I have always been curious as to how any one site or person can rank high school soccer teams without seeing anywhere close to all of them? any ideas to how these list are put together?

I think they use a Ouija board.

Maher rankings are based on math. It has nothing to do with an eye test. The Coaches Poll is a guess for a lot of coaches. It's impossible to see teams in every part of the state, but you can usually use some score line comparison to make an educated guess.

Haha TAC, well in the first state wide coaches poll, I think they had like 17 coaches vote, so a little more than 5. :jump:

So, if the NKY poll can get input from 5 coaches, it appears that we are not doing that bad if the whole state only has 17 coaches chiming in.

polls needed to be completed by media not coaches. Too many coaches don't see enough teams to rank them fairly. Too many coaches don't have time to pay attention to research properly for a ranking. Rankings are nice to see, but usually not anywhere close to realistic

"not the greatest"? Does it even (media coverage of HS soccer in NKY) exists?

I have mentioned this before. I would like to see head coach, JV coach, AD and referees vote. Not a perfect world but you can make an argument the more people voting the more accurate the results will be.

Yes and no.

Yes for the obvious reason, you don't get a very high ranking by accident, it is earned. Very good teams typically do well in the State Tournament.

No due to some of the top teams are in the same region, only one team advances out of each region.

As an example:

#3, #4, #9, #13, and #14 are all in Region 7.

#5, #7, #8, #15, #17, and #18 are all in Region 11.

#6, #16, #19, and #20 are all in Region 9.

 

So out of these 15 top 20 teams, only 3 will advance to the State Championship Tournament.

let me guess....Louisville, Lexington, NKY?
