  1. Let's just pray for safe travels to and from the game for the players and fans, no injuries, and a good (but muddy) football game.
  2. 6-A has better talent, true. But it is really no contest. 2-A appears to have the most balance and therefore probably more excitement because more teams feel they have a chance to be champion.
  3. Mayfield people on this site are the epitome of class. Tough to be this gracious in defeat after so many years of dominance. The radio announcers in the Mayfield radio broadcast not so much. Mayfield will be back. No one wants to play Mayfield, ever.
  4. I'm curious. I don't recall seeing that called in the last 2-3 years of games I have watched (about 30-35 games). Has anyone else? Just wondering how often it gets called? If Big Red Diesel is right there should be several calls in the western part of the state to draw from. The bottom line is that I don't see how you eject someone from the next game at this point in the season. I feel bad for the young man. If it is like half of the ejections I see in college football then I am skeptical about it. On the other hand, those are the hits that make you see stars (for the next 30 years). Not sure there is a good answer.
  5. I cannot not imagine anyone under 40 on this site. Young people have to many other things going on in their lives. No offense, but reading about high school football is for dads and old men (which are a whole lot alike).
  6. Desales has to be given the benefit of the doubt. Too many in row for it to be mere coincidence.
  7. Danville 35-LCA 21
  8. My apologies Mr. Seymour. I meant to say Mr. Hearsay.
  9. I have been to lots of games Colt Football having watched my boys take on mighty Desales for many years. Too many painful endings to the season for us CAL fans/families. No question that Desales has been the better program. What I have come to learn is that the players quickly move on from the rivalry once they get to college or the workforce. They play football at college together, join the same fraternities and even work together in real life. It is really the current players, fans and us crazy parents that act like this game is the end all be all. I perhaps more than most am guilty, guilty, guilty. The fact is that contrary to the comments of good ole Jimmy Seymour above, fans are all the same. They, including me, see the world through their own team's colors. The other team and it's fans are always mean and angry and disrespectful while your own fans are good God fearing honest people who never say or step over the line. We all know that the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Even in defeat in the playoffs I will say that watching these two teams play against one another is a pleasure, albeit sometimes a painful one. I hope the Colts and the Centurions stay injury free and maybe, just maybe, I am secretly hoping that CAL loses the regular season game to change up the mojo! Lastly, having played games at Iroquois and Southern I can tell that we are very excited to play at your new stadium. A program like Desales deserves it.
  10. Desales Dad=a man. Colt Football=a child. Anyone who can read can see in his comments. Good luck to both teams.
  11. Mayfield No. 1, Desales No. 2, CAL or Danville or Newport Catholic No. 3 through 5. Mayfield and Desales have to be given the benefit of playoff results in years past. Concerning Mayfield this year and Desales the years before, the CHAMP has to be knocked out to lose the title. My guess is that CAL's ranking is based on playing Simon Kenton. Win or lose, I suspect Mayfield will get a big push in these formulaic rankings based on playing 6-A McCracken County. For the last several years in 2-A the title has run through the West. With the addition of Mayfield I don't see than changing soon.
  12. Wow, what a performance by Desales. The quarterback picked up his team and carried them to a giant victory. He ran it, threw it and would have hiked it to himself if permitted. Dominating performance. Desales Dad, wish I could have found you to congratulate you and take you up on that beverage offer. Can't think of a better way for your team to open up your new stadium than as three time defending state champions. Good luck to you and your team.
  13. I love that Mayfield reads the thread.
  14. Desales is a unique program. Getting 80-90 boys to come out for football in 2A is quite a accomplishment. Programs with 40-50 players can compete but have a much smaller margin for error. Also, the Desales coaching staff always seems to do a good job in changing up their defensive game plan in the second game. They dropped back in coverage on a large number of plays in the first game. I suspect CAL will see much more blitzing this time around. Of course like most people on this site you could put most of what I know about football on the head of a pin. The winning formula for Desales is to let that quarterback run the ball 20 times. He is quite an athlete. I suppose he could throw for 200 yards against CAL but I am just not seeing it. Not sure who Colt Dad is but he sure sounds like someone I would like to have a cold beverage with. Good luck to both teams. No matter what, beat Mayfield.
  15. Sounds likes we are back to the "we always lose the first game on purpose." Until CAL beats Desales in playoffs, I think Desales has the advantage. Desales has to run the ball. If I am Desales, I don't let my quarterback throw more than 5 passes. CAL wants him to throw it. The key to the game will be quarterback pressure by Desales and a few interceptions. Desales does that and they win. Key for CAL will be some running yards to keep people out of the box. Good luck to both teams.
  16. You sound like an old Drill Instructor of mine who was in a Viet Nam. He walked uphill to school both ways, ate nails for breakfast and didn't need luxeries like helmets. Good luck Friday!
  17. Mayfield, CAL, Newport Catholic, Danville. Danville v. CAL. CAL.
