  1. I would remove Henderson County from the 2nd and place them in the 3rd. Tale Meade County from the 3rd and place them in the 5th region.
  2. Saw Justin and his team play this weekend. He looked really good. his game has expanded and his agility has improved. Reece Gaines (Assistant Coach at EKU) was at both games.
  3. How does anyone that comprises this list miss Stewart Curry of Daviess County? He is not listed in the top 75, but he IS a top 20 player (conservatively speaking). He will be the pre-season POY candidate. Averaged a double double last season on a winning team, he is 6'7, very versatile, and will play baseball at UofL. I mean, really???
  4. Eli tweeted this, if it's any indication of his plans:
  5. Insightful question. If Eli departs for prep school, I think Ben and Trace will not be at Apollo either. All things considered, they (Apollo) underachieved in June and are looking in another direction. Hayden Shelton will be a good player. He's just not an impact player yet. Without a PG, he will not get a lot of opportunity to do what he does best - catch and shoot.
  6. Tony Hopper is a quality coach and competitor. He has his work cut out for him in the immediate future, though. I expect Stovall to fill the vacancy at Muhlenburg County. I believe his son will be a senior on the basketball team. If Stovall is hired, the third region may have more, or as many, state championship coaches than any other region in the state??? (Drake, Stovall, Riley)
  7. In all reality, this rule only applies to less than five percent of all of the boys basketball players in the state. This rule effects about 15-20 players statewide. John Lucas camp and the college "elite" camps are invitation only. It excludes the majority of basketball players that can go to camp. The rich get richer. With that said, it's still a dumb rule.
  8. Apollo did have their whole team. They are struggling internally. Don't see any signs of that changing. This event looks like it had an outstanding field.
  9. Best shoe collection in KY. Congrats to Coach Taylor!
  10. Apollo and Hoopdreams point guard Ben Moss picks up his first offer. Congratulations Lil Ben! That makes three returning Apollo players with D1 offers.
  11. I don't believe they redshirt anybody. They carried about 20 players last year from the looks of their website. I am sure that they will have a JV team.
  12. Michael Stafford from Louisville Trinity is going there, as well.
  13. Two teams going in two different directions at this point in the season. I am not real impressed with Male's talent. No one to create for the one's that can score. They play hard on defense, but Manual's defense into easy offense will be too much for the Dogs tonight. I think the 74-52 prediction is accurate.
  14. There is nothing easy about selling your family farm in one location that you have lived in for years and uprooting your family (sister transfers too) to another county so that you can try and give your kids better opportunities as you see fit as a parent. If parents are willing to sell their homes and make the kind of financial sacrifices it takes to legitimately relocate, then eligibility is a no-brainer. It is a huge risk for the family too. There is no doubt that.
  15. He is going to take somebody's minutes. That is a good problem for the Coach Barker IMO. The homegrown players won't like it much though. That will be two Mr. Basketball candidates on the same team. Trace chose a quality school, that will push and nurture him in positive ways. So, Ohio County has lost Trace Young and Justin Miller. What's up with that?
  16. Butler just about got duPont Manual last night. Nothing is a gimme in the 6th and 7th regions. Still think Manual has the best squad that they have had since Coach Just got there.
  17. Two losses for the Apollo Eagles and a big home win for South Warren. Both teams have 1st year head coaches at their respective schools.
  18. LCA may be the team to beat in Lexington this year. It could be the best team they have ever had there...
  19. This is an outstanding event every year. I will be making the trip east to see a few days again this year. Excited! Also, glad to hear that Henderson is going. Love watching David Simmons play. He is the most under talked about player in the state, IMO...
  20. DC is the sleeper in the 3rd. They have size, an explosive guard , and experience. They are stuck in that top heavy 9th district, though.
  21. You are correct. My mistake. Eli, Aric and Trace Young do have D1 offers. Not used to seeing that. That is one player from each of the senior, junior and sophomore classes. Would be fun if that trend continues...
  22. 1st five players on the list either played for HoopDreams last year, or they are committed to play with them next year. This region finally has multiple (2 IMO) D1 prospects. It has been a decade or two since this has happened. Crazy to think that the top four kids on this list either go to Owensboro High School(Miller & Holeman), went to Owensboro High School (Marshall Griffith), or went to Owensboro Middle School (and was scheduled to go to OHS) Eli Wright. Owensboro should, by all accounts, be a top five teeam in KY this year.
  23. Averaged 22 ppg and 7 rpg as a sophomore on a 20-6 team last season. Had a break out summer with the Hoop Dreams organization. Has an offer list that extends off the sheet. Smooth operator. Explosive and athletic. Despite all of the attention and accolades the kid receives, he is the most humble, life-loving, fun-to-be-around kid I've every met. It seems that none of the attention he is receiving is going to his head. Hope that never changes about Eli. Just felt like people need to know that about Eli...
