Covcath has more talent than Cooper but Fern Creek is a senior dominated team that has talent at ever position. The FC win was not an upset and Cooper just out played CCH tonight. CCH is one of the top 5 teams in the state and have an excellent chance to be there at the end.

Cov. Cath seems to have no rhythm on offense, Ruthsatz and Fredrick seem to take turns getting their shot and every now and then they post up Walters. The other 2 players on the court are rarely involved in the offense besides setting picks. The Thelen kid scores on put backs and fast breaks but the 3 games I have seen them play he has never received the ball on a post up. They have a lot of talent and size! Also they do turn the ball over a lot especially their guards.

In my opinion he is the best senior in the state, plays all aspects of the game at a high level and is a very good athlete! Belmont got a steal!

Hard to believe you have a Iowa recruit and you have a soph just off the football field guarding Kunkel

There were some bad calls against both teams but Cov. Cath shot 27 free throws to Fern Creek's 17 so I dont think the referees hurt CCH too much , I saw a lot of ticky tack fouls that went against FC.

He can really shoot the ball but Kunkle is alot better off the dribble!

I havent seen the kid from Mercer Co. but Kunkle is the best senior in the state for my money!

McBride out for Moeller is a big loss, he is a very nice player. How long is he out.

Saw St. X play several times this year and was very impressed with their team. Thought they were well coached and had some excellent players. Understand that having a rival like Trinity you want to beat them more than you have in recent years but Trinity is so well coached and they have had some great play makers. When I have seen T and St. X play it always seems to me T has a little more speed which makes a big difference in the game.

I have watched CCH in person several times and have seen Trinity. I would make T a 2 -3 touchdown favorite. Their front 7 on defense is so talented and Rondale Moore is just so hard to stop (just ask Moeller I believe he had around 300 yards receiving). CCH has a very good team but I believe X and Scott County would be very tough games for them to win. Also hard to judge a great 5A in Kentucky because overall the 5A division is very weak this year. Also, I believe X would beat Trinity if they had Rondale.

St. X and Scott County would be very tough games for CCH. The difference between Trinity and all 3 is their defense and Rondale Moore. No one can handle that kid he is a very talented player!!

Very good point!! Talked to a guy who coached at the college level and has coached D1 quarterbacks and he said a quick release is what separates a lot of QB's. Asked him about AJ and he said great athlete but his release is why bigger schools haven't recruited him.

Should be a good game but GRC should have too much talent for Scott.

CCH would have a hard time with Scott County or St. X those two teams are very good, just turn on the game and you can see for yourself.

I have seen all 3 Ryle games and they will win their fair share of games but they dont have the talent to beat top teams. Ryle seems to always struggle in the speed department especially on Defense. Havent seen Belfry this year but if they are as good as last year they would beat Ryle easily.

Has anyone on this site considered that maybe he has poor grades in core class requirements or a low act score which caused D1 and D2 schools to back off recruiting him. Not saying this is the case but it could be a reason. Also, if he was lighting up the AAU circuit it is hard to believe he wouldn't have a had a D1 or D2 offer unless there was something outside of basketball. So not sure how well he played in the summer or maybe he didn't play much due to baseball. Also, some schools might have backed off recruiting him thinking he was going to play baseball.

Excellent Post!! WKU saw somethings they really liked and decided to give him a shot. Schools like NKU had questions on him and decided against giving Jake a scholarship. Recruiting is an art not a science.

Not sure what playing D1 or coaching D1 has to do with my comments, I did play 4 years of college ball and was a D2 assistant coach. Wasnt saying Jake cant succeed at WKU but just defending NKU which can look at players different than WKU, doesnt make one right or one wrong. And like I said I have played against and watched alot of kids who went D1 but ended up at a NAIA school or D2 due to playing time. Not saying that will happen to Jake because he is a very good player but he isnt a sure fire lock to have a great career at WKU. He will have stiff competition for playing time at WKU.

Just because WKU is better than NKU doesnt mean Jake was a right fit at NKU, they have a freshman guard that was every bit as good as Jake in high school and better than him on the AAU circuit. Jake impressed the WKU staff which is great for him. Going to WKU doesnt guarantee he will ever play significant minutes there. I could make a very long list of the players who went D1 only to transfer to a NAIA or D2 school due to lack of playing time. Wish the kid nothing but success but knocking the NKU staff after the year they had just because they didnt recruit a kid that no D1 was recruiting doesnt seem right in my book.

Jake is a very good a player and there might be a D1 school that will give him a shot but he isnt any better than Trent Gilbert of Scott County who lit up many schools in his career at Scott County and is now averaging 10 points a game at Georgetown. If Jake has to play the point at the D1 level I do think he will have a hard time defending some of the quick point guards that he would have to compete against. Also he will have a hard time finishing in the lane against D1 competition. He does 1 thing great that is worth teams definitely looking at and that is shooting the ball with unlimited range. I believe schools like NKU take in alot of factors when recruiting a point guard and Jake checks the box on some but there are questions on others.
