  1. 28-27 Trinity at the half. Henry Clay has played tough. Tisdale has played well, 11 pts. Felix Wilson hit a three at the buzzer for HC. Jordan Houston has done well, I think he has 8 points. Has hit three baseline jumpers to get away from Spalding inside. Speaking of Spalding, he has blocked a ton of shots. A couple were volleyball spikes. D'Angelo West had 9 pts for Trinity.
  2. I've often heard fans, and myself, yell at officials "Just give him a saddle!!!" Never was it more appropriate than this play. Side note, I like to watch all of Wireman's videos to see what I'm doing. (white shirt, front row)
  3. From what I've seen from the two teams I'd expect a 15+ point win for Trinity. I'm hopeful though that the Henry Clay/Ballard game wasn't a fluke and Henry Clay makes it a good game.
  4. Oh yeah, follow the doctors is what I'd do as well. Not questioning Elkins at all. I wouldn't expect him to ever say he couldn't play. In fact, he looked quite dejected sitting on the bench in his warmups before the game. I just didn't understand why he didn't come into the game till halfway through the 3rd. If a kid isn't healthy enough for a whole game then I don't think he's healthy enough to play.
  5. I couldn't agree more. I was surprised he played last night. As an observer with admittedly no knowledge of his injury I thought it was a mistake. If he's healthy, play him. If he's not, don't play him. Boyle is still good without Elkins. But with his defensive presence, rebounding, and points in the paint...they could beat anyone in the state on a given night. Not saying they would, but they could. And that is reason enough to ensure he's healthy come tournament time.
  6. That would seem right to me but you never know with some officials. Last week I was as Madison Southern at East Jess and MS was inbounding the ball. Kid inbounding the ball tried to call a timeout but the ref whistled him for 5 seconds. Nothing strange until that ref then conferred with the other two officials on what the call should be. You could tell by their body language they were like "You're counting, he called the timeout to you, it's YOUR call." It was an odd sequence.
  7. I plan to be there all day as well and will be tweeting updates of the game and other random stuff that entertains me. Only question is if I poop out by the last game. ha
  8. I'm going to assume Elkins doesn't play after having to come out last night. If so, I'd pick Lincoln by 6-8 points. Side note, it'll be fun watching Bell and Taylor in the same game. There aren't many better in the state at getting the defender on their hip and driving to the lane. They have different goals in mind when they do it but nonetheless I've seen very few defenders that could stay in front of either of them.
  9. Yeah. I think he hit 3 more 3's in the second half. Hitting the DEEP three at halftime seemed to get him going.
  10. While I was amused by it I didn't have a problem with ejecting the kid. It's one thing to taunt from afar but running over directly in front of the other team's student section and taunting them is asking for things to escalate. With that said, that doesn't justify those who threw bottles and stuff at the kid.
  11. I know a Boyle student got ejected. He grabbed a flag they had in the Boyle County student section and ran around the whole court to go wave it in front of the Mercer County student section. He got booed a lot and multiple things thrown at him from the Mercer students. When he got back to the Boyle student section he got a fist bump from an older Boyle Co fan and then was prompted escorted out of the gym. I was quite amused by it all.
  12. I'll be interested to see it. Live I didn't think it should have been intentional foul, it was most certainly a hard foul though. Just a kid making sure someone didn't an easy two points.
  13. I'm going to assume you're talking about against Lexington Catholic in their tournament. I was a few rows behind him. I don't think he got ejected. I'm pretty sure they were going to and he talked his way into being allowed to stay. It was an odd situation. I wasn't close enough to hear exactly what was said but I know the Boyle fan was right behind the wives/kids of the Lexington Catholic coaches. He wasn't up screaming or anything (but of course I'm not sure what the fan could have said that the wives/kids heard) and all of a sudden one of the assistant coaches for Catholic flips out and starts screaming at the Boyle fan. "You're out of here!!!" Gets in the fan's face and everything. The fan then got angry after the coach flipped out on him. In the end the fan just moved away from the bench and families. The coach's kid starts bawling, I'm going to assume from seeing his dad flip out. I'd know the Catholic coach if I saw him but don't know him by name.
  14. Some of their players were there too. I saw Jacob Conway and Brandon Pittman. Could have been more but I saw both of them walk right in front of me. Also...just a bit of self promotion. I started tweeting updates from games I go to about a month ago. KYBleacherButt on twitter if anyone is interested.
  15. According to this it seems as though the Sweet 16 will always be held the same weekend that the NCAA Tournament starts. Unless of course Rupp is hosting games.
  16. According to the Litkenhous ratings that came out from the Courier-Journal today. 17. You should be fine to sit anywhere. I've been the past 2-3 years, and will be at all 8 games Thursday, and I've always sat where I wanted. I don't specifically remember if that is because it is all general admission or just because they'll be plenty of empty seats. I want to think it is GA but either way, you'll be fine to sit wherever.
  18. I suppose what I meant by the comment was that anyone other than the big 3 seemed to turn the ball over. Scott Co doubled Gillespie many times in the first half to favorable results. While Woods didn't score I didn't feel like he was a liability on offense. And like you mentioned, as well as Stearns and Blevins played they really didn't need Woods' scoring. I didn't think the officiating was favorable towards Scott Co, there were some bad calls but nothing I'd call biased. The call you're talking about on the free throw was poor though. My buddy and I talked about it at the time. It looked like one of those plays where it may have been off of Wayne but that was only because the Scott player was over the back. Most often on a play like that the ball is just given to the defense without a foul being called. Did think of one other thing, I (and who I was with) thought Blevins was fouled a couple times on 3 pointers (just like the one they called in the last minute) that didn't get called.
  19. Not a prediction but I may go to this game and have never been to Mercer County's gym. Any suggestions on when to get there? Anything else that would be good to be aware of?
  20. I could have made a mistake but I only found 4 districts (38th, 39th, 44th, and 55th) that do a blind draw.
  21. Dunbar is only 8-12 after an 0-8 start. They've one 5 of their last 6 with their only loss being by 1 point to Wayne County. They could easily win the 11th. Or not even get out of that murderous district.
  22. The one time I saw Doss play he was very impressive, certainly a difference maker for them with his size and athleticism. Likely wouldn't have made a difference in the outcome of this game but things do have a tendency to snowball on high school teams and not having one of your best can contribute to that.
  23. Last year it was originally scheduled for Saturday 1/25 with five games (first tip at 1:30 and last at 8:30). It was rescheduled for Sunday 2/9 with four games (first tip at 1:00 and last at 5:30). An optimistic 90 minutes per game obviously. 8 of the 10 teams played with a couple matchups getting changed for one reason or another. My guess is something like that is worked out again. They'll probably try to get as many teams as they can to play on Sunday 2/8 or 2/15. 2/8 would make more sense but looking at Montgomery County's schedule they play on 2/6, 2/7, and 2/9 already so they may not want to play four straight days. That is the only schedule I looked at though, didn't bother with the others.
