The bulk of the JV Regional is this weekend. For whatever reason, JV players will be shoehorned into the confines of Town and Country's split fields. 4 games were played on Friday. Who won the Brossart/CovCath game?

Why do they play these games on the small, 1/2 field? I know in the early rounds they have two games going on simultaneously so playing on the 1/2 field is understandable. But I've seen the final played on the 1/2 field with the other 1/2 not being used by no one but the little siblings running around, makes no sense not to play at least the final on the full field.

Ryle would be going off of the CovCath score, IMO. Highlands is doing well. They have lost to only Trinity and Anderson. Tough to say on those fields. Most technical team should win since speed gives way to quickness of foot and thought.

So should we start the "Varsity Watch" for this tournament? Who is enforcing the new rules?

I'd agree that Ryle is the team to beat in the JV regional based on what I saw vs. CCH JV. I think they had probably 6 varsity kids in that game from what I counted.

I thought someone from Ryle clarified that it was JV players brought up for the Varsity game to cover for injured Varsity kids? Either way, many of the smaller schools have to share players across multiple teams.

I understand this, but unlike the Freshman regional, this isn't a "class" tournament so, IMHO, if the smaller schools have numbers issues and pull others up to play substantial V minutes, then they don't qualify to enter the JV T.....

Not sure what's more fun about the JV tournament, reading about matchups, predictions, and results or which teams are using players that have seen a lot of varsity minutes and the varied opinions if this is right or wrong.

My take on using players in the JV tournament that have lots of varsity minutes. The one that makes it obvious which team (s) are bringing "down" varsity players are the ones that only bring down these varsity players for the difficult games, usually the semi final and/or final. IMO if a team only brings "down" varsity players for these difficult games, then it's not right.

If a program doesn't have enough players to field a JV and Varsity program without cross pollination then that is outside their control. Excluding them from the JV tournament for that would be the definition of elitist attitude and completely spit in the face of the whole goal of school sports, which is participation.

Agree 100%. Where numbers require split duty during the season, then play them. If they haven't been regulars during the season, don't supplement now. If you need an extra body or two, reward a freshman and bring them up. If you're just that short on players, don't enter a tournament where you could play 4 games in a 24-hour period. It's just not that hard.

Bring on the discussion about which team will win the title and which players may have an impact on their varsity team next season.

Not 100% sure but I don't think Bishop Brossart , Holy Cross or Scot even played a jv schedule?

The very definition of "bothways" (who actually has a very definite opinion, though), as does OTB in contradiction to the post I quoted. This discussion is starting to get confusing so I think I'll stick with the prediction part of it.
