I feel like this was a disappointing performance from the Jags tonight, it did not look like they were ready to play this one.

 

The first goal for Lamb was just a few minutes into the match, he met little resistance from the Cooper defender and once he cleared him he cut to the middle and buried it far corner.

 

The second goal was also because of poor defending. Cooper had multiple chances to clear the ball but they were not able to do so, Stegman was eventually able to knock it in from close range.

 

The third goal came early in the second. It looked to me that the Cooper defender was not able to clear it and the ball fell to Lamb. No one got to him and he had no trouble converting the open shot.

 

CCH was awarded a PK shortly after their third goal, I did not have a great view of what happened but it did not appear to be a good call. As luck would have it, Boles turned away the attempt by Stava.

 

Cooper really only had a few scoring chances tonight and for the most part, had very limited presence up front. I thought that their best chance was taken away on a poor call from the ref in the second half. A Cooper player was called for fouling the goalie, it sure appeared to be his own defensive back that hit him.

 

The score could have easily been more one sided if the Colonels had better success at converting the chances they were given. I am not sure how many corners CCH had tonight, it seemed like 10-12, lucky for Cooper.... they are pretty good at defending them.... I don't remember the Colonels ever being able to get on the end of one.

 

The Jags will need to come with more energy this Saturday or they will be looking at a similar result.

I expected a closer contest than this. As YC says, this could have been a larger margin easily. Not much offensive push by Cooper in this one and they rarely looked to threaten.

 

CCH was getting into some old bad habits with kicking the ball down the field without any intention or purpose and they still seem to have some players who are enamored with their own dribbling skills instead of making easy, simple passes to open teammates. Execution in the final third did not look too good.

 

Defensively, CCH has been looking very solid lately. Big test vs. Summit Country Day next week.

Four clean sheets in a row for CCH in their fifth win in a row, against some pretty good teams, (Anderson OH's only loss on the season, MC's only loss in their last 8 games, Cooper's first loss in 5 games). Holding Snow (21G/5A, 1.9 gpg on the season) scoreless is no easy task, so job well done again. As for the offense, missing Blom is a factor, moving him to OSMid has made a difference in their attack. CCH has scored 15 goals in this 5-0 run, 3 gpg will win you a lot of games. And hats to the Cooper goalie, he made a few nice saves last night

Cooper has a nice team, if they can get healthy it would not surprise me if they win the 33rd District.
