Two teams that know something about 1A State Championships. Beechwood has been there more the Pikeville, but Pikeville has a coach that has played in the State Championship, he will tell them what it's all about.

Stringer or Pugh? That will be one of the questions this week. Pugh finished the Semi-Final game with 260 yards on the ground. Can Beechwood stop Deric Pugh?

Stringer has over 1,500 yards on the ground and runs hard. Can Pikeville stop him?

The passing game: Pikeville's Battaile has completed 82% of his passes, what will Beechwood's answer for him be?

Beechwood's Fieger has passed for over 2,400 yards, will Pikeville have the defensive backfield to stop him?

Give me the Tigers!

Fine. I'm taking the Panthers. Accurate QB, a beast of a RB and a strong defense. Sounds like a Championship team to me.

This isn't College Gameday.

Do you have some kind of eastern KY bias?

Do you really think Pikeville is going to win?

Do you really think Pikeville is going to win?

You started it.

I said it, I mean it. Who did I cleverly disguise as my prediction in private today as making the finals? I knew Pikeville would be here, and I think they have a great chance of winning in Bowling Green.

Pikeville better be able to muscle Beechwood up front if they want to win.

Beechwood isn't going to throw anything at Pikeville up front they haven't already seen.

Meanwhile, Beechwood hasn't seen a back like Daric Pugh.

September I would say Beechwood by 2 TD's... November I say get a nice shiny coin and flip it

What is Pikeville's Offensive Line like?

Both coaches have championship backgrounds either as a player or coach.........None of the players in this game have any championship game experience......I would expect a great game and nothing less:popcorn:

What is Pikeville's Offensive Line like?

Stout and extremely well conditioned, I would call them a well above average 1A line.

There was a thread this week about quick vs. big lines... Pikeville definitely fits in the quick mold but they aren't exactly a bunch of HB's filling roster spots.

They move very well and are relentless with their blocks.

How is Beechwood's Special Teams play?

The biggest vulnerability with Pikeville is Special Teams. They have given up some substantial kick returns and their kickers really aren't overly impressive. Probably 70% of Pikeville's kickoffs are designed squib kicks.

Then it should be one heck of a game as long as Pikeville can defend the pass too because Beechwood has a high level Class 1A passing attack.

THIS WAS FROM THE BELFRY/PIKEVILLE PREVIEW THREAD...OBVIOUSLY SOME CHANGES MAY HAVE HAPPENED BUT HERE IS WHAT PIKEVILLE WAS USING THEN:

Pikeville Offense

T # 61 Tanner Roop 6'0 241 Sr

G # 56 Austin Salyer 5'10 230 Jr

C # 59 Logan Coleman 5'10 225 Sr

G # 64 Nate Campoy 5'10 190 Jr

T # 53 Kyle Martin 6'3 245 Jr

TE # 7 Andrew McNamee 6'1 190 Jr

PIKEVILLE DEFENSE

DE # 45 Daric Pugh 6'0 210 Sr

DT # 59 Logan Coleman 5'10 225 Sr

NG # 58 Gunner Edmonds 5'11 250 Jr

DT # 55 Dalton Meade 6'2 245 Sr

DE # 33 Cody Charles 5'11 215 Sr

LB # 56 Austin Salyer 5'10 230 Jr

LB # 52 Isaac Lucas 5'9195 Sr

Two great programs with both a long standing tradition of winning and Championships.

I will be pulling for Pikeville as they represent the Eastern part of our state but I think that Beechwood will come away with another State Championship, the only people that have kept the Tigers from that are now in 2A.

Beechwood by 9.

As anyone can see Pikeville's line would not be considered huge, however very quick, and very stout. Arguably, the best in years. Defensive line, very potent against the run. Beechwood had better be ready.
