7th region showdown Wednesday Night. Trinity @ St X, Any Predictions?

Featured Replies

Big game in Louisville this evening. Trinity visits St X.

Trinity has a strong defense, but doesn't produce as many goals as they have in the past. St X has played a solid schedule. Trinity has owned the region in the past three years. Rain may be a factor.

Prediction:

Trinity scores one early, St X presses late and gives up a late one on a counter attack.

2-0 Trinity

( Already posted in the other St X/Trinity thread) Ive seen both several times. I would have to go with St. X. They are more physical and in this game that will be huge. It will be close but St. X at home in a rivalry game will be too much. St X 3 Trinity 1.

St X 2 - Trinity 0.

I'm sure this thread (s) will get a lot of traffic, can the mods combine both St X and Trinity prediction threads?

I know that Trinity has the one defender signed/committed to Louisville as well as freshman Jack Fischer but who are some players to look for from St X? Every time I have seen them play there is no real stand out just a solid team who plays outstanding together.

I will go with Trinity in this one by a score of 2-1. Whoever comes out of the 7th Region is the favorite for the state championship in my opinion.

Agree with the bolded. The bad news is, the winner of the Region 9/12 matchup gets the winner of the Region 6/7 matchup this year.

Good work. Trinity won 2-1. Was up 2-0 and st x got a late one back to close the gap

GP, how does that go again, "every blind squirrel finds a nut every…" ha ha just throwing it back at you bro. Seriously very nice call! Not quite up to par with a few of my famous upset predictions, but who's counting?

Sounds like a good game. Would like to hear some details.

Trinity seemed to press forward early, bringing a defender up and putting pressure on st x. After the first goal Trinity dropped back and played more defensively. Trinity's second goal came from a long all into the box and the keeper misplayed the ball in traffic. Ball went through his hands and carried into the goal. At that point Trinity got more players behind the ball. St x had a nice shot from distance that got in, to close the gap with about 6 minutes left. But they couldn't muster anything else. Difference in the game was the keepers. Trinity's keeper played very well, st.x not so much. The 7th region is going to be very tough. Throw Collegiate into the mix and you may have the top 3 teams in the state coming out of the 7th.

How much more interesting would regular season and the state tournament be if regular season was shortened by a week and tournament expanded to 32 teams with Regional Champs getting an automatic bid and remaining 16 selected "at large" -- maybe based on Maher Rank? Then seed the teams by geography and strength; then play first two games at the higher seeds' home fields. Never happen, but THAT would be a cool tourney.

I hereby nominate Sir! for the newly created position of "Kentucky Soccer Czar".

I think anything would be more interesting than what we have now.
