Do I agree Hendrix should have made it ? Absolutely. But to call the award a joke is completely unfair to the players that were nominated. "Congrats Son, you won Mr. KY Football !!! By the way, the award is a joke" Not a fair statement.

I've watched SK twice. But also have seen highlights Hawkins playing strictly perimeter is a huge mistake. He needs to play inside and outside. Post up periodically around the basket, post up then face, then draw the defender outside with his perimeter threat. If he posts up, then a big man will be forced to guard him, then he draw him out of the lane with his 3 pt threat. This will open up the lane for others to dribble drive. Also open up things inside for Kelch. I love Kelch, great kid, has come a long way. Turning into a real good player. But it seems they only go over the top when smaller people full front him. They lob over the top, then he turns and has an easy layup. This needs to change for both the SK offense and Zach's development. I know he can play with his back to the basket, but he needs the in game reps to master the craft. On the next level, that over the top lob will never be there because of help from the weak side or a guard collapses down for a double team virtually sandwiching him and the player that is full fronting him. Really have to blame the coaches. Really missing the boat.

Cathedral has 6 D1 players on that team. I'll be going to the Best of the Bluegrass combine on Feb 9th. A lot of them were there last year, so it will be interesting to see if they are there again.

High Praise since Cov Cath's QB is has potential D1 talent. SK's QB's pretty Good too. I like Burch, but I'd like to see how he plays vs 6A. Might have to go watch that Game.

Unfortunately it did for Ryle. Scott County ran the wing T like they were playing the Orchestra. It came down to the wire, but they were an impressive offense, old school offense. Very smooth and rhythmic, if that's a word to describe an offense;)

Ryle had an Olineman start the whole season. Oline Coach Greg Ryan (WKU, NFL with Baltimore) called Jake Gideon the best Sophmore he ever coached. Ryle had a TE start after Jake Long went down with his knee injury. Stefan Clarkson started 9 games. LB, Jackson Saladin was very impressive. Started 3 games late in the season. 60 tackles on the year.

Coach Engler has not mentioned anything to the players as to summer schedules. They have their banquet coming up on January 12. Something might be mentioned then.

Yep, next man up : ) Ryle returns 7 starters on Offense among them 6A's rushing Leader and 6 on Defense. It will be a good match up.

Replacing T Morgan will be tough. His back up is very capable athletically. Very strong arm. Can run like a gazelle. It remains to be seen if they end up running more next year. Believe it or not, they ran more than they passed this year. (398 rush attempts vs 294 pass attempts)

This is still going to be a great match up.

Seems to me like all of these teams should be moving up classes with the exception of Trininy. (unless you want to make a 7A). Then it also seems like some of the teams that didn't win need to move down classes. For example. 6A and 5A teams getting blown out need to move down. I don't know, may sound stupid, but create parity by shuffling classes. Would make scheduling difficult.

To be honest, wasn't much concerned about the snub. Thought Ross definitely deserved it. He was a 3 yr starter at Ryle and a heck of a leader, teammate and mentor to my kid.

No question that offensive MVPs were Morgan and Chiz. Yes they did make the line look good no question. My earlier post was just the Snubbed left side. Now, keep in mind I'm partial. Behind my wife, I'm the second biggest fan of one of them. My son has played with Chiz since 7th grade. He has been making him look good for years. I'm just glad there are some D1 coaches that feel he is worth an offer. I'll trade an offer for a All NKY team any day. I just feel he and Ross should be considered for a the Fictitious All NKY Snub Team : ) I also agree with you in regards to next year. Will be interesting to see if Ryle becomes more run dependent. Pretty balanced this year. 294 pass attempts vs 398 rush attempts

Ryle's '17 OLineman, Chase Ross landed an offer from Morehead State today. So if your counting, that's 2 OL that were snubbed from Ryle that have D1 offers (Bisek '18 - Toledo). That's just the left side of the line. If your gonna have a All NKY Snub List. Put these two at the top.

Couldn't agree with you more. If Lonaker had the reigns sooner, it would be impressive. I wonder why they didn't use him as QB sooner. However, Nathan Brown was a stud last year as well.

I think Lonaker is a great QB and I have much, much respect for Coach Bourchers and what he does year in and year out developing not only QB's but players. I'm a Ryle guy, but my son still has many friends at Cooper, so I never have any ill will even when they play each other. But the difference between Morgan and Lonaker is in the types of throws made. Lonker had ton of West Coast Offense types of throws. Then when he did go long, and long he went many times. Many of them were up for grabs. Hendrix can out jump anyone. Morgan on the other hand didn't need to throw it up for grabs. There isn't a WR on Ryle's team that can out run his deep ball. When Western MI coaches were watching him throw. QB coach and the TE coach. He told the other guy. He's making all the throws in our playbook. We won't have to change a thing. This season I saw Morgan throw against the grain running left. He completed a old school Jump pass. Throw long, throw short, with touch then rocket passes. His pocket presence was not High School QB'esq. Morgan works his craft Again, Lonaker is a great QB and had a Great season. His stats proved that, I'm taking nothing away from him. The difference was in the types of throws.
