Collins Titan Shootout

Featured Replies

This weekend the Collins Titans hosted the second annual Titan Shootout. A tremendous field of teams in this one, including Apollo, Ballard, Bullitt East, Collins, Doss, Dunbar, Fern Creek, John Hardin, KCD, Trinity, and West Jessamine.

Trinity beat Dunbar by 2 in overtime in the championship game. Both teams played 3 straight games and were noticeably exhausted. Overall good weekend of basketball with some high level competition and players.

I went for a couple of games yesterday. My Titans are in for a long year. I came away really impressed with Trinity, Ballard, Dunbar, Fern Creek, and Bullitt East. Dunbar and Trinity look to have already settled in to what type of teams they'll be. Ballard seemed to be figuring out their roles, but they'll be very tough as always. Fern Creek and Bullitt East may very well make up the most exciting district around. Both teams pushed the ball at a frenetic pace and were really entertaining to watch. The team that looked great walking on the floor but seemed to struggle the most was Doss. They just looked like they weren't sure of who should do what. Which can definitely happen in June basketball. I didn't get to see Apollo, but the scores that were posted showed that they lost all 3 of their games by double digits. Anyone know if they had their whole team?

Apollo did have their whole team. They are struggling internally. Don't see any signs of that changing. This event looks like it had an outstanding field.

Ballard wasn't at full strength and just destroyed Fern Creek. They lost in OT to Dunbar.... Both teams looked spent.

Darius Williams of Dunbar started cramping in the 3rd quarter of the Ballard game and sat the rest of it out. He tried to play against Trinity but lasted about 2 minutes before the cramps came back and sat out the rest of that game.

No doubt!!

Bullitt East had been at Georgetown camp all week and played pretty well but ran out of steam against Trinity in semi-final . Gave up a ten point lead and missed several layups at the end. Trinity very well coached & disciplined team. They don't make many mistakes .
