  1. OC played Louisville Holy Cross a couple of years ago. This schedule definitely not as brutal as last year.
  2. Saw on twitter that Hartz received an invite to the Elite11 regional. That's a pretty big deal and I got to wondering if there were any KY qbs that made it to the big Elite11 competition...didn't Drew Barker go? Here's one of Hartz's hudl videos, good luck to him.. Drew Hartz - QB12 - Drew Hartz highlights - Hudl
  3. Some head-scratchers, especially at honorable mention QBs... I've seen 3-4 of them play and they are no where near Owensboro Catholic's Drew Hartz or Owensboro's Will Warren.
  4. The rankings look about right as OCath showed that they are not quite there yet in closing out tough games. They led undefeated John Hardin as well but couldn't handle the super athletic pressure in the second half.
  5. Agree that the region is the top three and then the rest. If OCath gets a W over ohs this friday, I'd put them back on top since they would have wins over breck and the devils. This is the time of year that OC starts to slow their pace and revert back to crawl ball which has been brutal to watch the last couple of years. If they keep up the fast pace, they should stay around the top of the region.
  6. okie1 is correct, previously was called the big 8 conference. This years president of the conference was the coach from Henderson county and he said they are looking to add schools in the future. This looks to be an attempt to get some recognition to the kids from these schools who are overlooked by the rest of the state, which is a good thing. I think the schools in the western end of the state also have a "conference".
  7. The Northwest KY football conference had their inaugural All-Conference team recognition on Monday night hosted by Owensboro High School: Owensboro Catholic - Drew Hartz, Noah Todd, Vonn Williams, Nick Mills Grayson County - Noah Bullock, Ethan Cates, QDaryius McHenry, Derrick Ruth Daviess County - Marquel Tinsley, Joey Cambron, Landon Newman McLean County - Peyton Carroway, Nikolas Dela Cruz, Andrew Munster, Dalton Eubanks Hancock County - Darian Clay, Spencer Harpenau, Devin Taylor Muhlenberg County - Cameron Everly, Joseph Grubbs Apollo - Gage Hayden, Mario McKenzie, Quinton Miller Owensboro - Trevon Green, Will Warren, Dartanyan Tinsley, Qualon Tinsley Ohio County - Benjamin Wood Henderson County - Skip Patterson, Ian Pitt, Isaiah Fallen Congrats to those guys..
  8. Possible preview of a 3rd region final last night with OCath topping Breck in a well played game 79-73. Catholic slowed it down in the second half for some reason and Breck got back in the game and even took the lead, but Cath made a couple more plays and hit free throws to pull it out.
  9. OCath next three games are Meade, Breck, and Grayson...so the team that dismantled south spencer 103-38 will certainly get tested early. The Aces look to have a team that will make a lot of noise in the region this year.
  10. Good summary about the Murray upset over Ocath. Three of the four major penalties that cost them big time were what the referees called "foul language" that were never directed at anyone. One was even called on a player on the sidelines after the play was over. Bizarre 'look at me' officiating at the least in that game, and that's putting it nice. In the end the turnovers doomed the Aces second half and Murray took full advantage.
  11. Well, since Owensboro Catholic was finally brought up in this thread, Cal Fan was right in the stars aligning for them to go all the way.. BUT .. this is a very good OCath team this year. Unfortunately for them, the top 3 in 2A are as well. I suspect they will give Mayfield all they want in the third round since it will be played in the 'boro.
  12. This should be a fun game to watch, Mclean ground and pound versus OCath spread attack.
  13. Was a heck of a game. Both teams really played tough and I was impressed with Apollo. Solid team. Not a great game by Ocath QB Drew Hartz, but his run for the eventual game winning TD was big time and Von Williams had some huge runs. This game could have gone either way and the Aces come away with a hard fought win.
  14. This should be a good game between a couple of pretty good teams. I give the edge to OC just due to the strength of schedule each team has played thus far.
  15. Great breakdown, and although there is a lot of season left to play, that OCath - OHS game was a classic and in my view vaulted OCath QB Drew Hartz to the top 3 of west Ky and possibly the state. Let's see if that win launches the Aces on a nice run toward the playoffs and I agree, should be a running clock this Friday against a winless South Spencer team. It will be very interesting to see if the red devils can regroup after such a loss and be competitive against BG.
  16. I think it will be by more than 14. Owensboro Catholic really exposed ohs in some areas and I suspect BG will take advantage. If ohs can come out with inspired play like OCath did, they might be able to hang around, but I doubt it.
  17. Talk about a turn around. Revamped offense, smothering defense, qb Drew Hartz is a legit baller. OC overcame 4 turnovers to come back from a 10 point deficit in the fourth quarter. Great atmosphere at Steele stadium with a packed house saw a great game. Not sure why ohs didn’t keep getting ball to owsley and #3. OCath may have turned the corner and sent shock waves across western ky.
  18. Took a look at Evansville central last night. They had huge linemen and athletes. DCs Tinsley got hurt first play and they were done after that. I would probably compare central to a bowling green type of team.
  19. Can't get better unless you play good teams. Ocath needs tough games due to their weak district and going against the best team in Owensboro and Evansville, an 0-2 start does not spell doom.
  20. Much closer game than the score suggests, OCath was in it deep into the third quarter but drops and penalties along with cramping doomed their fourth qtr. Cambron had all day to throw and throws a nice ball. OCath's QB is the real deal. Both teams will be a tough out.
  21. Another year, another same top 3 or 4. Next year will look much different when CAL and Desales move up. If Owensboro Catholic can survive their brutal first 3 games without injuries, they'll be on cruise control until South Warren at the end of the season.
  22. Central Hardin hosting a large 7v7 tomorrow. teams from western and central KY from what I remember seeing.
  23. Agree zoneblitz, i was surprised that OCath looked as good as they did against some pretty athletic teams. Christian county had some impressive looking athletes, Madisonville as well but their two QBs weren't super strong. Hendo looks like they will need to ground and pound this year and not rely much on the passing game. Catholic QB and receivers were solid but their breakdowns on D will need to get fixed.
  24. Drew Hartz from OCath confirmed by coach LeFors in yesterday's tweet.
