  1. Ryle's Offense outplayed Cooper's on Friday. Cooper did a great job and a the best impression of the West Coast Offense that I have ever seen. Quick passes for 5-8 yards, then set up the longer pass, which was usually on TD's. The few big running plays were well blocked up front. Mostly killed Ryle through the air on the short passes. Ryle adjusted, but adjusted late. Clearly evident on the film. Conner has a lot of weapons on Offense, but Ryle has proven to have a bunch too. I think it will be close, but not as close as Cooper. Go Raiders : )
  2. I know you can throw out the stats in a crosstown game like this but I found the scoring avgs interesting. Ryle 38.8 on offense 12.5 on Defense. Cooper 38.4 on Offense and 26.7 on Defense. Cooper played SK Ryle hasn't. Otherwise than that schedules are very similar. What take from the Averages is this years Ryle team is a lot like last years Cooper team. This years Cooper team is a lot like last years Ryle team in regards to scoring averages.
  3. Couldn't agree with you more my friend. Cooper Coaches made solid adjustments last year. That along with Byron Browns kick return in the 2nd half and two very timely Ryle fumbles were the difference in that game. Defensive adjustments in the 2nd half by Cooper were outstanding. This year might be different. Hard to replace a Marcus Watson an absolute stud on both sides of the line. But Cooper still has some bigs that are impressive.
  4. The Hendrix (WR) / Scheer (DB) match up is gonna be a great one. It was great last year untill Scheer went out with an injury. Two of the top athletes in NKY.
  5. The Ryle / Highlands Game thread wasn't long enough apparently. It was like a gazillion pages long, but not long enough. Had to start it up again on the Ryle / GRC prediction thread.
  6. You are correct. Running Clock in the 2nd Quarter. The 1's came out in the 2nd half.
  7. Not on Fridays under the lights against Varsity competition. It would be invaluable IMO
  8. I think this schedule was set a few years ago when Ryle had a few or 3 tough seasons. They picked up LaSalle next year and the year following.
  9. I hate the running clock rule. Valuable time wasted for player development. These kids bust their humps all year and if some 3 stringers or JV players get an opportunity to play in a not so close scoreboard situation. It's a win win. Even if you are on the back end of a not close scoreboard. Put your JV'rs in. Teaches sportsmanship, professionalism besides the player development upside
  10. Which running back got hurt for CC??
  11. So Wh do you think it will be next year? I know it's premature, but just curious as to your opinion. I'll bet it's Schlarman. He'll be like Kash Daniels, A LB playing QB.
  12. 100 percent accurate. Ryle put a running clock on Highlands in the 2nd quarter last week. Scored 43 points in the first half. Finished the game with 50 points. Morgan had 250 yds on 16 of 18 passing, 2 TDs. If Ryle would have kept passing the stats would have been much different. What I like about Cooper is that they never know who will run at QB until that year. Nathan Brown last year lit it up. Lonaker seems to be following in his footsteps. I'm a Ryle guy, but one with much respect for the other team in Union. Much Respect.
  13. I know it's a cliche, but Ryle is only worried about their next game. I honestly believe that.
  14. I think they are playing Andre Riddick as much as they can on both JV and V because they want to see development out of him. He is right there, very close to being a good player. He is a very inexperienced football player, this is his only 2nd season playing. He shows signs of good things to come, but he needs as many snaps as he can get. I was wondering about a Highlands JV Olineman. I think he was #74, pretty big kid. Good Looking frame. I don't recall seeing him play on Friday night.
  15. Sorry for the back to back posts. I can tell you that the players don't care if they lose by 14 or 48. They're mad either way. Players only get butt hurt from losing period. It seems that parents are the ones getting butt hurt. They should learn from their kids as crazy as it sounds. If their kid isn't butt hurt, then you shouldn't be. On the other hand, If a coach is butt hurt, he isn't a good coach. Good coaches don't care about the final score. They only care about having the larger number when the clock ends in the 4th quarter.
  16. Maybe it's the Jake Long depression. I had a pit in my stomach for 2 days. Can't replace that kid, but there are kids they are deep at receiver and even some DB's that can move and platoon at that postion as well. It'll be interesting. My heart breaks for him and his Grandmother. He went to the Highland / Scott Co game and told the rest of the boys that he plans on playing next year at the college level. I hope those boys continue to have his determination rub off on them.
  17. must have gotten that score from twitter. It was an error, I believe the correct score was 41-28 Ryle
  18. Completely agree, an additional year in the system. Most players only get better with experience.
  19. I'm a Ryle fan and I agree that SK needs to be knocked off as apposed to being replaced. So, IMO #1 and #2 should be replaced. I also agree and don't agree with Footballforever74. I don't think Ryle is better or worse than last year. Two very similar teams. For Example, you have Jake Chisholm and Cole Burch taking over for Bateman and England. You have Jeremy Pendleton and Josh Sandman taking over for Jarvis and Rabe. Chase Ross, Parker Bisek and Ryan Princepata are getting a handful Defensive series to keep the D Line Fresh, but not enough to wear them down for Offensive Line duties. Zach Cusick taking over for Eric Wright, almost the same player as far as speed is concerned. Then you have Ross, Bisek and Princepata taking over for Otis, Weber and Yowan. So very similar teams as compared to last year vs this year. They just have to take their best shot at SK playing king of the hill. Start climbing Raiders : )
  20. He should be one of the top backs in NKY this year and next. He see's cut backs and holes better than his coaches (that was a statement from one of his coaches). His off season work ethic is very strong. Always in the weight room. Top student at Ryle as well. A great kid, but you will hate him with his shirt off. His 6 pack has a 6 pack.
  21. I agree with you both. I really think Cov Cath, Highlands and Cooper are all being underrated so far this pre-season. I look at the senior leadership of last year's Ryle team and the leadership of this year's Ryle team. Very similar. Good kids with good heads and great heart. I don't see them sleeping on anyone and taking any team for granted.
  22. Ryle travels to Lexington to take on Bryan Station for their Scrimmage tomorrow night. Some players might try things out on both Offense and Defense. I haven't heard of any new injuries. Collin Demetrakus (sp?) should be healing up and hopefully returning soon from an off season injury. He's a stud LB that goes sideline to sideline ball hawking.
  23. I really think that is Cooper's mantra. Scrimmage well below their ability. Don't show anybody anything. Everybody knows that Hendrix and Schlarrman are special players, but outside of that I'm convinced they want to keep a secret. Keep everyone guessing, while they keep winning games. They seem like a bulletin board team. Everyone questions and doubts them and they use it as motivation during the week and then just surprise everyone on Fridays.
