nd half. You can try to prep for all of the offensive weapons but my advice is you better be watching a lot of defensive film on Male. They very simply aren't giving up many points...hardly any at all!!
  14. The biggest impact on the bracket will be the Manual vs X game. Sure, X can beat Male or any other team in the state on any night of the week but don't rule out a big win for Manual over X. The winner of that game will most likely get the Rocks in the 2nd round (at T) and the team that doesn't win will get Male in 2nd round (at Male). But, it might not even be worth a discussion. X has a 700 game win streak against Manual...right? Lot of good football to play. Will be fun to see how things unfold.
  15. Jason Frakes, great article on Logan Butler - thank you for taking the time to work on this one. Also, big thanks to the family for sharing the story. Outside of the game and other rivalry talk, we all know a bunch of the guys go back to little league and grade school football. Tomorrow night is about the guys putting on the pads. Logan's story is one to remind all of us that many of the kids come from different backgrounds, circumstances and situations. Every player on both sides will create some sort of memory they will talk about for 50 + years. Best of luck to all the guys playing in the big Rivalry. Now somebody do some sort of reverse rain dance...keep that stuff out of here!!!
  16. Congratulations Bulldogs! Keep moving up that poll. Hope the Rocks can make it far enough for a rematch in the post season and give you guys a better game. You deserve the National recognition...enjoy!
  17. If you watch or follow CSAA sports, you have to recognize many of the names. Plenty of Toy Bowls in our starting line up. But I'll name a few for you and the schools. I do appreciate the follow up but in all honesty, if you follow the CSAA, you know most of these kids. Passing: Woosley (Edward) Rushing: Reed (Crosby) and Smith (Farnsley) Receiving: DJones(Edward), Carrico (Martha) and Burns (Johnson Middle) Interceptions: Reynolds(Edward) Burns, Sydnor (Newburg), Bethel (Scribner) Tackles: Lowe (Kammerer), Lococo (Edward), CSpencer (Albert)....and we all know everyone is aware of Foos (Holy Spirit). Hard to lead the team in tackles when you are double teamed ALL THE TIME. Just giving you 1 and 1a leaders. Burns has 2 interceptions and the others have 1 interception. Jones leading in nearly all receiving catagories but Carrico and Burns right behind. Same thing on defense. Our whole starting line is Lourdes, Albert, Mary, Stephen and Highland middle.
  18. Remind me please. What was the excuse for Male last year. Seriously, I don't remember. Appreciate it.
  19. This is the reason my son picked Trinity over St X...and thank the good lord he did. He is well rounded in so many ways. If I were a St X fan or alum, I would be embarrassed by comments of this nature. Oh, and by the way - our kids are TESTED now. ANOTHER fantastic way to get involved in the lives of young people and compliments to our Administrators, Teachers and Coaches. Talk like this is the reason so many kids are moving on down the road to the South End school as well. Good, hard working, Blue Collar catholic folks picking DeSales over X...by they way, they are also winning state championships. Bottom line, bad apples go to all schools and one isn't any better than the other - you just choose to believe and say things like that. You take your philosophy and we will take ours. I know I'm proud of the way we reach kids from different walks of life, have some of the best special education teachers in the country, housing system + block schedules - not to mention the best damn high school football coach in the country. Wish I had one game of eligibility left!
  20. I'm counting 14 additional players that start or contribute in the rotation from 12 different public grade schools. I've said this before in older post since we are going down this path again - although some of them come from a public grade school, many are still "Catholic". It is a greaT mixture and balance of ethnic, social and economic backgrounds. Catholic education and ideas working to provide outstanding opportunities academically, socially and athletically for different kids from all over our city. With that, 14 kids may contribute from outside of the CSAA but we dress around 120 total players. I count an additional 17 players from Public schools on the roster that won't see the field - not sure how many of them will ever see the field. Top notch guys that attend Trinity for reasons other than football but still make huge continuations on the scout team (again, Coach Beatty has said it over and over again - the scout guys at T are the true MVP's). Hopefully the info is useful.
  21. Just for the record, Trinity starting players or in the rotation on both sides of the ball represent the following churches/schools... OLOL x 3 Albert x 2 Edward x 5 Holy Spirit x 2 Martha x 2 Mary x 2 Aloysius Stephen At least 18 players from the CSAA will be in the starting line up or in the rotation on one side of the ball or the other.
  22. Thank you for the breakdown thsrocks! Blackburn and Thomas getting needed reps in competitive games and I like it a lot. Also have a bunch of talented guys on the defensive side playing in the JV games. The JV Rocks are undefeated including big wins over Elder on the road. Love what the coaches are doing to make sure we have "depth" on Friday nights. Strong coaching with the emphasis on developing players. Wish I could have joined you in the stands behind Coach Nash. My Dad was a member of that team and anytime you have the opportunity to be around the old Flaget guys is a GREAT DAY! Wish more current Rocks, Tigers, Colts and Cougars had the opportunity to spend time with this special group of men from the 1950's. Flaget and the West End hold a special place in my heart and I've passed all the stories on to my son and the time he spent with his Grandfather will be cherished forever.
  23. Way to get the ball rolling JV Rocks! Soccer Rocks up next on Wed evening at home then back over to Popular Level for the Frosh football game on Thursday. Definitely like the way things have started on Monday!!!
  24. As much of a dual threat as Male's QB might be, he actually had a great night picking us apart from the pocket and handing off to Gentry/RB. He only took off a few times and it wasn't too harmful. On the other hand, Wood from Lafayette ran around all night outside of the pocket and from one sideline to the other. It didn't work out too well. If you want to compare, Male played a much more traditional pocket passing game and didnt have the need to showcase QB scrambling abilities. Although the QB can move, they were perfectly comfortable in the pocket. I think the Rocks look forward to the potential of a running QB. In a game like this, especially from the Trinity perspective, I assure you the guys want the QB to run!!
