I'm not defending the Maher system and I don't know if all of Saturday 9/10 games were factored into this week's rankings. I agree with Goal15 you clearly need to take all of the week's games into the equation. As an example CCH beat #27 McNick 5-2 (# 27 in Cincy at that time) @ McNick and tied #4 Trinity @ Trinity 1-1. Ballard lost to #3 St X (#3 at that time) 6-2 @ home. Point is you can't just factor in CCH's lost @ Ballard. Daviess CO, Oldham Co, Louisville Collegiate, and Mercer Co all went 3-0-0 last week. Woodford Co went 1-2-0. Clearly if you want to hold or move up you need to have good results Vs good teams, and you better not stub your toe at home.

Thanks AllenR, I had no idea. 627 post on a prediction thread, wow. So any idea on what percentage of those 627 predicted the correct outcome between HHS and Johnson Central? And I had no idea this site has existed since 2008, learn something new every day! Safe to say either Greenup Co and Johnson Central have huge followings or not much to do down there when UK BB is in their off season?

Not normally on the football pages but couldn't help but notice this thread has 16 pages and counting. Is this some kind of record? Does it have more to say about the strength of this year's Ryle team or the weakness of HHS team?

HHS 6 clean sheets in a row, impressive. CCH 1-1 against a very good Trinity team in Louisville, impressive. HHS will be up for this game between the white lines and in the stands. Can CCH put together back to back good performances in a row? After starting off the season with 4 straight wins CCH has gone L,W,T,W,L,W,T, still looking for some consistency. It begins with playing with the same intensity they played with against Trinity and settling in with a set starting 11 and rotation, if this happens I expect a 3-0-0 week for the "School from Park Hills." CCH 2 - HHS 0 Why the "School from Park Hills"? I don't see you use School from Ft Thomas, School from Erlanger, School from Newport, etc?

Tough week + plus for NDA, going 1-4-1 in past 6 games. Two of those L to IN teams, not sure IN teams factor into the Maher system. Lost to a good @ Mount ND and beat current #20 Simon Kenton 4-0. I understand Maher simply takes results and inputs them into their system. But surprised NDA falls all the way from #1 to #9 in one week, especially if the 2 games involving IN are not factored in.

Two teams going in opposite directions? Brossart 3-1-0 in the last 4 games, only loss a good showing 0-2 against PL Dunbar. Calvary Christian 1-2-1 and having to come back from down 0-2 to get a tie against Villa. Congrats on the win Brossart. Brossart Vs NCC will be interesting. Brossart playing much better then earlier in the season, NCC on a 3 game win streak but all 3 wins against weak teams.

Per Friday's post on the CCH/Trinity prediction thread: GPR prediction, "Saturday's game should be a low scoring contest, CCH 0- Trinity 0" imsays prediction, "Wishful thinking. I'm going to go trinity 3 cov cath 0." "Wishful thinking"…don't think so. Certainly watching it on video Vs in person I may have not gotten the complete feel for the game but I saw this as a very fair result. Heard Ventre picked up a slight injury in training so CCH likely went with a different lineup then they had hoped for. Stava moved to OSB in place of Ventre and Deimling gets the start up top. Could have been a different game with Stava's size and strength as a holding target up top against the large size and strength of Trinity's back line, they are impressive. Great hard fought match by both teams. Both teams had a couple of chances, I did not see this as "CCH probably lucky to get out with a tie". Probably the best total team effort by CCH this season, good confidence builder heading into the second half of the season.

Sounds like a disappointing night for Calvary Christian x2. I thought this season they had elevated themselves a bit more, maybe not?

Yes and no. Yes for the obvious reason, you don't get a very high ranking by accident, it is earned. Very good teams typically do well in the State Tournament. No due to some of the top teams are in the same region, only one team advances out of each region. As an example: #3, #4, #9, #13, and #14 are all in Region 7. #5, #7, #8, #15, #17, and #18 are all in Region 11. #6, #16, #19, and #20 are all in Region 9. So out of these 15 top 20 teams, only 3 will advance to the State Championship Tournament.

"not the greatest"? Does it even (media coverage of HS soccer in NKY) exists? I have mentioned this before. I would like to see head coach, JV coach, AD and referees vote. Not a perfect world but you can make an argument the more people voting the more accurate the results will be.

Does the over/under include the St Henry keeper? If yes, put me down for an even 7, if keeper is not included in the final count put me down for under 6. Can't wait to see the video or still photo to once and for all set the record straight. Where do I collect? Does the "house" win on 7?

Have you ever seen ASnow play before? Saying its "hard for him to score", especially against St Henry (see last yrs Regional contest) or maybe talk with Campbell Co HS fans. These two previous games from the 2015 season may provide more insight into what I'm talking about.

From a unbiased fan of HS soccer reading this back and forth, I gather from reading comments from a Cooper fan and some St Henry fans, the in question PK foul against ASnow, IMO (only from reading about it on BGP) was a good call. YC seems to know the game well and his description makes it clear the situation occurred WELL inside the box. The St Henry supporters made it sound as though it was at or near the top edge of the box. I'm still curious to know if this was a fair result. A St Henry supporter has indicated the center ref made have had an influence on the outcome. My point of St Henry allowing the equalizing goal in the last 23 seconds had the biggest impact on the final result. If you want to win the game, don't allow the ball to go into the back of your net in the final 23 seconds.

With CCH's lack of experience it is not surprising the coaching staff has played all of their players a lot of minutes and in a ton of different combinations up to this point. But at some point you would think they will settle into a firm starting 11 and roll with it. Consistency, rhythm, flow, knowing your teammates, etc is built through repetition. Almost exactly at the half way mark of the regular season is it time to start preparing for the post season, likely. Some very tough opponents coming up in the second half, @ Trinity, @ HHS, @ Ryle, @ Anderson (OH), Madison Central, @ Seven Hills (OH), Cooper, and Summit (OH), not doubt this team will be tested.

Looking for a little clarification, was ASnow awarded 2 PKs or were Cooper and St Henry each awarded one PK each? From the sounds of things, according to St Henry fan, one referee ("Same ref at both Copper and NCC game") must have it in for St Henry? So was last night's 3-3 tie a fair result or skewed by the center ref? Either way I don't see how anyone can blame the ref when you give up the tying goal with 23 seconds left in the game.

WOW! Sitting here at work following along, thanks for the updates YC. So at 10:11 PM you wrote St Henry up 3-1, where did it go so wrong for St Henry, so right for Cooper? Good result for Cooper, St Henry must really feel like they let another one (see NCC game) slip away. This has to give Cooper confidence going into their all important district match up Vs Ryle on 9/15.

Nice win for CCH after a difficult result @ Ballard on Tuesday. "Sloppy" or not, I would expect McNick to be at least respectable. Nothing wrong with building some confidence heading into Saturday's clash @ Trinity. I missed this one, who scored for CCH, did Stava play?

Love it! Only wish more schools' student body turn out in large numbers to support their classmates.

Not sure I would agree with "two different communities". I have known tons of families with children in both schools, some at the same time, some not at the same time. There are many examples of these two schools combining on very worth while community service projects over the years. Both schools have supported each other (yes not on every single issue) in a number of ways for years. As an example, just this season both schools' soccer programs held a Homeless Awareness event. IMO it would benefit CCH (to a point) to consider NDA when (and vice versa) putting together schedules. Not saying on every single game, put once a season scheduling a double header…a WIN WIN for both schools.

I believe Simon Kenton is in the 8th region. I never said they were in the 9th.
