Is this a NCC policy, not to re-enter the game if you receive a yellow card? What was the yellow card given for, was it warranted or one of the many given out of under false pretenses?

Villa beats Dixie 3-0 last night, This likely gives Villa the #2 seed in the district providing them a path to a possible regional appearance. Not sure when the last time Villa made it out of their district, but safe to say "there are cool things going on with all" four!

NO question, NO debate that is a foul, PK all the way. I watched the video 6-7 times and I count 5 St Henry field players and their keeper in the box (in the area, within 12 yards of ASnow). St Henry #18 is outside the box behind ASnow, out of the play. And for you that said some of the following, come on man, lets be real on here. Can we at least be somewhat accurate on these game descriptions? It should be well known by now almost everything is caught on video. "I still think there were more than 6. I think is was closer to 10 than 6." "The problem is there were about 10 t0 15 players between him and the goal so it would have been hard but not impossible for him to score without someone getting to him." "From my vantage point, the first PK awarded to Snow came out of nowhere. Snow was turned the other direction and running out of the box to go for the ball. He stumbled and fell just inside the box and a PK was awarded." Ridiculousness Got to run, I have a some cash to pick up!

Simon Kenton does have a nice team, in particular #12 stood out for them. Can they contend for the 8th region title, Oldham Co looks to be the class of that region. Simon Kenton Vs Campbell Co on Saturday will be an interesting matchup, difficult game to predict. Back to back good games for CCH, they are coming together. The ball movement all over the field is really nice to see, maintaining possession and switching the field is allowing them to get players forward. The play in the final third improved against Anderson, last night they became more creative with their runs and through balls, fun to watch. It could have easily been a 4 or 5 to 0 result. Lamb hit a twisting ball in the first half to beat the Simon Kenton keeper, and pretty sure Blom got the second goal in the second half. Tough match on Saturday Vs defensive minded Madison Central, only 9 goals allowed on the season.

Can anyone tell me why Villa Madonna has received almost zero publicity on BGP while many have fallen over themselves to get to the front of the line to write how good (great in some cases) a season Beechwood, Calvary Christian, and Holmes are having? Many have mentioned Calvary has a very small student body to support a soccer program. Villa Madonna and Calvary Christian have almost the exact number of students K-12, around 400. The following are some facts about all 4 teams. Beechwood, #94, SoS 442, 7-5-2 Calvary Christian, #102, SoS 725, 8-3-3 Holmes, #100, SoS 703, 7-3-3 Villa Madonna, #124, SoS 134, 4-5-4 Villa has TIED Calvary and Holmes this season, haven't played Beechwood yet. Sure Villa has the worst W-L-T record of the 4 but they have by far played the most difficult schedule. I'm not here to say how great Villa is just wondering why Beechwood, in particular Calvary and Holmes have received a lot of write up on BGP this season and Villa has received basically zero when all 4 are having very similar (successful for them) seasons?

My guess it there is zero relation. From what I know the kids attending Calvary HS have come up through their school from day one, K-12 or moved into the area and attend the school for its strong Christian beliefs. This is NOT a knock on Scott, but only a compliment to Calvary.

I know nothing about Collegiate or #5, I based my comments on post #5 & #6, so my apologies to both. Apparently they are more then one player, but time will tell. In Collegiate's only loss and tie, # 5 did not score nor did he get an assist in either game and their SoS is 212, not picking on them just pointing out facts. One thing is for certain, which ever team wins the 7th region will be a hand full and likely the #1 or #2 favorite to win it all this season.

Over the years I've witnessed many teams that basically rely on one player not do well in come single elimination time. Teams can better prepare tactically to stop this one player, wear him down, frustrate him, etc. And it sounds like this #5 for Collegiate is that typical player that falls into the "trap", i.e. already one red card Vs St X. Very difficult to make a deep run in the State Tournament , 3, 4, 5 wins when your entire offense is pretty much dependent on one player. And Collegiate has to get past Trinity and/or St X just to get out of the 7th Region.

Villa is well coached and has a few good results this season. Beat WV and tied Beechwood, Calvary Christian, and Holmes, three teams many on BGP has made out as gangbusters. Would be nice to see Villa in the Regionals. Anyone know the last time they got it? Villa 2 - Dixie 1.

Good question and I will be interested to hear from some insiders. I can only speculate but certainly one can assume there are a few reasons for their ambiguity. Their former coach appeared to allow anything and everything go on with no accountability? AD and administration allowed the program to run amok? Kenton Co open enrollment policy, in combination with an out of control program invites and allows players to attend other Kenton Co schools? Not sure how any parent of a junior high student that witnessed this program under the former coach and the 2014 State Finals game in particular would be excited to have their son play for this program. Just so happens the talent is down? Its hard to blame how far the program has fallen in a very short time on this one alone.

Its been almost two weeks, anyone ever come up with a video or still shot to prove how many players were in the box, between ASnow and the St Henry keeper? I've been trying to collect my winnings but my…won't pay up until I have visual proof.

Wow, "good JV game this year". Not sure all the Calvary fans on here will appreciate that comment. Many have protrayed them to be much more than that. Based strictly on the numerous comments about how good this yrs team is I would expect them to contend for the 10 region title.

