FullTimeSongLdr Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Nice bounce back win for Wayne County.
Jumper_Dad Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Nice win...looks really good on Mercer too!
Rez Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Fun game to watch. I love watching Blevins play. Hopkinsville definitely put the pressure on Wayne defensively, but Wayne handled it relatively well. Ware hurt his ankle in the 3rd and was out for a while, but was able to get back into the game for the last few minutes. He hit a couple 3s late to keep Hopkinsville in it, but missed an off balance shot from the corner at the buzzer.
westernky Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 From what I heard it sounds like Akeem Atiola just keeps improving. I didn't see any stats for Jalen Johnson. What happened to him?
Jesse James Posted January 17, 2016 Author Posted January 17, 2016 Final per the Scoreboard. http://bluegrasspreps.com/ky-boys-basketball/wayne-county-78-a-321039.html
charliefleet Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Sounds like a good game. How about some details?
wcfan14 Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Just a lot of Heart and shot the ball much much better than last night. Hopkinsville is a very talented and quick team.
chrisjung Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 From what I heard it sounds like Akeem Atiola just keeps improving. I didn't see any stats for Jalen Johnson. What happened to him? Had 3 points and fouled out with 7 minutes left.
Rez Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 From what I heard it sounds like Akeem Atiola just keeps improving. I didn't see any stats for Jalen Johnson. What happened to him? Atiola played much better than earlier in the year. He was a solid contributor. Johnson never really got going.
westernky Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 chrisjung tweeted that Akeem had 8 points and 9 rebounds. In the games I've seen I've been pleased with his improvement. Hopkinsville is good now and will be much better at the end of the year.
Rez Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Sounds like a good game. How about some details? Blevins hit a couple early 3s to give Wayne a lead 4 minutes in. Hopkinsville was able to create turnovers and control the game for the rest of the quarter, but couldn't finish well enough to create any distance. I felt like the Tigers controlled the second quarter as well, but Wayne was winning at halftime. Wayne held a lead for most of the second half that stayed around the 2-7 point range. Cager hit some big shots for Hopkinsville to keep them close, and Ware hit a couple big 3s, but they couldn't ever quite catch up.
HoopDreamsCoachQ Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 I was there and I'm off the opinion that Wayne got some help from the officials down the stretch. Hoptown was full court pressuring Wayne and officials were anticipating fouls and calling them when they weren't happening. CJ Henagan made a heck of a hustle play to deflect an inbounds off of Wayne when it was a 1 point game. Should have been Hoptown ball. Instead, Henagan gets the foul and Wayne goes to the line. Overall, the officiating was solid but the last quarter was questionable at best. Pretty good game overall. Hoptown got to the rim with ease a lot, just missed about 40 layups. Good win for the 12th region.
