The Purples (3-0) are coming off an emotional 24-21 overtime win over St. X. Now they have to get themselves back up for a huge 5A rivalry game versus Owensboro (2-1). The Red Devils stumbled badly against Owensboro Catholic in one of the more surprising outcomes from Week 2. You've got to wonder if they were caught looking ahead to this titanic match-up with the Purples.

Bowling Green by 14. Owensboro doesn’t have an answer to Vito Tisdale as most teams don’t.

I think it will be by more than 14. Owensboro Catholic really exposed ohs in some areas and I suspect BG will take advantage. If ohs can come out with inspired play like OCath did, they might be able to hang around, but I doubt it.

Every year I say this game will be much closer than people think and every year I’m wrong. Owensboro has the talent to compete in this matchup. Vs Evansville Reitz you could see the potential they had. I still believe this group can pull it together but they have got to come together fast. Defensively, there is no excuse for them to not be better than they were vs Catholic. Especially in the front 7. They are to big and to good to be handled like that. Eventually it comes down to effort and pride and I thought that was lacking in the 4th quarter last week vs Catholic. BG wins, but I think the Devils keep it within a few scores.

I'm glad that you gave the kids a bit of credit for being able to play while some of their own fans are ready to write them off. I will say that the coaches didn't make adjustments that they should have made and the play calling left a bit to be desired (but I am just a fan watching). This is a totally different animal and they had better get ready. Coaching staff and the players. Owensboro has the talent to compete. One of the questions swirling around over on Frederica street is "Will the coaches put the correct personnel in the proper positions, even if it means playing some kids both ways?" That answer may very well decide the game. Regardless of what happened this past Friday, there is still a very good team playing at Rash.

With that being said, I think it's going to be closer than most people think. Can't give OHS the win just yet, this isn't the one they have to have (it would be a nice one to hang your hat on though). What ever happens, I believe it will make the possibility of a second meeting in November that much more intriguing.:watching::popcorn:
