  1. Haven't been around high school baseball as much but wanted to know how impressive (or how often) a perfect game is in high school baseball. Obviously more impressive with more innings, but are some teams that good and others that bad? Or does it still take an elite arm to do that?
  2. We talk about how tough it is to compare teams in WKY to teams in other areas of the state — a national poll only compounds that idea. I think they give you an idea of teams that are playing extremely well in their state, but without the teams playing each other (which only the ultra-elite do on a yearly basis), it's tough to compare and then rank high schools across the country. That said, Owensboro (and WKY in general) turned a lot of heads in Kentucky this year — and now we see that they've put WKY HS hoops on the map nationally. Hopefully we'll see some more recognition for them in the future.
  3. I think West Jessamine and SW are in a class of their own this year in the 12th. West cruised past Garrard 10-0 on Friday and have given up just two runs in three games, Southwestern already has a great win over Trinity.
  4. I think it depends on which Boyle County team shows up. Is it the team that was beaten down twice by Lincoln County, or the team that handled Cov Cath? I think Lex Cath will bring their game no matter what - and I expect them to win - but if Boyle (specifically Hagen Tyler and Colton Elkins) comes out with a fire in their eyes, they'll win this one.
  5. Don't sleep on West Jessamine... Lose three starters but they're deep. West JV won the 12th Region JV tournament, return their leading scorer (Holifield) and PG (Seater) and will probably have a transfer come in.
  6. Problem with Elkins is, who do you take off? I'd say someone from Wayne - all three are deserving but they're the only team with three players on the list. I'd rather have the champs get three players. Again, all of the players are deserving. Tough to take someone off for Elkins but I'm sure he'll get his next year.
  7. Hagen Tyler = 12th Region PotY for a reason. Not many players can step up in that situation and knock down both FT's.
  8. Lincoln won the first meeting, Boyle the second, Lincoln the third. Going with Boyle in the fourth. Let the trend continue.
  9. I'm going to take Wayne County by two with Stearns. Without him, I think Boyle wins by four.
  10. Sorry but like I said earlier there's no way someone can catch, turn and shoot in .6 seconds... .3 seconds is max for a tip-in. Again, credit Woods for the incredible shot, and West shouldn't have been in that situation anyway, but you can't catch turn shoot in .6.
  11. Southwestern vs. Mercer is going to be a great game. I think Mercer can out-run SW, but SW has bigger bodies. Should be a fun one.
  12. Photo shows ball in hand with 0:00 - but that doesn't matter. I don't think you can catch, turn and shoot with .6 seconds left. Game should've gone into OT, but West shouldn't have been in that position in the first place. Tough game to lose and Wayne has shown in the past that if you don't shut the door they'll make you pay. Some questionable calls by the officials, none bigger than the final. Great game all around and the semifinals should be a blast.
  13. I think Boyle got the "easiest" 1-seed. It'll still be a battle. TBH, every first round game should be. Could honestly see Lincoln overlooking Casey and getting upset. Each team is going to have to bring it every night.
  14. Mercer knocked the socks off of East Jessamine in the 46th district championship. Played like I haven't seen them play this year, and I've seen them play a handful of times. Also think it's Mercer's tournament to lose. Too deep, too talented. Scary that they're so young.
  15. Think Wayne and Southwestern have the likeliest chance of being upset in the first round. IMO Lincoln and Boyle have the easiest road, but those second round matchups could go any number of ways - awesome to see. Going to be exciting from the first game to the last.
  16. East played the free-throw percentages and lost on Tuesday night against Mercer (Mercer hit 20-of-22, on the season they're around 65%). Personally think Mercer's streak from the line won't last, the crowd will be a major factor and West wins this one by 7-10 points.
  17. Congrats and well deserved. So tough to guard.
  18. East beat Mercer when they were without Dow down low. Don't think the Jags can beat the Titans when both are at full strength.
  19. Do you know where districts will be played?
  20. If coaches keep this a "vanilla" game with regions coming up, I like Boyle that much more. Comes down to stopping Southwestern from deep, and I think Boyle is athletic enough to do that.
  21. A lot of it was the East admin's doing an extremely good job of keeping things under control. IMO West was out of line but when East beats West at West (it will happen), you can be sure East will return the favor.
  22. West shot horribly last night compared to Boyle, had nine more chances and made two less. Give some of that credit to Boyle's defense, but West probably should've won that game. West stands a good chance to beat anyone in the 12th when they shoot well. When they don't hit shots, the wheels fall off. Did at Lincoln, did vs. Mercer, did vs. Southwestern. Three big games in the 12th (two at home) and they lost by a combined 46 points. Really can't wait for the region tournament. If EVERYONE brings their A-game, Boyle is best, in my opinion. Going to be a fun one to watch.
  23. If East beats Burgin tonight and West on Friday, and Mercer beats Burgin on Friday, we'll have a three-way tie for 1st in the 46th. At that point, it's a blind draw between the three teams. If only two teams tie, it's a coin flip, from what I've been told.
  24. East Jessamine vs West Jessamine this Friday. Will decide the outcome of the 46th district.
  25. Okesson is a sharpshooter. Doesn't need any warm up, when he's in the game, he's going to shoot a three. Tullar is the prototypical West player: Lanky, does everything well, nothing spectacular. Neither get many minutes against bigger teams (ie, Boyle) so I don't think you'll see more than 10 minutes from either.
