Ashland 32 Greenup County 6
I will say this, out run defense was terrific. On the raido, they said Greenup had 7 yards rushing. Granted, that's not official, but still, great job. Still need to work on the pass defense. Over 100 yards allowed.

I'm glad we won and all, but what I'm really curious about is our last offensive play. With 30 some seconds left, we line up in shotgun formation and Ratliff throws, not the best pass in the world, down field and it gets picked off. Why in the world did we not take a knee. Is there something I missed?

I don't want to take LRCW's thunder, but that helps!

Just like last year, they HAVE done a great job not letting Baker get his yards.

We might have negative rushing yards. I'd like to know what it is.

Freshman vs JV
I think this is getting a little out of hand. Fresh/JV games are to prepare the kid for varsity time later on. They are games, which mean they keep score, and they matter, if not to the coaches, they matter to the kids. No matter what tam they are on, it matters to them. If they do bad, they get frustrated, if they do well, they are excited... They are kids. Now, for the coaches, it may not mean anything to some, it may mean more to others. I'm sure it depends on the program. I, along with others get aggravated when "they" cancel the game and instead, have a scrimmage. This has happened to us a couple of times this year. However, I understand that things change and some teams may not have enough players to compete, it's still frustrating not to count a game. All these kids work hard throughout the week to play these games. Let them have fun and learn their school's system to help the team out in a year or two. JMO

4A #3 Ashland vs. Greenup County
I don't think it will happen, but I hope we don't overlook this Greenup team. If we take them lightly and come out the way we did against EC, it could be bad for the boys in maroon. Again, I don't think it will happen; just a concern.

Greenup Kid Commits
Congrats to the young man. I've seen him play, impressive. Wish him the best, except a couple games a year...

Tates Creek vs George Rogers Clark predictions
I know it's in a few weeks, but will the Tates Creek/Ashland game be a good one to attend? I was planning on it. Or should I just stay at the house?

Game day, bundle up tonight. JFL night at the stadium, a lot of little ones will be running around. Will be a good night for football.

Russell 18 Raceland 12 (Frosh) (OT)
I've seen them play a couple of times. They looked good when I saw them. However, I think that there were some sophomores and juniors playing with them. I know that they didn't have many kids out this year, maybe thats why the older kids were playing. They do have a big qb and a good tail back. I don't know how the line would look with just freshman, that's where some of the older kids play. I will be in attendance that night. I wish both teams good luck, but a little more luck to the young Cats.

Play clocks
I would love for every school to have them. Putnam Stadium in Ashland has them. For a couple of years, I don't know if no one knew how to use it or not, but it wasn't used. Now, however, it's used every varsity home game. I think it just add to the over all look of any stadium.

Freshman vs JV
Reps, Reps, and more Reps. That is the benefit of playing JV/Frosh. The more reps you have, the more comfortable you are on the field at that position. JMO As well, our JV/Frosh game are filmed and given to the coach the next day. While the players are in their advanced conditioning class, on game days, the coach breaks down film with most of the players. I think that is a great idea. I've always said, "Film never lies". I believe it also breeds a team concept, the varsity players come to the jv games and both come to the freshman games and the freshman go to the jv games that they don't dress for.

Ashland 46 East Carter 15
He's more along the lines of 6'4-5 225. He does have speed, not blazing by any means, but he can run. I would still take my chances with him out there on a 5'10, 6'0 corner any day. Every time we are on offense, I just shake my head to see him standing on the sidelines. Again, hopefully there are plans in the works.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. A quick slant to a jump ball. It would be there. I hate the fact that they don't exploit our strengths, use every one you can. Hopefully coaches will read this and have this ready for JC in a couple of weeks. We will need every advantage we can get.

I've heard that he and o'brian are doubeling up on their classes so they can start at their respective schools by the spring. Great athletes, I still want to see drew on offense more. I know he needs a break every now and then, but he should never come off the field. I want to see him more in the passing game. JMO.

PA Announcer Ejected from the Stadium
I guess I'm of the old school too. In my opinion, if you want all the hoopla, listen to your team's radio broadcasters. I think that it is a professionalism to announce a game as bias as possible. I know when you get to the NBA and major college basketball, they do all the hype stuff. I just don't think it's necessary for high school football. JMO I was at a game a few weeks ago, videoing in the booth, and the announcer was so obnoxious, I almost left and taped the game somewhere else, the only catch was, I would still have to hear him over the loud speaker.

Monday Morning Quarterback: Central Among Leaders of "Pack"
Holy CRAP!!! I don't care if it did bounce. That was a monstrous kick. I was watching a WVU game a few years ago (why, I don't know. I despise the ones from Morgan Hole) when their punter had like a 90 yard punt.

That's a ridiculous kick… :woot:

Ashland 46 East Carter 15
It might have been mentioned, and if it has, forgive me. But who was ejected from the game? At first I thought it was #44 after interacting with the kicker, but then he remained in the game at linebacker. Just curious.

89 yards is impressive. I'm just curious how many yards in the air did it fly? What kind of bounce did it get? I'm not taking away anything from the young man at all. It was just a conversation I was having at the job site. Just curious.

He's at all the games, on the sidelines, one of the head trainers. He seems like a very passionate man. I think he was just a little too passionate on that play. I will say, the entire stands stood up on that play, including the East Carter fans. It looked really impressive from where I was sitting…

Ashland 46 East Carter 15
It's a win, but an ugly one. I really can't say ugly, I guess I'll go with a lethargic win. Ashland ran like only 6-7 plays in the first half it seemed. East was just shoving the ball right down our throats. Their first drive went for 18 plays, yes, 18 plays. As well, they kicked a field goal with 1:something left on the clock. When we got the ball, we ran two plays and scored. There was 50 sec left on the clock. East got the ball again, ran two plays and the qtr was over. They were just killing us. Love said at halftime, there was a stern talking to. It did pay off, we looked much better in the second half. Even though Drew had a pick, our secondary was a little weak this game. I'll take it; back to the familiar confines of Putnam stadium for the next two games.
