Whites Creek has some quick athletes but FS is dominating the line of scrimmage.

McPherson 2 yard TD run for FS. Brody McAllister’s kick is good and FS leads 13-6 at 10:41 in the second quarter.

Big run by QB Brady Delk and the Wildcats will start the second quarter with a first down at the WC 13. 6-6.

FS turns it over on downs but forces a punt by Whites Creek and FS will start again on their own 44 at 1:27 in first.

FS answers with a 2 yard TD run by Ayden Jones. Blake McPherson with about 60 yards rushing on the drive. PAT is blocked. FS recovers the onside kick. 6-6 at 4:56 in first.

But the important thing is how many NBA draft picks will come from Arkansas?

Kansas has run 7 possessions using a zone defense all year. They just switched to a zone several minutes ago and Arkansas is struggling against it. Shocking. Jayhawks lead 67-64 at the under 4 timeout.

Seven seniors for FS were able to bounce back from an upset loss in the Region semifinals last year. LaReesha Cawthorn had 19 points and was named 4th Region MVP. Kloie Smith had a career high 21 points also for FS.

Metcalfe scored the first two points but FS ran off 11 straight and never trailed again. The Lady Hornets got as close as 4 early in the second quarter but FS built a 37-20 halftime lead. Suffocating defense which led to several layups for the Lady Cats. Metcalfe had a hard time finding open shots early. The largest lead was 31 I believe midway through the fourth quarter. FS gets a tough draw against George Rogers Clark in the first round at Rupp. First Region title for FS since 2009 when they lost in the first round in overtime to eventual state champion Iroquois who were led by Asia and Adia Mathies.

The Lady Cats trailed entering the fourth quarter but dominated the last 8 minutes to seal a trip to the finals.

Lucky breaks and referee calls finally went against the Chiefs tonight. I don’t believe that there is a conspiracy by the NFL to rig games or influence the officiating, but KC has had an inordinate amount of controversial calls go their way in key moments. It makes it seem like something is fishy even if it isn’t. Mahomes was clearly hit in the face on the strip-sack fumble that he lost but there was no roughing the passer call. Has that ever happened to him before? I was shocked. I’m glad there was no real controversy in this game and the better team clearly won.

I’m loving this blowout. The calls are not going the Chiefs way finally.

I’ve been a Cowboys fan since 1982. Never cheered so hard for the Eagles as I did during that pick six.

Well that didn’t take long for the first help from the refs for KC.

When you get all the calls from the refs and also lots of dumb luck it’s hard to lose.

Cooper wins the Queen of the Commonwealth Cup. FS led 8-6 after one and 16-15 at the half. It was 29-29 after 3 but Cooper came out and hit a 3 to start the last frame and never trailed again. FS had trouble scoring and Cooper heated up at the end. Congratulations to the Lady Jags.

I am enjoying this team for the most part but they are not quite good enough to beat a good team on a cold shooting night.

I tried to find this game streaming somewhere but our local fschannel9.com didn’t show it. FS has most of its squad back from last year and they are still very good. They are still stinging from being upset by Bowling Green in the 4th region finals last year.

Today in Tennessee, Alcoa (alma mater of Randall Cobb) won their tenth straight 3A state championship. They have won the title 18 of the last 21 years.

The two games in 2017 probably had better attendance partly because of the finals moving to Kroger Field from WKU for the first time that year. Also Madison Southern made a rare finals appearance and are just about 30 minutes from Lexington. Boyle County also has a big following obviously. Covington Catholic was rolling that year with AJ Mayer. I was there for the first half of the 5A game which was just after the awesome Franklin-Simpson 4A title win vs. Johnson Central.

The 2010 Boyle County vs. Allen County-Scottsville game had a big crowd mainly because it was held at WKU, about 30 minutes from Scottsville who was making their first and only state championship appearance. Seemed like half of the population of Allen County was there. Boyle County had a good turnout as well. I was there to see it and ACS had a 7-0 lead at the half until Lamar Dawson and company came back in the second half for the Boyle County win.

I’ve never seen a sports team of any sport at any level with more good luck than the Chiefs. Ridiculous.
