For the second straight season, Owensboro Catholic (0-1) will face stiff competition from Evansville (IN) in Week 1. Last year, Reitz hammered OCath 34-0 in Owensboro. This time around, the Aces cross the border to face #1 ranked and defending 3A state champion Evansville Memorial.

You could be right. If you are, might be the beginnings of a very long season for the Aces.

They play an extremely tough schedule this year but I still don't see anyone in their district beating them or anyone beating them in playoffs until Mayfield. Hopefully, this tough schedule helps prepare them for a good playoff run. Daviess Co, Apollo, OHS, Memorial, and South Warren is a tough non district schedule for a 2 A school with a new coach.

Can't get better unless you play good teams. Ocath needs tough games due to their weak district and going against the best team in Owensboro and Evansville, an 0-2 start does not spell doom.

This is well said. I'm 100% on board with it. Memorial just beat a Jasper, IN squad that is roughly ranked above OCath last week 30-7, so I don't like the Aces chances tonight. But if you expect to play with and beat Mayfield you have to play teams as good as or better than Mayfield to have a chance to beat them. As long as they don't take any significant injuries, this will be a win for the Aces no matter what down the road. Go Aces!
