I'm glad we won and all, but what I'm really curious about is our last offensive play. With 30 some seconds left, we line up in shotgun formation and Ratliff throws, not the best pass in the world, down field and it gets picked off. Why in the world did we not take a knee. Is there something I missed?

I will say this, out run defense was terrific. On the raido, they said Greenup had 7 yards rushing. Granted, that's not official, but still, great job. Still need to work on the pass defense. Over 100 yards allowed.

I heard there was a little altercation before the game between the two teams. Something about Greenup players spitting on the A at midfield. I don't know if that had anything to do with that play call or not, but yes that was a very odd play call.

Baker rushed 16 times for 158 yards and and two TD after being held to only 16 yards on 9 carries in the 1st half. He also had two interceptions, including the pick 6 at the end of the 1st half.

Both teams lined up pre-game for warm-ups GCs front line on the 50. Ashland's front line on our 45. Something happened not sure what because Ashland coaches moved all lines forward 5 yards which put ours and GCs at the 50. After warmups all the Ashland players run together at the A engulfing 2 Greenup players and it was on. GCs team came to their players aid and shoving pushing trash talking coaches etc. It was pretty wild pre-game

Coach Love did say that, and I mentioned that I had heard that in my post above. I didn't get there until about 15 minutes before kickoff.

D'oh. Missed that somehow!

Greenup's defense is legit. I came away from the game impressed with their effort, there was no quit in that group. As for Ashlands play, I don't think they were looking ahead to next week, they just had a hard time getting things going against that Greenup defense. But in the end Baker is still Baker and Ashlands overall team speed was just to much for Greenup. All in all, the game went about as I expected it would.

 

Hats off to the players and students wearing orange in support for the young girl that's battling lung cancer.