Agree with the "thought Calvary would have had a better result" Vs Connor. I would have thought more like a 3-4 goal win, Connor is way down this season. Can Calvary win their region this year, region 10 is over all down, not sure there is a dominant team. Bourbon Co sits on top and they are #56 in KY, kind of says it all.

And I'll agree the second goal was started off a bad turn over by Anderson, but it wasn't like Lamb picked the kids pocket on the 6 yrd line, CCH still had some work to do. Anyway we agree on sometings, "couldn't be happier with the result" is certainty one of those things. GP may have a totally different take all together, if he was there to witness it himself or will he rely on his resource (s)?

No. "flukey worse then "empty-netter". I'll agree Anderson was pushing forward but the CCH 3rd goal was anything but flukey or empty-netter. The way I saw it I described in post #10. IMO "flukey" describes a goal that in 9 out of 10 chances won't be a goal, a weird situation, big mistake by the defender, etc. caused the goal. "empty-netter" IMO is one where maybe a long ball is played over the top the keeper comes out and misses it and the striker can basically walk it in. CCH' 2nd and 3rd goals were neither by any stretch. CCH 1st goal was a perfectly hit corner by Russo that Schutt finished superbly with a header into the back of the net, Anderson keeper had no chance. All 3 CCH goals with quality. This team has been bashed over and over for lack of goal scoring. Maybe give them some due for scoring 3 quality goals against a very good D1 OH school known for their defense.

About that "empty-netter", Lamb did a great job of beating the first defender, drawing the second defender at the same time pulling the keeper near post and then slotting the ball across the box to Deimling for a beautiful goal. Well put together, great timing, nice goal. Personally I don't call this type of goal an "empty-netter", degrades its by doing so.

Congrats NCC and good luck in Frankfort. Sounds like Brossart played well, 3 years in a row, one All A State Championship, nothing to be ashamed of.

Very nice win against a good Anderson team. CCH the better team tonight, had more possession, more chances, 2 off the post (again) and the Anderson keeper made some really nice saves on a few other chances, it could have been 6-2 score. CCH may have discovered a few important pieces of the puzzle in this one. Total team win, but in particular Wulfeck played well in a new role as midfielder and Seibert came off the bench and played terrific at outside back, stepping up huge to fill a need. Anderson lone goal via PK, defense strong!

Both teams have played well at times and not so good at other times. NCC must be playing well, beating Tate Creek 3-2. Tates Creek is obviously down this season but still a nice result and loosing to WC 1-0 is something to build on. Brossart on a 2 game loosing streak, can they right the ship? NCC 2 - Brossart 1.

Stava, Schutt, Vogt ?, Matos, Ventre, Deitz, Blom, and maybe more (I don't make it to every game nor keep a running note book on starters, playing time, etc when I do attend) And over the weekend I heard there maybe another starter to add to the injured list.

Up to this point in this thread, 8 post and counting I agree with nearly everything written. A couple of things to add. As Sir said (as far as I know) there is not a "mandatory minimum" games. And I know little to nothing about how you put together a HS season schedule, but if its me, I'm not entering my team in any tournament requiring my team to play two games in one day, either in July, August, September or October. And IMO it clearly should be a KHSAA rule, NO more then one game per day, July 15 though the end of the season. Next, from my reading this YC is NOT making any excuses. He is simply pointing out issues Cooper is going through, injuries, lack of depth, etc. causing the staff to tinker with the lineup. Just asking, were Cooper JV players available for this trip? Would that have helped, sounds like the 3 injuries left a thin roster very very thin.

No secret CCH is struggling to score goals, why is anyone's guess or theory. Mine is and has been the style of play, direct Vs possession/build up. I will admit this team does not have the depth I thought they would back in July and early August. (disclaimer, this next sentence is not an excuse but an explanation to support my theory) Pretty sure they have had 2,3 or more starters miss every game since early in the season, so lack of depth has had a huge impact. And no one can blame the staff for lack of effort, they have tried a ton of different lineups and a lot of players in different positions. My suggestions would vary from some of those listed above. Lamb's skill set is to dribble until he gets off a shot or looses the ball. Putting him out wide would be a mistake IMO. I would do the opposite, I would camp in inside the box. The past few games he has come back into the midfield to get the ball, causing him to dribble through a lot more defenders farther away from the goal. Totally agree with moving Blom out to the wing where he could use his pace. Russo is the player I would move into midfield. There may not be a better player in NKY serving balls. He can ping a ball with either foot 30-40 plus yards on target with perfect pace and spin. He also plays simple keeping possession, finding the open teammate and does a nice job breaking things up when the opponent is counter attacking. Problem is he is valuable as an OSback or Cback, lack of depth is keeping him somewhere on the back line. And I have no idea why Russo is not taking every free kick for CCH, one of the few he has taken was a free kick against Dixie, 25 yards out that went over the wall and beat the keeper. Set pieces SHOULD NEVER be wasted, especially when your team is struggling to score. Stava is another versatile player that can make an impact up top or on the back line. Where to play him IMO depends on the opponent and how the game is going. For CCH to beat a very good team like Anderson they need every player on the field to match or exceed the intensity of their opponent and to capitalize on their scoring chances. Will it happen on Tuesday, certainly possible. Will they get one or two starters back, I have no idea. CCH 1- Anderson 1.
