  1. 79 yard TD for WC on a pass out in the flat. Nice misdirection on the play. 2 point conversion fails. FS 14-6 at the end of the first.
  2. Gavin Dickerson 1 yard TD run. FS 14-0 at 1:29 in first.
  3. WC punts to FS. Wildcats start at the Dragon 43.
  4. 7 yard TD run by Alford. FS 7-0 at 9:09 in first.
  5. Interception by Layne Alford for FS and returned to the WC 23.
  6. Greenwood Manual Simon Kenton Highlands Boyle County
  7. Wasn’t able to watch this one live but finished the replay late last night. The Colonels’ combo of QB Jordan Riley running and throwing to JaSean Miles and Prince Northington II gave FS fits early as CC led 14-7 after the first quarter. After that FS scored 33 straight. The Colonels got a couple of late TDs to make it interesting at the end. CC had several speedy athletes but their line play was lacking. FS scored on each possession except for the last two late in the game. FS had one completion, a long TD from Mathias Dickerson to Damont Leggs. They ran it the rest of the way as per usual. Several backs in the rotation for FS, the workhorse is fullback Gavin Dickerson. Layne Alford is a beast at linebacker and wingback for FS. Christian County went for it on every fourth down and converted several. They lack consistency but have dangerous players that can score at any time.
  8. Trinity Bullitt East Bowling Green Frederick Douglass Ashland
  9. FS scrimmaged Ohio County and outscored them 6 TDs to none, but that is par for the course historically between those 2 teams. Last week FS scrimmaged Green County for 2 varsity quarters and they tied 14-14. FS JV outscored Green 1 TD to zero. Green County’s passing game was very good I thought. Unless Christian County is improved, I think FS will win.
  10. Sneak peek of the new turf going in at Franklin-Simpson including new goalposts.
  11. They were in the same district in AA from 1995-98. FS beat Glasgow in 95 then went on to be state runner-up, losing to Breathitt County in double overtime. Glasgow beat FS and won the district from 96-98. In 96 FS was up 14-0, then Glasgow came back with 2 TDs and went for 2 after the last score to win 15-14. I think Fort Knox led by Derek Homer won the region that year. Glasgow won I think 28-0 in 97 but were upset by Elizabethtown in the first round of the playoffs. FS ended up winning the region and lost to Owensboro Catholic in the semis. Glasgow won 42-14 in 98 and both teams lost in the second round.
  12. It just means more…disappointment.
  13. The only bad thing about this is that it happened in the Duke-Tennessee bracket.
  14. Just like the last game a big Vandy run going into the half.
  15. 1995 Franklin-Simpson. Lost 2 regular season games, one to Portland TN who made it to the Tennessee 3A semifinals, and lost at Bowling Green 13-12, which was the Purples’ closest game that year on the way to 15-0 and the 3A state championship, which was their first. FS swept through the first 4 playoff games by a combined score of 164-7, giving up one score to a Derek Homer-led Fort Knox team. Led Breathitt County 14-0 early in the 2A title game before the Bobcats came back to tie it and eventually beat FS 42-35 in double overtime. Couple of questionable calls late in that game (FS recovered a late fumble by Breathitt but the ball carrier was ruled down, and one of Breathitt’s TDs, I think the one in the first overtime, appeared to be caught out of bounds) favored Breathitt Co., otherwise FS probably would have won.
  16. So is this evidence of what Kentucky can be this year or are they just a bad matchup for Tennessee?
  17. This game was similar to last year’s Super Bowl in that the officials largely stayed out of the way till the very end. But when it’s close at the end, the NFL can produce exactly the outcome they want. The only chance the Eagles had was to blow out KC so it wasn’t close at the end like Tampa Bay did a couple years ago. Looked like they were on the way to doing that, but their defense collapsed in the second half. None of us can prove that the NFL is rigged, but when the beneficiaries of the biggest bad calls are in the most TV commercials, and when every other advertisement is for a gambling website, suspicions will arise. A lot has changed since Alex Karras and Paul Hornung were suspended for a whole season in the prime of their careers for gambling. Of course that was 60 years ago. Has MLB embraced gambling yet? Asking for my buddy Pete Rose.
  18. First game I’ve watched from start to finish this year. Kentucky shot 2 free throws the whole game. Vanderbilt committed only 5 fouls. Game was over in an hour and 45 minutes.
