No doubt the plot has thickened. In July NDA was not only a big favorite to win the 9th region but to win another State Championship as well. NDA has suffered way more then their fair share of season ending injuries this season. If they can some how find a way to win their sixth 9th Region title in a row it would be one heck of an accomplishment.

I would agree Blom will be missed, hopefully he is back in time for Regionals. I heard Ventre may be ready to go, I would try him at OSMid in place of Blom. This will be another good test for CCH, good prep game for the post season. Summit is a lot better then any team they will face in the 9th region. Summit will likely have the ball a lot, CCH must stay organized and disciplined. And when they get their chances in front of the goal they HAVE to finish them. Summit 2 - CCH 1

Summit Country Day travels to CCH on Tuesday Oct. 4, kickoff @ 7PM under the lights. Summit is currently ranked #3 in Ohio and #1 in Cincinnati. Bringing with them a record of 10 - 1 - 1, 63 goals for/7 goals against. They are on a 7 game win streak. #7 CCH is 13 - 4 - 2, 64 goals for/13 against. They are on a 5 game win streak/ 4 straight shutouts. Predictions/thoughts?

I believe CCH has won this tournament two straight years. Until someone takes it away from them, I'm sticking with them. CCH beats HHS in finals, don't know enough about either to make a score prediction.

I VuVu 4 U, I think when St Henry fan wrote "hard for him (ASnow) to score", they thought there were "closer to 10" (between him and the goal) "10 to 15 players between him and the goal", and "he stubbled and fell". Of course video never lies, only shows what the camera captured. Hands down ASnow is one of the best under18 players I have ever seen in the air, fantastic!

Two 4-0-0 teams in their last 4 games. Cooper has 18 goals for, 1 against Vs an average team rank of 115.25, (Boone not ranked so I gave them a 176, Maher stops at 175 in KY). CCH has 12 goals for, 1 against Vs an average team rank 39.25 (and two of these are OH teams where ranking are higher/more good teams). Another night game @ CCH, kickoff at 7PM. CCH 3- Cooper 0.

Establishing goals is one thing, achieving them is another story. How far are you into the achieving part?

Can the "meaningful goals" be found on the team's stat page? I thought most teams' stats per game are kept on the KHSAA site. It would take a lot of time to put together each players' "meaningful goals", but I think it could be done at least with respect to games won by a very low score, say 1-0 or 2-1.

I think this (bold) makes the SoS factor even more important. I would expect ALL players to score more against their weaker opponents, pretty much common sense. So it only makes sense to say players on team with a high SoS (weak schedule) have an easier time scoring then players on a team with a low SoS (strong schedule). I also think it is interesting to see how many goals each player scored in their teams blow outs, such as 6 to 7 or more goal margin wins. Many times we find some players having scored a majority of their goals in 2, 3 or 4 games where they got 4, 5 or more goals in these very one sided contest. Can someone explain why St Henry is playing a schedule with a SoS of 516? I have followed HS soccer for sometime, back in the day this program always played a much, much tougher schedule. Lamb's 16/11 (1 goal, 1 assist in last night's game) playing for CCH with a SoS of 60 is really impressive. Next is ASnow, 21/5 playing with the 2nd best Sos of 123. Nice job by both for getting the job done (productive) against good teams!

Everything in Sir!'s post above is dead on, 100% accurate. End of the debate, this officially concludes the discussion on which players should or should not play in the JV regional tournament. Thank you Sir! for making it SO simple. Bring on the discussion about which team will win the title and which players may have an impact on their varsity team next season.

Not sure what's more fun about the JV tournament, reading about matchups, predictions, and results or which teams are using players that have seen a lot of varsity minutes and the varied opinions if this is right or wrong. My take on using players in the JV tournament that have lots of varsity minutes. The one that makes it obvious which team (s) are bringing "down" varsity players are the ones that only bring down these varsity players for the difficult games, usually the semi final and/or final. IMO if a team only brings "down" varsity players for these difficult games, then it's not right.

Now that changes a lot. NDA playing with 10 for 60 minutes and 3rd game in 3 days/4th if 5 days, playing on the road, loosing in the last seconds, really encouraging result for them considering these circumstances. Surprised NDA agreed to this rescheduled date. Can't wait for the rematch with much, much more on the line. At this point NDA may be the favorite given the last night's situation.

Yes Blom was in street clothes last night along with Ventre and Belton. CCH only had 3 field player subs.

Did Tierney get a red card? Or did NDA only have 11 healthy players? I know NDA has been hit very hard with a ton of injuries to some of their best players, a few of these season ending injuries. Sounds like an instant classic. Considering the injuries and NDA playing with 10 for the last 20 minutes or so of the second half, probably not a bad result for them. The potential rematch in the 9th region will be one not to miss. Congrats to HHS on the win.

Does Holmes not have a backup keeper, did they use a field player as goalie? Are you saying this is why Homes lost? Makes an already interesting 35 District tournament even more interesting. Heck even the draw should be interesting, maybe someone will stream it live on YouTube.

Covington Catholic get a goal off a corner kick in the first half, Russo to Stava to get to the half 1-0. Second gets better for CCH, Stava to Lamb puts CCH up 2-0 and Wulfeck puts it away for good with a well earned PK. Final CCH 3 @ Seven Hills 0 Three in wins in a row for CCH against 3 good teams, two on the road in OH, 1 goal allowed in this stretch and that goal was a PK.

I took your comment in your post #11 as you saying Rodenberg left CCH because he knew there was very little talent in the pipeline, in large part because he ignored developing these kids and he just won at State Championship. My sources tell me he left to continue adding to his years of service in the Cincinnati diocese to ensure his retirement. Maybe I misunderstood your comments, either way I was just pointing out the guy most likely left CCH to put himself in a better situation to take care of his family.

Would agree with most of these comments, never say never but I would be shocked to hear of a college coach attending a HS practice session. I've known local college coached such as Mt St Joe, TMC, NKU in NKY and Transy, Georgetown and few others in Lexington (and likely Louisville) attend games between top HS teams when it fits the college coaches schedule. Clearly college coaches do by far most of their recruiting at top showcase tournaments and their own on campus ID camps. Way more effective and better use of their limited resources.
