Ohhh. How did they prove that he was "recruited" at open gym? I've always perceived these situations as tough to prove because a kid who transfers isn't going to admit that they were recruited. The most common by-laws that are always forgotten, by everybody, including the khsaa, is that A. You can't recruit and B. You can't transfer for sports, even if you do move. This is an interesting case. They've nailed them on "recruiting". Wonder how they proved it?

This lays down the law on "open gym" though. It's the place where most recruiting happens. We'll see if the schools most guilty keep up what's been going on.

They are banned from next season's post season

I hadn't had a chance to see UHA this season. I went over to watch this one. Tandy is special. Makes it look VERY easy. He's still got a lot of room to grow. Hollowell is playing much more under control this year. They could win a game or two at all a. pretty remarkable that they are having a decent season relying on 4 freshmen, two of which start and the other 2 are coming of the bench.

This happens A TON. it's just a matter of if the coaches talk to the wrong kid and they get turned in.

All A should be wide open this year. From Region 2 University Heights has played a really tough schedule. Being so young, they are up and down and not very consistent but all of the players on this year's team played in the loss last year at all a state. I suspect they learned lots of lessons. They will have the best back court in Frankfort. The issue is no post presence.

Bowling Green Vs. County should be great. I'm looking forward to it.

Hoptown plays uofl style ball in the sense that they play super physical knowing that they won't get called for all of the fouls. it's simple.. the more physical you are the lower % of fouls that will get called on you. If you don't play physical, say, only foul 20 times in a game you're going to get called for 15-18 of those fouls. But if you play super physical, hand check, hold, hip check etc... foul maybe, 35 times in a game, you're only going to get called for 22-26 of those. As cal said after the game at auburn, "refs get scared to call all of the fouls in a physical game". it's true and Haworth has mastered this style. When they actually get called like they're supposed to they are shocked. When they do get called it's typically against teams that are strong and can get through the contact. The game against Madison Central and Dominique Hawkins is the best example. Hoptown foolishly tried to press and play physical with Hawkins. he made them look silly. Hoptown should have won state that year if they had simply backed off and played straight up instead of pressing and trapping. Hoptown fans complaining about officiating is kind of funny.

Pretty good list. I'd be interested to see Madisonville vs. uha on a neutral floor or at uha. That won't happen this year as UHA probably won't make it out of the district.

3 best teams are from the district. UHA plays 4 freshmen and starts 2 or 3 depending on the night. County has a special team this year. Should be a fun rest of the season

does liktenhouse take out of state losses into account? A team like Christian county hasn't lost to an instate team yet.

Region 2 is simple. UHA vs. Caldwell. Winner plays Dawson Springs. 3 schools boycotting boys basketball. Pretty weak imo. They all played in the other sports. next year if they boycott one they have to boycott all.

I'd put hollowel above sebree... Good list otherwise. With Langhi playing at Christian County this year I think they are the CLEAR favorite. Deep and talented roster with a REAL coach. Hopkinsville, without Matlock, will need to find a leader... I'll be interested to see who that will be.

I was A HUGE matlock fan. still am. But he simply won't be able to play as a 4 or 5 in college as a 6'4 or 6'5 guy. It's a shame he didn't develop more of a perimeter game because he plays incredibly hard and has great physical tools. It's an opinion, unfortunately, unless he suddenly develops a jump shot and ball handling skills, I think he'll struggle at the TN juco he's at.

Hoptown had 4 d-1 players. They just couldn't get eligible for college. and that's sad.. I feel awful for those kids.

Two things. A. The 6'9 exchange student isn't eligible yet. B. Despite their efforts, hoptown wasn't able to get county's best player/players to transfer and fill graduation holes like they did the last 3 years. They also couldn't convince two uha seniors to transfer like they did last year. So... County gets sebree and returns everybody and will add the 6'6 langhi. Hoptown loses 7 seniors and perhaps the best big man from hoptown in the last 15 years (matlock was special, he drug them across the finish line in several wins the last 3 years, its ashame that he couldn't get into a better college situation) and they are expected to win the region? Hoptown doesn't have the stacked deck that he's had the last 4 years... it's county...

2nd region is Christian County with Henderson perhaps #2 . Hoptown didn't get the transfer they thought they were going to get. They simply lost too much from last season. matlock, who won't be much in college, was TERRIFIC in high school. he drug them to several victories and he will be sorely missed...

Facts don't matter to folks who are jealous. It's been that way since the beginning of time. Some private schools recruit. Some public schools recruit. District 8 has 3 schools that have won titles in the last 30 years. Two of them public. Transfers happen all the time between the public and private school. The private school has no obvious advantage over the public schools and that's been proven the last few years. To imply that private schools have an advantage is silly.

McCoy applied. He is interviewing. Will be interesting to see if he gets the job.

Very interesting situation. Leaving the best roster in the region to go to a program that is in rebuilding mode to be an assistant? There's more to the story. We'll see if it ever comes out.
