mexitucky
Ryle and Highlands tied at 1-1 in the second half. Highlands goal on a PK gift from the ref. Normally you are pretty harsh, but you are being gentle here. "Gift" is way too polite. That was atrocious. It benefitted my team, but good Lord. Sir!
Yeh...Conner got robbed vs Highlands. Absolutely poor officiating. Conner GK had 3 or 4 great saves to keep the game with Highlands close. One came on a shot deflected on the way in that he was still able to dive and parry wide. Last year Conner upset Highlands at JV regionals. Conner JV is well coached and come play. As for the goal that came off the crossbar, neutral observers by the Conner goal confirmed it crossed the line. The backspin from clipping the underside of the bar spins the ball back out after it bounces behind the line. If you watch enough soccer to get in trouble with your spouse you've seen it dozens of times.
Sir!
Highlands 2 Ryle 1 (PK's) Ryle completely dominated the game. I wouldn't say Ryle completely dominated, but they definitely had more possession. Ryle has a deep and very talented JV team. As noted, their GK is very good and apparently a good enough ball striker to be picked in the first 5 to shoot for Ryle in PKs. Adam Arellano, Bailey Malkemus and Evan Paul were all very strong players and should help Varsity down the line. The game was hard fought with a lot of fouls given - that's partly a product of playing on a tight field. It was awesome, though, to see a group of young men from both teams who played club soccer together taking pictures together after the game. groinpull
The Ryle keeper taking a PK was a major coaching blunder in my opinion. Kid had enough pressure already and adding that was a mistake. It is nice to see two actual JV teams make the final.
Joydowntherrtside
What is your point, two actual jv teams. . What teams in the semi's were not actual jv.
groinpull
Two JV teams with no varsity players.
LJT
Calvary isn't a big enough school to play no varsity players. Freshman play on the varsity team, they only have 2 seniors that play soccer and they didn't play in the jv tournament, So they had to play varsity players or it would have been a team of 7th graders. Good games from everyone tho.
