  1. Was your point that coaches only see what they want to see.. My point was officials sometimes let some calls go at certain points in the game and then call the same infraction later. I think some officials get into trouble and get a bad rap when this occurs. For instance saw a JR high game last night were one team was aggressive went to the basket drew fouls got into the bonus in the first qtr. when the defense was playing zone. During the second half that defensive team started to press and trap the ball and they fouled less. IME when a team plays more aggressive at the JR level the amount of fouls increases. So the officials changed the way they called the game to speed up the outcome and turned the game into a football game.
  2. Clyde - Totally understand your reasoning but it's your job as an official to call the game as it's played. This is part of the concern that people have what do you decide to let go what do you call, etc.. You are also not helping the girls/boys or their coaches when you decide to let things go. The coach may have spent all week with a player working on pivot foot for instance only to have an official let a couple of traveling calls go to undermine their efforts.. Just something to think about..
  3. Since HC has failed to post any stats to the KHSAA website there is no way to fact check who's played. This will play out like RCC9 has predicted (IMO) there are only a few people that share his overall knowledge of the girls programs/players in NKY. Pandora's Box is located in Latonia...
  4. Sounds like the Tigers put up a better fight than was expected. I'm thinking that the Lady Royals won't overlook teams on the schedule after tonight. In the end the Royals were to deep and to big for the Tigers from Beechwood.
  5. Yep sure that might have been a factor but...How about some credit for the gutty performance on the road by an undersized, gritty Beechwood team. I heard the Tigers controlled the tempo of the game from the start just didn't have the depth or size to do much else against the Royals. The lady Royals will be fine relax Royal Fans not many teams match up with them. Coach Cox will do a great job, congrats coach on your first Varsity win.
  6. Really wasn't close in either 1/2. The hard part about the highland scrimmage all day was the no foul out rule. This allowed more physical games and not a true indication of what transpire in a real game. WV is definitely better with Hailey Ison on the floor, good player,T. Clos and M. Schwaber did not disappoint for the Camels. The Camels appear to be deeper this year with talent off the bench which will help Coach Menafee.
  7. That starting 5 would be? Who are you comparing them too?
  8. So who is accountable? Who holds them accountable? Very interesting since my now 7th grade son is on the waiting list at HC (he doesn't play basketball) We were told last year when looking to transfer that the class was full, which is why he is currently on the waiting list.
  9. Scott is just better than the rest of the 10th this year. The 37th district seems to be the dominate district in the region for Volleyball and Scott is the Dominate team in the District. This Scott team is so balanced and athletic that even on a bad night and a great Cinderella night from another team they win this Region. Having watched all these teams there just no comparison. I hope they get a good draw and can make some noise at State.
  10. Excited to see Carly Lang play this year after watching her play this summer. I saw a lot of improvement in her game from where she was last April.
  11. Last night was a warm up for Scott who will roll through the 10th on their way to state..
  12. Scott will play Brossart for the chance to go to State and represent the 10th region. I predict Scott will win the 10th.
  13. My observations the current coaching staff likes to run off upper class-man. 3 Seniors started season in 2016 only 1 played in last nights loss ( 1 hurt, 1 benched unknown infraction) CC lost their setter to a torn ACL playing Scott in the regular season. The sophomore that replaced her that night played very well in a tough spot and I personally thought they might have a chance to make some noise, next person up type of thing. The coach never played the JV sophomore setter after that game, moving another player into the role who had never played the position on a consistent basis and left a hole in the back line with her absence there. IMO the coaches decision made the team worse at 2 positions and their record confirms that CC only had wins over Holmes and Pendleton County after the position changes.
  14. I had a coach in the CC program actually tell me that they felt one of their upper classmen was a better player at the beginning of the season than she was at the end. How does a player your coaching get worse as the season goes on? I also witnessed girls playing because their parents complained about playing time. So that sums up the issues at Campbell County: players not getting better, kids getting playing time not earning it, no leadership, and to much Drama. They also came up against a motivated Brossart team who took care of business. Good Luck to the Mustangs and the Eagles in your drive to State.
  15. How is Ally Johnson from Beechwood not in the top 10?
  16. IMO the best overall player at Campbell County is Mackenzie Schwaber and she should be considered for Top Player in Region. She draws the toughest defensive assignment night after night and guards all 5 positions for the Camels, is one of their top re bounders and assist leaders as well. Mackenzie makes other around her better and covers a lot of her teams mistakes. Her offensive skills are under rated because she is comfortable in letting Clos, Jolly get their points, but when needed she can drop 20 points on a team.
  17. The inexperience of the Campbell County back line showed last night. When you're playing Jr. High and underclassman players it can come back to bite you in big games. The Coaching staff at Campbell County must have decided to develop players this year over winning. I hope that it pays off down the road 2/3 years. My observations the current coaching staff likes to run off upper class-man. 3 Seniors started season in 2016 only 1 played in last nights loss ( 1 hurt, 1 benched unknown infraction) 4 Juniors started 2 played (1 left program (team captain) dispute over unknown infractions and direction of program, 1 very limited playing time) 3 sophomores 1 started ( 2 reserves limited time). IMO Campbell County Sports should be the bench mark of the 37th district based on the size of the school. When your potential athletic pool is double and triple your district rivals, CC should be a factory based on nothing other than class size. The volleyball team this year had a pool of 450 SR/JR girls and had 7 make the 15 player Varsity roster (6 played legit minutes),going into next year they are looking at possible 2 SR/2-3 JR on the roster. How is that possible!!! Props to Scott and Brossart for year after year going head to head and sometimes beating the stuffing out of a school that is double and triple their enrollment.
  18. This is not a negative comment.. With the loss to the HC roster who will McClendon be dishing to for scoring? I'm not familiar with the girls left on the HC roster so I'm curious..
  19. Awesome person will be missed by my family. Rest In Peace my friend his good and faithful servant.
  20. Couple of the GRC girls came up to NKY and played AAU with some of the top players from Campbell, Mason and Scott this summer. I think playing and practicing with these top players added to the fine coaching they get at GRC and will pay dividends for GRC. I also heard that Sydney Anderson was going to commit to Hillsdale, getting an inspired player in Anderson who works and plays hard.
  21. If you want her to learn the game and fundamental skills it's Legacy..
