article Bluegrasspreps' 2016 Class 2A Pre-Season Preview
Cardinals44 replied to ATLCat's topic in KY Football (High School)
Not that it matters but Malik Britt of Murray has graduated from High school. I guess that means a few kids will get to move up in your ranking. I am 100% for sure, I watched him walk across the stage. -

Nice read! -
They were so fast in the state game at shooting the gaps that my brother couldn't even get the ball playing full back. They had a great defensive scheme that game.

How Would Your Final 2A Top 10 Go?
Cardinals44 replied to ATLCat's topic in KY Football (High School)
1 Mayfield 2 Desales 3 Cal 4 NCC 5 OC 6 Danville 7 Murray 8 Butler 9 Monroe 10 Lloyd -
I jus watched the highlights on our local news and this is EXACTLY what happened as I played it in slow motion. The punt landed and bounced up and hit the NCC player in the helmet. When the ball come off of his helmet, it hit a Mayfield players helmet which was at the 6 yd line and then the ball bounced off of his helmet and it went rolling into the endzone and Mayfield recovered. It was called and now it's over so there is nothing that can be done.

Very proud of this team for stepping up to 2A and making a statement. New Cath is a solid team and played great defense today. We made jus enough plays when New Cath didn't. Again, our defense won this game for us like they have the past few weeks. Offense wasn't clicking but made enough plays to get the job done when it counted. Very glad to be a part of this program! It's great to be a Mayfield Cardinal!!!!!!

For the Old Timer Mayfield Fans

You got that right. He has put many a players out of the game when he was playing LB. -
Looks like out of all the teams left in all classes we are the most balanced team with only 185 yds difference

Tony Brown from the mid 80's definitely needs to be on that list. Another would be Chris Barnes from the early 90's. -

Cardinals44 replied to Ram's topic in KY Football (High School)
I have seen Beechwood play over the past few years and know what they are capable of, and from watching these videos post on Pikeville, I am excited about this game. Im thinking it will be a tight one in the first half. looking forward to it. -
What can be done with Marshall County
Cardinals44 replied to BEENTHERE_DONETHAT's topic in KY Football (High School)
Marshall County is building a new middle school that will combine two middle schools. It will have all new facilities, including what looks like a new football field. This can be a huge change changer in Marshall county sports. They currently have three middle school teams and do not have a chance to play on the same team until they enter high school. With that said, it all depends on how the middle school coaches buy into coach Merrick's system. Personally I see this as a huge improvements and a wonderful opportunity. -
Not saying I have the answer here but I think not having the size is the reason why. I might get blasted by that statement but I think that could be the reason. For example, Trajon Bright. One of the best running backs in 2A. Great football player! His stats are very good. He is fast, reads blocks very well, and knows the game of football but I think his size is what will hurt him at the next level. There is no doubt he could play at the next level. I have seen several very good athletes play football at Mayfield. Another example is our lineman. About 12 years ago we had a player named Micah Jones who played on the line. Kid was huge. Another great football player for Mayfield. Well he got a scholarship to play for Kentucky because he had the size. I have seen some very good lineman go through Mayfield but they were smaller and didn't play at the next level. We may not have the biggest kids to make it to the next level but I can tell you one thing we do have to make up for it and that is heart and determination. We are in the hunt for a state championship every single year. Always have been, always will be.
